Absolutely excellent, the staff are so friendly and accommodating and the care home is always pristine.
I cannot rate the staff or facilities highly enough.

The care in this home is excellent. I chose here because when I called in without an appointment, and I was greeted by a lovely, informative receptionist. Was shown around straight away. All the staff, from nurses to catering, were friendly and welcoming. It was immediately obvious to me this was the
best place. It was about how the staff interacted with the people living there. During his stay, all my dad's needs were met, and he was treated well. Thank you to everyone who works here.

This care home and the care they have given my mother-in-law have been outstanding. The attention to detail to my mother-in-law's needs has been exceptional. A special mention to the manager of the care home, who goes out of her way to get to know my mother-in-law and all the other residents under her

Can honestly say that the leadership and staff at this care home are amazing. In my job I have visited many care homes and Woodlands stands out for its approach to providing a “home” where everyone feels comfortable, valued and cared for. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering a care home

The transition to the care home for Mum was made really easy. The home liaised with third parties to make the whole process stress-free. Welcome on arrival made Mum feel at ease straight away. She is now looking forward to making new friends and joining in the many activities on offer.

Mum is extremely happy and settled in Woodlands Lodge. The staff have been fantastic. Mum has received excellent care since she started at Woodlands Lodge last May.
Mum has made friends, and she joins un all the activities. We have been delighted with our decision to make Woodlands Lodge Mum's home.

Lovely facilities, very community oriented which is so nice to keep everybody busy and upbeat. My nan was a very particular lady so the fact she was so settled here was almost hard believe. She was fussy and only liked certain meals which weren’t often on the set menu however the chefs would always
accommodate her which was superb. Many a times I’d sit in the garden in the sun with my nan which was her favourite thing to do. A couple of members of staff in particular were absolutely outstanding with my nan - she adored them both. Staff were attentive, and gave my nan the round the clock care she needed. Thank you for giving her a home away from home. She loved to keep her door open so she could see the other residents and staff.

In 2021 I came over from the US to look after my mum who lived in Formby. She had advanced Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. I was only able to take care of her for a few months before I realised she needed more than I could do. I cannot tell you how grateful I was to Woodlands Lodge for the excellent
and empathetic care that they provided to my mum, making her life safer and more secure. I was able to go back to being her daughter and we had many great days until her passing in May 2023.

When we first looked at Woodlands Lodge we were told my mum should look at it as her home and not a home. The staff do everything to make her feel that. She gets up later in the morning and breakfast is brought to her room when she is ready. She would admit to being a fussy eater but thoroughly enjoys
the food provided. When she hasn't been feeling well, staff are happy to prepare something special for her. Staff are welcoming to visitors and are happy to talk about any concerns you may have at any time. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

The facilities and staff have gradually enabled my mother-in-law to get over the trauma of her daughter's recent passing and having to move out of her own home. After finding it hard at first, she has been helped to adapt and accept having to now live in care and take advantage of all the benefits that
are available. She will be ninety-five in a few months so she has really done well to integrate, which is mainly due to the package this care home has offered her with its high standard of service.

Lovely friendly care home. Everyone is very caring and compassionate. The home has a calmness about it which is perfect for my Mum. The staff are always very helpful and nothing is a problem for them. The laundry is so well run, literally washed and hung back in the wardrobe the same day! The activities
really keep Mum entertained which is great and they’re seven days a week, twice daily! The food is lovely and if my mum wants something else that’s not on the menu it’s not a problem (within reason of course). If only all care homes were as good as this! Thanks Woodlands for being there for my Mum.

My Mother has recently come to Woodlands Lodge to live. To date we have been delighted with her care, it has surpassed our expectations. All the taff work together as a team and always put the interest of the resident first. We feel confident that Mum is safe. Mum enjoys the daily activities and looks

My Mum's care at Woodlands Lodge has been consistently excellent - combining compassion, professionalism and kindness. All of the staff know her well and take a genuine interest in her well-being. As she approaches the end of her life, Woodlands Lodge staff have shown sensitivity and love to Mum.

Caroline

Caroline Purcell

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Caroline Purcell has recently been appointed Manager at Woodlands Lodge, having joined the home in May 2020 as a senior carer and subsequently been promoted to Unit Lead. She progressed to Deputy Manager early in 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from over 15 years of work in the care sector.

She is looking forward to her new role and working with Kingsley Healthcare to help the home develop and improve.

Caroline has an allotment in Birkdale and loves to spend as much of her spare time there, taking great delight in tending to her vegetables and flowers.
