Oak Manor, Shefford is an exemplary Care Home. We cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful manager and her staff.
Sadly Mum wasn't a resident for very long. However, every single member of staff (especially the carers but also all the other staff) were caring, kind, thoughtful, gentle and compassionate
towards not only our Mum but also myself and my brother. Mum passed away peacefully in a lovely bedroom surrounded by some of her personal belongings and I was able to be at her bedside the whole time.
Oak Manor is maintained with the utmost care and attention. The environment is homely, the food is delicious, the staff appear to enjoy working there and, by their own admission, are like one big happy family. They genuinely 'care' about their residents and want it to feel like 'home'. They engage with the residents and the regular activities enhance their quality of life.
A big thank you to the manager and all her staff. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending Oak Manor.
Reply from Cecilia Adamek, Home Manager at Oak Manor Care HomeWe are truly grateful to have been able to provide the best care possible for your mum and to ensure that her end of life was peaceful and dignified. Our team is truly amazing and they always do their very best for our residents and their families.

I have no words to express my gratitude to everyone who made Vaisakhi so special for mum. A very important Sikh celebration. One staff member collected a special meal from London Sweet Center and even paid for it to treat Mum. Another staff member and others on their shift decorated her room with lights
etc. Mum was overwhelmed. Thank you so much to everyone at Oak Manor. Place my mum calls her home.
Reply from Cecilia Adamek, Home Manager at Oak Manor Care HomeThank you so very much for your kind words. At Oak Manor, our aim is to help our residents live later life well. Knowing how special Vaisakhi is for Mum, we did our best to celebrate it with the little things that matter. It's a joy to see her happy.

My father-in-law has been here for the last 5 months. He has settled in. Lots of things to praise. The staff are wonderful, helpful and supportive. The room is clean and private. The food is nutritious. He has gained much of the weight he lost. The management are always here to ensure standards are
high.

My mum has been in this care home for a number of years, I have always been very happy with her care here.
The staff are always there for, not just your parent, but also for you, if you are feeling upset seeing how your parent is deteriorating.
If any problems, for example, my mum is very weak, and
when she had a fall, they will call you straight away, so you are always informed of what is happening.
I am very impressed with this home.
Reply from Cecilia Adamek, Home Manager at Oak Manor Care HomeThank you very much for your kind word. We are glad that you are happy with our service, and it is a pleasure to look after your mum. Overall an excellent care home, not just care staff but all staff; maintenance, catering and cleaning all provide a high level of care and support. In December I witnessed the activity coordinator interact with an almost comatosed, bed ridden resident, by playing the style of Christmas music she knew
the resident liked. The resident responded and we all held hands and provided, literally, a touching moment at this important time of year. Such individual care and support is Oak Manor's strength.

A major power cut at 8 pm in the surrounding area. Carers stayed behind to support the night staff. Off-duty staff attended too, supporting three colleagues to treasure residents.
This is truly a home where when or what happens day or night their dedication you the residents goes up and beyond.

Excellent staff and management.
Lovely, clean and modern, caring environment.
I am always fully informed about everything.
The staff are welcoming and kind and look after my mother exceptionally well with genuine empathy. When I or my sons visit we always have a good feeling and interact with the
staff. Two staff members have been amazing in administrating a very quick entry for my mother at a time when she felt vulnerable. She now feels safe and looked after.

The staff bring joy and laughter to those who have made Oak Manor their home. There is always an activity or someone to chat to laugh with enjoy knitting and nattering, singing or craft, dancing or praying. The spiritual life of each resident is central to many of the activities including songs of praise
and Bible study. My mother-in-law is very happy there and loves the home-cooked food. Relatives can join for meals in the very smart dining room or sit and chat over a hot chocolate in the coffee lounge downstairs. Local pubs, restaurants and garden centres are a sure favourite for a trip out any time you visit. The chaplains and volunteers are very special people and add an extra touch of care to a wonderful happy home.

I can’t thank the staff team enough for the welcome and care they are giving to my mother-in-law. Oak Manor is a wonderful care home and the staff team make the residents feel they are part of a big family. They have done everything they can to make her feel at home and to settle in. Her room is cosy
and well equipped and the communal areas very homely. The activities are of an excellent quality and there is so much fun and laughter around the place. Having a church service every Sunday and other times during the week to focus on spiritual things is a huge support for my relative. Thank you Oak Manor Team.

My wife is a new resident at Oak Manor and I cannot praise too highly the environment, facilities and most of all, the excellent caring staff. Without exception, all have shown empathy and kindness above and beyond my expectations. Settling in has been difficult for my wife but the encouragement and

To all the staff at Oak Manor, thank you so much for all your hard work on Saturday in preparing for Mum’s 90th party.
The party was a huge success, and all went perfectly. All the guests were very complimentary about the organisation and the buffet, especially the birthday cake and the cupcakes!
Mum
had the best time, meeting relatives and friends, many of whom she had not seen for a long time.
So, once again, thanks for everything – it could not have been better!

Fantastic care for my mother over the last few weeks as she has been unwell recovering from COVID. They have been great trying to get her to back to her old self. It's been great to be able to go into the home and sit with her in the café. The staff are absolutely fantastic and go the extra mile to

My mother has been a resident for a year. I have found all the staff caring and welcoming when we visit or when others from further away come to see her.
Mum has mixed dementia but always knows her family, although she may not remember when she is or who has visited; a testament to the care she is
given is the fact that she is happy to stay and leaving her is not a problem. I would thank all staff for the care they have shown.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.904) out of 10 for Oak Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.904 for Oak Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (343 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 376 Ratings = 4.904
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Manor Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Cecilia

Cecilia Adamek

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2018

Cecilia has worked in care since the age of 18, originally training as a nurse in Romania. She brought her passion and dedication for care to Oak Manor in 2018 and was promoted from Senior Care Assistant to Deputy Home Manager and then to Home Manager in 2023. In addition to her nursing qualification, Cecilia holds a Level 5 NVQ in Health and Social Care.

One of her proudest moments was when Oak Manor received Shefford Town Council's Civic Award in recognition of its work to build strong community links, reduce isolation, and create opportunities for people of all ages to connect. Cecilia said: "At MHA Oak Manor, we believe in creating a home where everyone feels valued, connected, and supported—and this award reaffirms that those efforts are making a real difference."

Outside of work, Cecilia enjoys crafting, reading, and travelling. She loves discovering new places, especially those rich in history.
