The skilled team at Skylark House in Horsham, West Sussex, provides an extensive range of care services, from residential and nursing care through to dementia and end of life care. Every resident is treated with dignity and respect and receives care that’s personalised to their needs and wishes.

The home has excellent facilities, including a large, secure garden overlooking a riverside walk, as well as a coffee shop, hair salon, bar and cosy cinema.

My mum is a resident of Skylark since March 2022. I'm visiting her at least once a week and I can honestly say Skylark is a perfect care home. Mum is very well looked after, she always looks lovely, she's engaging in activities, she's going out, she's active, she made friends with other residents and
has great relationship with all staff. Mum says that food is delicious too, I joined for dinner on a few occasions and it's true. It was good to see the chef was present at meal times, serving food and chatting to residents. For years I have been involved in Mum's care so I am very grateful I'm getting weekly updates from Team Leader about Mum. They always ask if I'm happy with everything and send me care plan to go through. I feel I have my say. From the very first day Skylark has been nothing but amazing with me and my family. All staff are friendly and I always feel welcome (love the coffee shop and homemade cakes!). The manager is always around and she's very supportive and hands-on.

My mother became a resident in October 23. All the staff are exceptionally caring and kind and always have time to discuss her care. They have made both my mother and our family feel so welcome. There are daily activities for her to join in with, and the staff actively encourage her to feel independent
and take her out in the minibus. She plays Scrabble, bakes and goes out walking with the wonderful activities team - there are lots organised. The coffee shop area is fantastic for sitting with her visitors, and the gardens are lovely too. We were recommended Skylarks by lots of friends and are more than happy with the care it has provided

I visited several times since June this year, my Auntie settled in very well. Skylark is a beautiful home. My Auntie looks always very good. I can see she is very well looked after. She says that the food is delicious and the staff are very kind and caring. I am always made to feel very welcome. The
garden looks amazing. The manager's door is always open and she always checks on residents and visitors.

I visit my relative at Skylark House and am pleased to always find her so happy. She joins in all the activities, even doing keep fit classes - something she would never have done before! There is always something going on. The food is really good and the manager is always on hand if I have any queries.
This is a great relief to our family.

Please consider carefully when placing a loved one in here. The care needs major improvement. The manager needs retraining. Going through a complaints procedure. Addressing all major issues at this home.

I would give Skylark six stars if I could. They look after my husband very well and spoil him- he enjoys the activities and the cake. Thank you. After several stays in the hospital, it is a relief that he is safe and his care is always delivered with a smile.

Skylark House care home welcomed my mother-in-law to their care in a most caring and professional way. The staff are caring and treat her as an individual, and meet her needs at all times. Due to her dementia, she can at times, be challenging; however, the staff spend time with patients to ensure she
has her care needs met. The food has been adjusted to her changing needs - she could choose from the menu; however, she is now provided with puree food, which is well presented and fed to her by staff.

The room is not clean. Residents are just left looking at the TV with no facilities or drinks. Overall, insufficient staff and quality have deteriorated. There is very little care given now, and on my last visit, there was the smell of wee in the whole area. It was very good but has now deteriorated
by some unbelievable amount. Staff are more interested in their computers than the residents.

I have found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The building is light, airy, bright and pleasant to be in. The staff try hard to make everyone's day pass as well as it can under the circumstances, and they provide many varied activities.

The standard of care given to my husband is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for the caring staff. The building itself is bright and very clean, and I feel that I can really relax here and not worry when I get home. I really enjoy my three cour lunches! All in all, I really enjoy visiting and
never think "I wish I was in a different place!. If he has to be in care - which he does - this is the very best place.

I am so, so very happy with my husband's care at Skylark. Being able to bring him down to the coffee shop to socialise has made a huge difference.
His room is always kept perfectly, and the staff are so kind. I cannot thank you enough for his care.

I came to Skylark in March 2022. I'm very happy here. Nurses and carers are lovely. Always happy to help, and nothing is too much to ask for. Activity girls are doing their best. I would love to stay here forever.

My 97-year-old mother has just returned from respite in Skylark House and hasn't stopped talking about it!
Our thoughts were that we would dip our toes into the water to see if she could adjust to living away from her own home.
We needn't have worried... she loved it. From the moment we arrived,
the uplifting, happy attitude of all the staff immediately relaxed us. None of them was patronising to my mother... they were always there when she needed them, but they let her move around independently.
She is a nightmare to cook for at home but loved all the food on the menu and would tell us about it during our nightly calls.
The second weekend I visited, I joined her downstairs for line dancing!
As a family, we now know that when/if she needs full-time care... Skylark will be waiting.

My mother had never intended or indeed wanted to end her days in a care home. Having now spent a few weeks at Skylark House, my mother has made such a remarkable recovery from being on End of Life in Hospital prior to her arrival. She absolutely loves everything about staying here, and I cannot speak

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

I joined the Skylark House team in 2016 as Deputy Home Manager in 2016. Care UK’s reputation as a respected care provider was well-known. It prioritises its people’s development and the wellbeing and happiness of all residents, and I wanted to join a company with that clarity of vision.


Being with residents is the best part of my job and I do everything I can to make a difference to their day. I start and finish every day with a smile, and that makes me happy.
I was thrilled to be named one of the top 50 leaders in care by Care Home Professional magazine. I’m so proud to have worked my way up from Care Assistant to Home Manager in eight years. I’m now determined to take Skylark House to an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating. I have a great team around me and we’re dedicated to residents’ happiness and wellbeing, and to fulfilling their dreams. I look forward to seeing you at Skylark House.
