Excellent care from start to finish, even accommodating a COVID test a few days beforehand so that my mother would not have to be confined during her week of respite care. The staff were all knowledgeable, courteous and supportive, answered questions fully and catered for my mother's individual needs. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well-kept. Although unable to visit, we had a video tour so my mother could see the room where she would be staying, as well as the different sitting areas and outside areas. I would thoroughly recommend Edwardstow Court.

Mum and Dad always saved "for a rainy day" so mum was in a position to self-fund.
For a variety of reasons I have been to a lot of hospitals and living here instead is heaven. The carers don't bug me but are here when I need them. I've found great friendship. I can use the word comfort but that doesn't begin to touch it. I'm just really lucky.

The care at St John's Edwardstow Court is exemplary. My father had stayed at one other care home and visited several. He said he would never want to be in another. St John's Edwardstow Court was the best, in his experience.

My husband attends twice a week and benefits from the daycare facility. He enjoys coming to Edwardstow, as he receives an outstanding level of care at all times. The staff are, without exception, kind and considerate at all times, and treat my husband with respect. I receive the same level of kindness - nothing is too much trouble. The staff and management go out of their way to make both, my husband and myself, feel valued.
My father spent his last few weeks in Edwardstow Court and I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their care, compassion and empathy. This made his last hours peaceful and safe. We were treated with respect and their friendly approach made us feel at home and part of the family.

She had vascular dementia and required high levels of dementia and personal care to maintain her dignity and happiness. This care was provided by all staff to a very high standard. I cannot express enough how overwhelmed I always was with the care shown by all staff and the support they provided to me through my mother's stay and since her passing.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have found somewhere so caring and welcoming to both of us. Even the chef came out to welcome my husband on his return. Everything is catered to his needs and all the staff are just wonderful, giving me confidence that my husband is well looked after. I only wish they would accept National Health funding as our resources are much depleted.
I enjoyed my stay with you. The food was very good, the staff were all lovely and I made a new friend that I am going to visit.

From the very beginning, I found all the staff extremely kind and helpful and I would certainly not hesitate to recommend this home.
Mum has enjoyed her stay and will hopefully be using Edwardstow Court again in the future. Thank you.
Facilities excellent but would like it if the piano worked properly and the destination rooms had related activities/books in them.

Early days for my dad but I am happy that he is in a safe and secure environment with carers available 24 hours a day - night times were a problem at home.

Having been to other care homes in the past, this was by far the best. The staff were very obliging and attentive, the food was excellent, with a varied menu. I am hoping they can have me again for respite care.

Edwardstow Court is outstanding on two counts: the quality of its care staff and the physical surroundings in a purpose built home with a high standard of finish.
The care staff are, without exception, cheerful, considerate and very patient. They are highly attentive and offer personal care to each resident tailored to their needs.
The en-suite rooms are well-appointed and the public spaces are light, airy, well-decorated and immaculately kept. The design has been very well thought out.
Its limitations at the moment are solely a function of its newness. Because it is still far from full, the current range of activities is limited and the lounges and different activity areas are under-exploited. When the home is working nearer to capacity, it will be a very good residential home.
Thoroughly recommend.
The meals were absolutely wonderful, the furnishings are wonderful. The bed was really comfortable. The facilities are excellent and all I needed. Moving in was reasonably easy. I enjoyed the activities including the police dogs and the singing even though I was slightly out of tune. I will...

Initially, Sue started as a Carer at Jubilee Lodge before being promoted to Care Leader in 2010. When Edwardstow Court opened in 2018, Sue made the move across and has been part of the Edwardstow family ever since.
“I enjoy being part of the team at Edwardstow Court and being a part of our resident’s everyday lives. We always encourage them to live their best life at Edwardstow Court” Sue said.

I have worked in the catering industry for the past 12 years, starting as a pot washer and working my way up to head chef in a local pub, then moving into catering for members at a local golf club before moving here to Edwardstow in September last year.
I started here as a cook and have recently been promoted to head chef. I would say my favourite part of working here is being able to provide quality home-cooked meals for our residents, especially those living with dementia, as mealtimes are often a special time in their day and I am committed to making them memorable with meals that they enjoy, and the feelings that it can evoke are something words can’t describe.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, especially my younger sister, niece and nephew, as well as watching all sorts of sports like football, horse racing, darts and American football.

I have worked at Edwardstow Court since the day we opened in March 2018. I first worked as a care leader, and now I work in the housekeeping team, which I enjoy as I am still able to interact with the residents and families.
This is my favourite part of my job; I like to make a difference to someone's day. I have previously worked at Specsavers making glasses for customers. I have been married to my husband for 46 years, and we enjoy holidays in the sun. I also enjoy spending time with my beautiful grandson and granddaughter.

Caroline is one of our Activities and Wellbeing Co-ordinators, and a part-time Administrator at Edwardstow Court.
Regular engagement in activities and meaningful occupation can improve cognitive function, increase mood, and even enhance physical health for residents, especially those living with Dementia.Activity Co-ordinators are vital in facilitating these opportunities for social interactions as well enabling residents to pursue or even learn new interests and skills.
Reflecting on her time at Edwardstow Court so far, Caroline said: ‘My journey at the home started as a Housekeeper in August 2024. The desire to have more interaction with the residents has led me to pursue my current role’
The caring and creative characteristics needed in her current roles come naturally to Caroline.‘I have always had a caring nature and try to be helpful where possible, now I can put both qualities into my work to make a real difference. Working on reception enhances my relationship with the families and being part of the activities team allows me to enjoy a full schedule of meaningful activities with the residents.’
