Skylark Care Home has been a godsend to both my mother and I. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Mum is always well presented, her room s always clean and tidy and the staff always friendly. I can spend time with Mum when I wish and she is well stimulated through a varied amount
of activities. She is happy, settled, and in just over a year. I have nothing to complain about only praise at the highest level!

I was admitted to Skylark House for respite care after suffering a mild heart attack in early March 2019. My experience at Skylark House has been very satisfactory.


My only criticism is regarding the menus, not only do clients not fully understand the terminology used regarding the food, but neither

do the serving staff when asked. Please subscribe to the 'plain English society'.

Following my father's death, we were faced with the realisation that our Mum could not care for herself.
We visited several care homes and without a doubt, Skylark House was, for our Mum, by far the best.
Despite enormous reservations and feelings of guilt, our Mum is more content and settled than
we have ever seen her for a long time.
She has embraced joining in with the numerous activities, is eating well and clearly thriving in such a stimulating environment.
We cannot thank the staff enough for their care towards our dear Mum.

My Dad has now been to Skylark House three times for respite each time for 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. He has Dementia and is hard of hearing, so must be very confusing for him to be somewhere other than his own home and yet he seems to settle really well. There are some lovely staff at Skylark House that are
so caring and even when Dad gets agitated, they take it all in their stride. On his more lucid days, Dad will say he likes being there and that he is being looked after. As well as the carers, the activities specialists also keep everyone entertained and encourage that lovely smile from Dad that we as family know and love. The managers, office staff and receptionists also give you a warm welcome when visiting. I really hope there will always be a place for Dad at Skylark House when he needs respite care.

Dad went into Skylark House in September. We were so unsure about putting him into a care home but mum could no longer cope with him at home. The staff have been wonderful looking after dad and supporting us too. He is settled, safe and well cared for and can't wait for the Spring so he can get out
into the lovely gardens.

Mum settled into Skylark House quickly and has now been a resident for two months. My siblings and I make regular visits and we are all of the same opinion; that this is the right home for Mum. The atmosphere is one of calmness where the management and care team are on top of what they are doing, take
the appropriate time with individual residents and provide a safe, caring environment. Rooms are very comfortable, everywhere is clean. Entertainment is enjoyable and meals are excellent.

I regularly visit a close friend who has recently moved onto the dementia wing at Skylark. The staff are always friendly and helpful (treating the residents in a dignified manner) and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. But, it is the entertainment and activity programme which makes this home stand
out from other care homes I have visited. Wow! From singing, making handbags to visiting the garden centre or poetry reading, there is always something to make the residents' life stimulating.

You always wonder if you are doing the right thing having someone you love go into a care home but as soon as I walked into this one I just knew that it was right. Everyone seems happy and are helpful and knowing my husband is happy and being looked after really well made me feel happier.

My mother-in-law was admitted for residential care but in three weeks had to transfer to nursing care - this move was done quickly and without fuss and saved us a lot of stress at a very worrying time. The home is immaculately clean and all the staff are pleasant, kind, caring and helpful and always
treat my mother-in-law with consideration and dignity even in some difficult situations. The only concern we have ever felt is that my mother-in-law and some of the other residents do not always like the food - however, alternatives are offered.

From our very first visit, we were made to feel welcome and special to the extent that one could forget that there were other residents and families requiring the same level of attention.
This level of attention has continued from the resident's respite care period to permanent residency.
When visiting
there is always staff available who are willing, friendly and able to help.
The activities seem to be varied and innovative.
The meals appear to be ample and straightforward with simple choices always available.
Maybe the inclusion of some slightly more exciting items on the menu, from time to time, would be of interest.
The excellent premises lend to a hotel atmosphere as opposed to a care home.
Keeping cool this summer has been a challenge for everyone and generally, the house has coped very well.
Maybe at some stage, the addition of window blinds in the bedrooms could be advantageous.
Also, if possible, a table (maybe a let-down to save space) or small desk could be added, so that residents could spread out newspapers etc for reading.

I enjoy the freedom the home gives us as a family, we are free to make tea and coffee which makes mum feel that she is entertaining us. We can have a meal with her at any time without prior booking. The home put on a BBQ with live music. I have special memories of us singing along to The Yellow Submarine
(priceless).

I moved my mum from an alternative care provider in the area two months ago and was immediately impressed with the standard of Skylark. Mum has dementia and a particular need for company, understanding and stimulation through a structured range of activities and these are continually provided for her
at Skylark, in stark contrast to the previous home.
Interaction with myself as a relative is also excellent, with the home providing constant feedback on Mum's activities and general well being.
I am delighted with the overall standard of care provided at Skylark.

My father-in-law stayed in Skylark House Care Home whilst recovering from hospital. Fortunately, he's been well enough to go home. The atmosphere is very positive and staff are friendly. My father-in-law has enjoyed his stay and made some friends during this time. He has especially enjoyed the sing-a-long
and cinema room and the standard of the food.
It's been reassuring for our family to know he is happy and well looked after. Nursing staff have been brilliant and very patient with me in helping organise appointment transport and medication.

Mum has been at Skylark for 1 year and her life has improved by staying there.
All the staff are professional and caring especially in welfare and cleanliness of mum. She seems to be busy when we visit (lots going on) and cared for, fed and entertained. What more could we ask for. Thanks to all.

I had initially visited Skylark House Care Home on three separate occasions, each time I was very impressed with the facilities/rooms/overall standard.
The reception staff were so welcoming/management were efficient and friendly and the carers are wonderful. All the staff in all areas are a credit

I joined the Skylark House team in 2016 as Deputy Home Manager in 2016. Care UK’s reputation as a respected care provider was well-known. It prioritises its people’s development and the wellbeing and happiness of all residents, and I wanted to join a company with that clarity of vision.


Being with residents is the best part of my job and I do everything I can to make a difference to their day. I start and finish every day with a smile, and that makes me happy.
I was thrilled to be named one of the top 50 leaders in care by Care Home Professional magazine. I’m so proud to have worked my way up from Care Assistant to Home Manager in eight years. I’m now determined to take Skylark House to an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating. I have a great team around me and we’re dedicated to residents’ happiness and wellbeing, and to fulfilling their dreams. I look forward to seeing you at Skylark House.
