My lovely auntie went into Woodlands Lodge for four weeks and stayed two and a half years because Covid came and she couldn't go back to her home. My auntie was treated like a queen, always given excellent care and she loved the activities. All staff were excellent, from management to the DIY man and
kitchen staff. My aunt had a fall and was taken to hospital but when she was able to go back to the home, they were without a doubt excellent.

It was reassuring to know that Mum was well cared for. The staff went above and beyond to proved caring, stimulating and safe care for Mum during her stay. We are forever in your debt. Everyone was helpful, friendly and supportive to extended family as well as mum. The staff keep Mum well protected
during Covid. Mum tried out many new activities and looked forward to pamper days and inclusive games and being introduced to new activities.Mum was always treated with dignity, respect and her independence encouraged. Nothing was too much trouble. Can't thank the staff enough for the first class and superb care provided.

We had no experience of care homes prior to my brother coming up from Dorset. Woodlands Lodge was wonderful. As it turned out, he needed more care than they could provide but they went above and beyond to look after him in the four weeks he was able to stay whilst we looked for alternative care.
All
the staff, from the top down, were so caring, considerate and patient with him. I never heard anyone complain. My brother can be difficult at times. He was always treated with dignity, patience and kindness. The manager is excellent and so were the staff. Kind, humorous, friendly and vigilant. The care home is spotless.
Excellent cleaners and laundry, top-notch. The reception staff were excellent and informative. I would thoroughly recommend this very caring home.

The staff are brilliant, they go out of their way to try and make the residents stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The rooms are kept clean and tidy and there is always someone on hand to make sure that almost every need is catered for. There is a multiple choice menu so there is always
variety in the food and there are plenty of activities going on to keep residents busy. One of the most important aspects is the support that is given to the family, I am always kept informed about my mothers welfare and updated if there is ever a problem.

It is reassuring to know that Mum is so well cared for. The staff go above and beyond to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment, taking the time to get to know Mum and those who visit her. During her stay, Mum has made some good friends and has been able to try out new experiences and opportunities.

My aunty was a resident from 2018 and since the new manager took on the managers role the home has been run exceptionally along with her team. The care of my aunty who had vascular dementia was amazing and she was loved and looked after by everyone. My aunty recently passed away in the home with love
all around her and most importantly her dignity. I cannot thank the manager and all her staff enough and I will cherish the memories of my aunty's time at Woodlands Lodge.

I visited a friend of mine early afternoon on the 16th of July. I was accompanied by another friend of his.
From my phone call early morning to our delayed visit, we were very impressed with the courteous/pleasant and accommodating approach. The attitude of the staff we met was excellent. The lady
who answered the phone in the morning and possibly the same person the receptionist who we met on our arrival was very impressive. Additionally, various other staff we saw on our visit were presented with many challenging demands. The response I observed was professional but in a manner that showed lovely empathy.
I felt really welcome. Observing other interactions Woodlands Lodge is obviously a very kind, patient, caring community in what I imagine is and has been a very difficult/challenging environment with Covid-19.
Circumstances during Lockdown meant my visit access was limited to the reception area.

I found the home very welcoming on my arrival. The care is excellent. The only negative comment would be the lack of continuity of a regular chef and the mixed meals received as a result.

Caroline

Caroline Purcell

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Caroline Purcell has recently been appointed Manager at Woodlands Lodge, having joined the home in May 2020 as a senior carer and subsequently been promoted to Unit Lead. She progressed to Deputy Manager early in 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from over 15 years of work in the care sector.

She is looking forward to her new role and working with Kingsley Healthcare to help the home develop and improve.

Caroline has an allotment in Birkdale and loves to spend as much of her spare time there, taking great delight in tending to her vegetables and flowers.
