We knew as soon as we looked around Edwardstow that it would be a good place for Mum. It was so full of light; colourful furnishings and smartly decorated. Once Mum was in and we got to know the staff, it just confirmed our decision was the right one. Without exception, all the staff, from all departments, are so friendly and caring. So kind to Mum, and the rest of the family, and always respectful of the fact that her room is her private space.
She looks forward to her meals, and with good reason, the quality and variety of food is excellent. She has made good use of the balcony, sitting out in the sun, with the independence of being able to access it on her own, and enjoyed being taken down into the garden for group activities.

She has settled in well, which is all we could ask for, as it puts our minds at rest that she is being well-cared for, in a place of safety, that we can visit as often as we wish.

My friend has great difficulty feeding herself and appears to have lost weight. She has very poor use of her hands and has lost her grip. She needs help with food which she rarely gets.

My husband said that he had enjoyed being in Edwarstow Court as everyone there was kind and friendly. One person there made him laugh, and they got on well. His room was comfortable and looked very nice, and he particularly liked looking out the window at the trees outside. The food was excellent, and he enjoyed helping the staff where possible.

Thanks for your review. We are so pleased to hear that your husband enjoys living with us at Edwardstow, has settled in well and enjoys socialising with the other residents. Do come and say hello next time you visit. Many thanks

My father-in-law has rapidly declined health-wise in the past three weeks. I am so grateful for the support and gentle care he and his family have been given, we could not ask for more. We are welcomed to visit at any time and looked after when we do. All I can say is thank you.

This was our first visit to see my uncle. The home looked amazing from the outside and was all decorated for the jubilee celebrations. We had issues with travel and the home manager came to get us from the local train station. On arrival, we were offered lunch, which was absolutely amazing a range of cold meats and salad with lots of different added bits like beetroot and pickles. We had a lovely visit in the cafe and our relative loves living at Edwardstow Court.

My sister and I were very concerned about putting our mother into care as she is a very independent person, but she needed a safe environment which could handle her dementia condition. The carers understood her needs and work around and respect her personality and needs. I highly recommend this establishment, the staff are absolutely amazing, kind professional and completely there with the residents all the time.

My father has lived at Edwardstow Court for three years and his and our experience has been extremely positive. There are lots of positive things, such as the quality of the rooms, the excellent food, the garden and the nature path. The fundamental things for me are the wonderful staff, the quality of care they provide and the high level of respect they share with everyone.

We are grateful that Mum has been safe and secure for the 4 months. Meals - she often didn't know what she was getting until it arrived. When she did see a menu the meal delivered was frequently not what she ordered. She was only invited to join activities a couple of times in 4 months. Very little opportunity for mum to be helped in increasing her mobility. Communication across the home could be greatly improved. Contact with GP and medical care was good. We realise that covid has affected staff levels and services usually provided.

I count myself lucky that Edwardstow Court is just 5 minutes drive away and that they could take my wife in as a resident just before the first covid lockdown. We already knew the place as we had been going in to join the singing group which they held there and so were familiar with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of its design and finish of the building and so had no hesitation in deciding that this was the right place for my wife.

My father was a resident for a short space of time during the second phase of lockdown. Unfortunately, the standard of care was not in line with that which we as a family was led to expect upon our initial dealings with the home. In particular, the communication with us by the management left us disappointed. An example of this was that he was transferred to a hospital without our knowledge and without essential items. Whilst the facilities and setting seem good, in our experience, the care itself needs to improve.

I find my mother's care at Edwardstow completely satisfactory in every way. Although, I assume that due to exceptional Covid-19 protection; access is limited and a little strained at this time (Oct 2021).

My mother went to Edwardstow for a period of respite. She is very frail and anxious. From the start, the staff were welcoming and reassuring, going to great lengths to try to help my mother feel better and cared for. When she became more confused, they acred professional and immediately sought appropriate medical help.

My elderly father was discharged from the hospital with a recommendation he should become a full-time care home resident. He didn't engage with hospital staff, and I think rather depressed. Within a week of residing at Edwardstow Court, he was noticeably livelier, and now several weeks later, is very contented and enjoying the food and the personal care he receives from the truly excellent staff. It is a huge weight off my mind to know that he is being cared for so very well, and as a visitor, I am so welcomed by all of the friendly staff, who keep me fully informed of my dad's day to day activities.

I looked into Edwardstow Court as a nursing home for my father during the lockdown. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and advice that was provided prior to his arrival. I was shown around the nursing home on a virtual tour. I was given all the information and support I required to make the decision to relocate my father, which was a very complex situation. Since his move to Edwardstow, he has thrived. He has been given the independence he lacked and been shown the respect he deserves. I am continually delighted by the innovative and interesting ways that the staff make his day to day life more interesting; a virtual cruise, a visit from a shetland pony, to name but a few! The staff are kind, patient and respectful. I could not have made a better choice, and I am relieved that he is in such good hands, particularly under the current Covid restrictions.

A big thank you to all concerned.
