I can’t praise Mercia Grange highly enough. The change in my father since taking up residence some months ago has been marked. The warm, attentive and extremely professional staff at Mercia have provided him with an environment where he feels safe, valued and able to be himself and for this we are eternally grateful.

As a son or daughter choosing your parents care or residential home is one of your greatest responsibilities. Trust me when I say that Mercia makes this decision a very easy one to make indeed; a decision that we have not regretted in any way at all.

My husband is in the nursing unit and is treated with such a high standard of care. It makes his life much more comfortable. All our family and friends who visit are much impressed with the facilities, but it is his care that is most appreciated.

Great place. The staff can't do enough for my mother and their care is second to none. It is just like a five-star hotel. I myself would not have a problem moving in! What a brilliant place, thank you all.

The staff are usually friendly and the facilities are clean. Grandma seems to be pleased with the activities provided and the day trips. It's a shame that the residents can only eat in dining rooms on the same floor as their room but I understand that there must be policies in place that do not allow this. The coffee shop downstairs is a pleasant place to meet up with Grandma.

My mum is looked after very well by the carers on the Wilson floor. She is safe, well dressed, clean and is eating well. Two particular members of staff are good at coming to look after Mum when I leave. I really enjoy volunteering every Wednesday.

From day one, Mum has been treated with genuine care and concern. It has taken a while, but she is now settled and comfortable at Mercia Grange. During this period, the staff have shown tremendous patience and perseverance, ensuring she feels welcome and participated in the many activities. I can't imagine her getting the same level of care and attention anywhere else. And the cakes are fantastic.

My mum has the best care possible. All staff are always friendly and have a smile on their face. Even though there are excellent activities, Mum will not join in many despite friendly encouragement.

Mercia Grange provides excellent care for my increasingly frail mother. They provide peace of mind for our family knowing that she has 24/7 care and help. But care of her physical needs plays only a part as her brain and general optimism are enhanced by the fantastic outings and activities on offer at the home.

A close friend of mine who did not have any family was in need of end of life care. Mercia Grange was very supportive in helping us to move him into the home and giving our friend all the quality care and support he needed. Although it was a short amount of time he was in Mercia Grange, the care was outstanding and the environment helped to lift all out sprits at this very difficult time.

Review from Jeffrey H (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 16 July 2019 Submitted via Website

My wife and I were in need of an emergency care home place for my mother-in-law during Christmas 2018. Mercia Grange had the capacity so we admitted her without knowing much about the care home. In the time since, my father-in-law was also admitted and in fact, passed away whilst at Mercia Grange.

The whole experience from the staff at Mercia Grange has been overwhelming. They have shown nothing but compassion, understanding and at (appropriate) times, humour during a challenging time. The level of care shown to both my parents-in-law has been way beyond what I would have expected, not to mention the care and compassion directed at my wife and her sister and indeed everyone who visited. This compassion and kindness extended to all the staff at Mercia without exception.

I cannot speak highly enough of the place and would recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely overwhelmed and speechless at the level of care this home offers, to both the residents and the family of those residents. The staff at this care home could not have done anymore to make my grandparents (residents at the home) more settled, supported, comfortable and important, as did they for me and my family when experiencing the difficult journey of my grandparents’ illnesses. Absolutely incredible and inspiring.

I cannot rate Mercia Grange highly enough. My mom and dad are residents and the care they have received has been excellent. The staff are supportive and gentle. Since my dads passing the staff have been sensitive and supportive to the family and nothing is too much trouble. Mercia Grange has been a big part of my life since Christmas and as a family, we couldn't have got through our difficult time without them.

My mother has been at Mercia Grange now for the last four months. She is so happy and contented; having settled in within a few days. The staff are wonderful, full of fun and professional at the same time. There is always something going on entertainment wise and you hear laughter so much, which can only be a good thing. As a family, we are extremely grateful for everything you do for our mother. Thank you everybody at Mercia Grange.

They worked with family to get mom in quickly following the death of my father. She has eaten better since being at Mercia Grange than at home. Staff are all friendly and caring. Any issues they phone to advise and welcome family input to the care plan.

Mom couldn't be in a better place, she is safe and has made friends with other residents.

Michael McNelisJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

I love being part of Care UK as they value people and have a total focus on delivering outstanding-quality care.

Mercia Grange is a stunning care home with a great team.

I joined Care UK after working as an interim manager at a not-for-profit organisation. I received a post-graduate degree in Business Management from Leeds University Business School and a Certificate in Management from Leicester University.

As a Home Manager, you must be totally focused on providing a quality living experience for the residents who we are entrusted to care for. You need to be positive and value the team that delivers care in the home, as well as ensuring any concerns of residents and their families are addressed immediately.

My favourite part of the day is being on the floor with residents and team members when they are enjoying their time together. It’s wonderful to have laughter and smiling faces in the home. The most important part of my role is ensuring all aspects of residents’ daily living experiences are centred around their wishes.

Outside of work, family is my number one priority. As I live in a livery yard, horses are a big part of my interests outside of work. I do the maintenance and leave the horse riding to my wife and daughters. I’m also an animal lover: we have dogs, a cat, five ducks and chickens.
