Mum has been here for over three years. The Covid years were challenging and had their problems but the new management team, director and new staff have made a huge difference and now the care is brilliant in a wonderful, purpose-built home. Mum is now doing really well and communicating with staff is a pleasure, as is visiting.

First class friendly staff very clean and entrance looks more like a hotel. Nothing too much trouble and hopefully, my husband will be able to stay as coming home is very unlikely but better care than possible at home.

My grandad spent a whole week in this care home for respite and he loved every single minute of it. He was taken care of and nothing was too much for the staff, we as his family was very impressed with all the care home and also we were impressed by how the care home looked exactly like a hotel.

I recently had the last-minute opportunity to have a seven-night respite break at Bridge House Care Home. It is situated very near to my own home so it is very convenient for my family to visit. The home is relatively new, very tastefully decorated, with quality furniture and a very light and modern feel.
I am disabled, use a power wheelchair and cannot transfer without being hoisted. The only improvements that I think would improve my respite experience would be for the home to install a ceiling track for transfers, instead of using a mobile hoist.

and perhaps employ more staff. I have been several times over the last few years for respite breaks here and would like to say that the staff are all delightful, work hard and make staying there an enjoyable experience.

Visited a few care homes and Bridge House has to be one of the best around. The staff are so welcoming and helpful every time I have visited and there is always a very pleasant atmosphere around the building.

The place is always very clean and well maintained and I have always found the care offered really comforting and reassuring. Keep up with the fantastic work.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Bridge House for over 3 years now, she is happy there and has been well looked after. Staff are caring and her daily needs are met. I would also like to add the home and rooms are spacious, all rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. There are a lot of facilities at this home and a lot of activities for the residents to be involved in.

My mother has been a resident of Bridge House for several years and I cannot stress enough how good this care home is. The staff are totally professional, hard-working, friendly and diligent and have formed a bond with my mother that ensures she is incredibly happy in their care. Nothing is too much trouble where residents are concerned: they are well looked after, entertained and receive a lot of attention, conversation and mental stimulation from staff. The home is very clean and tidy, has excellent food and is incredibly well-managed. 5-star rating on all fronts!

After several meetings and many visits recently, Mum and I can honestly say we have seen a massive improvement at Bridge House.
It is clear to see a great deal of hard work has gone in to making changes.
The staff are and always have been kind, friendly and caring.

We are very happy to see the changes implemented are having a positive impact on the service provided.

Bridge House as a care home, is a modern and welcoming facility. From the management team to the nurses and support team, there is an ethos of inclusion openness and transparency. As relatives, we feel part of the team. We are listened to and supported. My Mom is happy and well cared for and that’s the most important thing to me as her son. It’s never ideal when a loved one has to leave the safety and familiarity of home. It impacts on us all. Bridge House will never be home, it’s not supposed to be, but it’s the next best thing that allows us peace of mind that Mom is loved and taken care of.

My mum moved into Bridge House Care Home in June 2020 during the covid outbreak. When she went into the home in June 2020, after having had a stroke, I really didn't think she would survive until the Christmas. She was 96. With the wonderful care she has had at this home, I have had three more years with her so far. She is now 99 and will be 100 in December. The carers there have got her through a bout of covid and two heart incidents. The staff, and I mean all staff, the cleaners, hostesses, seniors and health workers have been fantastic throughout. I will always be grateful to them for these extra years.

My mum has been a resident at Bridge House Care Home for almost three years and I cannot praise the staff enough for their incredible care and support during this time.
They go above and beyond their duties and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do particularly at this time when Mum is nearing end of life.
Floor 3 carers are all amazing and deserve to be recognised for their hard work, dedication and commitment.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My sister uses this care home and the care of her is fantastic. All her needs are met, she is always clean and very well looked after, she enjoys the food and her room is always clean and tidy, the staff are amazing with her. There's always something going on and all her personal needs are met in a dignified manner. I look forward to going to spend time with her. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and managers are always on hand if any concerns are raised and they are always acted on with speed and care.

My wife has been a service user for a fair few years. This is the second review I have given. Think the service is an excellent all-round nursing home. The staff are friendly, the building is clean and well maintained. If you need to know anything, all you have to do is ask, from the management down, the staff will help and my wife is very comfortable and relaxed.

With only a relatively short experience of care home expectations, it is clear that Bridge House is more than just a care home. By visiting regularly and getting to know the staff and management, we have seen how hard everyone has worked during the recent difficult review period. The ratings given below are the true lengthy experiences over the past two months or so. With experience relating to the nursing floor, we understand that residential, dementia and daycare facilities are provided over the four floors that make up Bridge House. Well-thought-out design with airy, bright and spacious rooms.

The home is fabulous, very clean. Safety is excellent. Staff were always too busy to assist, but when they did, they were ok. Food was adequate. Came home, catheter not on correctly, urine bag not fastened to leg, left hanging loose, therefore pulling. Since coming home, have just spent five days in hospital with a severe urine infection.

Reply from Sarah Mitchell, Care Manager at Bridge House Care Home

We would like to thank you for this review. We are continually striving to improve our services and experiences that the residents and their families have. Following the feedback regarding catheter care - staff have recently undertaken refresher catheter training on 2nd November 2022.

As indicated below, everything is good. This is apart from the length of time it takes to provide a bedpan. Sometimes between 30 to 45 minutes. This is not satisfactory, in fact very poor. The other issue is the quality of the food. It is never hot when it reaches room 15 (1st floor), in fact, the potatoes are clock-cold. Of late, there seems to be a lack of items, custard, sandwich fillings, quavers etc. Not good value. Not good value for money on the food side.

Review with regards to the level 3 Dementia floor.
On the whole, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and helpful, although there appears to be a heavy dependency on agency staff, which goes against any consistency that the dementia residents require.
Quality of the food varies, i.e sausage roll chips and beans, fish fingers chips and beans this is more suitable for nursery children, not adults.
The regular carers try and interact with residents when they have the time, but we have seen very little use of the faculties such as the cinema room shop, bar, and activity room. My mum complains that she is bored, as nothing much is being done to stimulate the residents in the day room.
We were told that mum could go down and use the day rooms on the other floors, but she as had no encouragement to do this.

At the very beginning, we asked for things like a hearing test for new hearing aids, a suitable chair, and a bed to help with her back pain and move of room, but after 9 weeks nothing.
