The manager of the home went out of her way to offer respite for my mother-in-law when we needed it most at the start of the Coronavirus lockdown. She has been a previous resident of this wonderful home and we are so pleased that she is safe and very well cared for.

I would just like to thank the Manager as I needed to get my mam into the home for respite at very short notice. My request was dealt with in a very responsive and quick way. I was so relieved to get mam a bed in the middle of all the chaos of Coronavirus. I cannot thank the Manager enough for looking after my mam and would highly recommend.

As a charity we understand the pressures and anxieties families can be under when caring for a loved one; we would always want to be able to offer any support we can both to families and their loved ones.

I stayed at Montpellier Manor for 1 week for respite care. The home is fabulous, lovely rooms, the staff are caring and I felt like I was on holiday. I did not take part in any activities so I cannot comment on those. I was not entirely happy with the food, but this was my fault as I made the wrong choices and did not tell anyone that I wanted something else. I have already booked up for September.

Reply from Gail Starling, Home Manager at Montpellier Manor

Thank you for your feedback; we are looking forward for your next visit in September and will ensure we check with you regarding your food choices.

Our mother stayed for a weeks respite care. She settled in well and was treated well by all the staff; made to feel safe and comfortable.

This was her fourth visit, and we're more than happy for her to return again.

My aunt stayed for a week's respite care. Her stay was excellent. She was very happy with everything but the food, which she said was cold. Staff were very friendly and we were so impressed that she is booking in for a stay later in the year.

I have been surprised and pleased by how well my mother-in-law has been since she moved into Montpellier Manor. She has been treated with dignity and respect since she moved in in November 2019, but the care and companionship of staff and residents has improved her quality of life beyond all my expectations - I cannot praise the staff enough. As a visitor, I feel welcome and am never treated with anything other than complete respect and friendliness. I could not have imagined a better home for my mother-in-law at this stage in her life.

Montpellier Manor, I found to be first-class, having worked in most care homes in the area as a flooring expert, this home must be one of the best and in a great location with good parking and easy access.

My mum has been in Montpellier Manor for 14 months. The staff uniformly treat her like family. Now she is coming to the end of her life I was concerned she may have needed to be moved to a nursing facility. The manageress of Montpellier Manor reassured me in her words 'whatever your mum needs we will provide'. They have also supported our family.

If I could, I would give them so much more than 10 out of 10.

Reply from Gail Starling, Home Manager at Montpellier Manor

Thank you for your kind feedback. We were all part of mum's family and will sadly miss her.

Mum has been a resident for 15 months and we are so grateful she got to live in Montpellier Manor. Mum became terminally ill very quickly and the staff have all been wonderful, their care has been very compassionate and nothing was too much trouble for them. Not only have they looked after mum so well, they have supported the family through this difficult time too. A massive thank you to MHA for creative such caring homes.

My father has dementia and moved into Montpellier Manor last month. He has a spacious ensuite room and really enjoys the food and variety of activities (including weekly music therapy). He also enjoys meeting residents from different floors in the Garden Cafe area, which provides a lovely space for residents and their visitors to relax and socialise. He is looking forward to using and helping with the beautiful gardens in the Spring. All the staff are kind and patient with him. The chaplaincy is a great asset to the home and has played a big part in helping us both feel welcome. We visited several other homes before choosing this one which, in my opinion, is exceptionally good.

My mother was in the care home for just a month before she died in December. During her time there she was treated with care, dignity and respect. They cared for her until the end in a respectful and professional manner, always respecting her needs. Staff were professional and caring towards family members also.

The facilities are very good. The home is always kept very clean and tidy. The staff are helpful and friendly and a lot of thought has gone into individual care. The staff at the home take individual needs very seriously. The entertainment each day is fun and social. The meals are good variety and excellent quality.

My mum was happy and seemed relaxed and very well cared for by the staff. Mum is fiercely independent with her dementia and loves to be outdoors. The staff respected this, took her out and were kind, caring and compassionate with her. She looked much better for her stay and quickly transitioned back into her home with no anxiety which indicates how well the staff cared for her physical and mental wellbeing. Delighted with how happy she was.

Mum said on leaving, "I hope to come back soon", "I will miss you" (to a member of staff), "Thank you for having me".

I have used the words I heard my Mum say as her respite visit will have gone from her memory, but her feelings of happiness will still be with her. Thank you Montepellier.

This was the first time my mum has had to experience residential care. She and I were made to feel welcome, comfortable and confident with every aspect of our experience at Montpellier Manor. From the setting, the rooms, the staff, the attention to detail in all areas we were extremely impressed. The management team, the kitchen team, the carers all work together to ensure every point of my mum's stay was personal to her. I couldn't be more grateful and confident to the home and team and would fully recommend for other loved ones. We will be using this home again.

My husband has mild dementia and has been a resident since November 2018 and I joined him in December 2018. We chose this MHA home because we have been active Methodists for many years. A trial stay in August 2018 had convinced us we could make this our home.
We joined in the activities as much as possible. It was a great disappointment that the activities co-ordinator left 24/5/19 and the chaplain in June 2019. Replacements have not yet taken place.
Positions have obviously been advertised and interviews have taken place.

Monthly meetings with the manager are greatly appreciated. Menus provide frequent comment - some food is very appealing, some not and it is distressing to see so much food binned, considering the high fees we pay.

Reply from Gail Starling, Home Manager at Montpellier Manor
Thank you for your feedback. We have now appointed two full-time Activity Coordinators.

We have also set up a monthly Food Committee to allow residents choice and input in setting up and monitoring the menus.
