My mother moved to Leah Lodge at the end of January 2020, when the care home she previously lived in closed down. Leah Lodge took great care in helping her to settle just before lockdown. During the lockdown, their care, support, communication and kindness has been outstanding. She could not be in a
better place.

Mum spent her last nine months at Leah Lodge - interspersed with hospital stays of one kind or another. We could not have hoped for a more caring environment. She was there from mid-Jan 2020 to October, so through Covid lockdown. Everything about the place is good - the communication from the management
team, communication with the carers who are with the residents daily, the practical arrangements, the look and feel of the place - which is clean, warm, homely and welcoming. But most importantly the carers who looked after Mum were genuinely fond of her and looked after her tenderly and conscientiously, even though, especially to start with Mum's behaviour could be challenging (to say the least!). They are such kind and lovely people - really choosing to do the work because they are good at it and it makes such a difference, both for the resident and for the family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We were delighted to know that our resident was able to have her birthday celebrated in spite of all the restrictions from Covid-19. She received gifts and the staff had a birthday cake for her to make it special. They also sent us photographs of the birthday which was unexpected and very much appreciated.
They went to everyone who knows her and it made such a difference to see her well and happy in this situation when we cannot go and visit her ourselves. The thoughtfulness and care of the staff was outstanding. Thank you.

We had to find a care home for my dad after his vascular dementia became such that he was no longer safe at home. Unfortunately, this was exactly at the time that Corona Virus was at its peak, and we were extremely nervous about the prospect of admitting him. We were reassured from the outset of our
Leah Lodge journey. Everyone has been sympathetic to our concerns, and their understanding, empathy and also, efficiency has made the entire process so much easier. My dad has settled in well, and although we have not been able to visit him during this time, we have video called him, and he was so well and positive, he looked better than he has done in recent weeks. We have received daily updates on his progress and have been reassured that we can talk to him any time we want.
We cannot recommend Leah Lodge enough. Our experience has only been positive. Big thanks to everyone involved for making this such a smooth process.

We had to, unexpectedly, find a care home for my 93-year-old mother after a fall. Leah Lodge was unlike any other home I looked at - it has a wonderful atmosphere, it feels very homely, and all the staff really care bout every resident. My Mum settled in so quickly (not easy with dementia) and all my
family felt Mum was getting the best care possible.

Spotlessly clean, attractive decor, comfortable and cosy rooms. The staff were welcoming to all visitors, and there was nothing but kindness, respect and dignity given to my mother throughout her two-month stay. They dealt with her complex needs professionally and efficiently, and I always felt happy

The reason for coming to Leah Lodge was for respite care whilst our full-time carer at home had to be away for 2 weeks. At the Lodge, we were provided with 2 separate adjacent rooms, this proved a problem because of my wife's needs.
The next day, the two rooms were converted into a double bedroom
and a sitting room. This was ideal. My wife and I found ourselves in a very pleasant environment with as much help as we needed. The weather was very warm and everything was adapted to make us comfortable. Lovely garden.

Everyone at Leah Lodge seems very happy to be there. The staff work tirelessly to ensure the residents are well cared for and engage them in various activities such as flower arranging, gardening, painting and local trips out. No one is left to sit alone and one of the things that has stood out for
me is the caring attitude of the staff. Mum is happy and well-cared for. Leah Lodge are happy for me to visit at any time of the day, which is great for unexpected drop-ins. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone.

My mother has stayed in other homes for respite care and always has a long list of "complaints".


She only had a few about Leah Lodge.


Her wet nappies (particularly at night) were not changed quickly enough/not at all.
Her clothes getting "lost" (we are trying to deal with that).
I would like

enquiries to be dealt with more quickly.


On the plus side the home doesn't smell, mum gets a shower, she is treated with respect, the entertainment is good. Staff seem like a good crew. This is a place I can deal with.

This care home employs people who have "caring" running through their whole being. I cannot fault the care that my mother is receiving. Where this home falls down is on activities. Although a schedule of activities is published they do not take place as often as they should.

My mum moved into Leah Lodge a couple of months ago. The staff have done everything they can to make her safe and happy.
Everywhere in the house is beautifully furnished and decorated. The standard of cleanliness extremely high. Everyone speaks kindly to each other being staff to resident or staff
to staff.
All of mum's friends and relatives that visit have all been made welcome.

What I do:
I am the General Manager of Rectory Court and Leah Lodge, as such I have the overall responsibility of the homes with the support from my team. My role can vary from day to day and no two days are ever the same.


My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant, then going back to further education to become a manager first for Suffolk County Council and then into the private sector. I have a passion for Dementia care and hold an advanced Dementia training qualification in addition I have a Dementia mapping qualification which I undertook with Bradford University.


About me:
I am have been married for over 30 years to Adrian a teacher, I have two sons Tim and Tom both currently studying at university. I am a highly competitive person who likes to succeed.

About Me:


I am originally from the Wirral and I moved to London with my husband in 2015 due to his career and have created a lovely life here.


We now have a 7-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter who keep us busy most of the time. We enjoy going on holiday and socialising with friends whenever we get the chance.

Whilst completing these varied roles the best part is being out visiting the homes, helping the employees and mainly caring for the residents which is what brings me to work as an administrator at Leah Lodge.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I am proud to be Head Housekeeper in Leah Lodge.


I have over 12 years’ experience in a care home environment and before that in 4-5 star hotels.


Myself and my highly-experienced team, are really enjoying making sure that very high standards are maintained, so that residents, visitors and staff have a clean, safe, welcoming environment to live in, visit and work.


I enjoy music, eating out and walking my dog Edna.

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2017

What I Do:
I’m the head chef here at Leah Lodge I started as a 2nd chef at Rectory Court and was delighted to become Head Chef; my role now is to work closely with my team and all our residents to provide a nutritional and healthy menu with the odd treat. I liaise with our residents to find out their likes and dislikes and provide an alternative meal of their choice if they wish. Me and my team will always aim to please and provide a good dining experience.


My Experience:
I have 6 years of experience working in catering and have enjoyed every moment, learning new things all the time. I have a BETEC level 2 in hospitality and catering and an NVQ level 2 in kitchen services and food safety.


About Me:
When I’m not working I spend time with my three sons and visiting my family, I like socialising with my friends and having a good meal out with somebody else cooking.
