The home and staff have delivered wonderful care to my mother-in-law since she moved there ten weeks ago. All the staff have shown patience and professionalism and are happy to explain any queries which I have had. My mother-in-law is in a spacious, modern bedroom, she is kept pain-free and is happy
with her care.

My mom was a resident until she died, March 28th. The care she got while at the home was first-class. Not only was she cared for and looked after for all the time she was there. But her family were looked after on her passing.
A first-class home.

When my mother-in-law became end of life, all staff left no stone unturned to make sure she was comfortable, pain-free and peaceful. They also looked after the relatives by explaining everything to us and made sure all our needs were met. They made sure she kept her dignity right to the end.

Very personalised care. One of the team organised a very specific hairdresser to come and do my mum's hair, she used to do it before Covid. Mum was delighted with her hair looking like it used to. Such consideration and kindness from a member of staff!

Mum was reluctant to stay for respite in Bridge House and so did not really make the most of everything on offer. She didn't eat well or join in the activities, but I observed that many of the other residents were very happy and enjoyed an excellent relationship with the staff, who were without exception
kind, caring and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to use Bridge House again if necessary and they got Mum back on track with her meds, so that she is now able to live in her own flat (with care) at present.

Mum was admitted for 2 weeks respite whilst waiting for medication to begin working. We were greeted warmly and were helped throughout by the care manager. All staff, without exception, were pleasant, friendly, caring and responsive. Mum required a lot of patience and kindness, which she received at
all times. Mum was fairly independent re toileting and moving in her room. Staff were always available, when requested, to help her with personal care. All medication was given on time. We were advised with sensitivity regarding dealing with the relevant agencies for when Mum returned home. The meals were not great but, again, staff were great.
Reply from Patricia Lavery, Registered Manager at Bridge House Care HomeThank you for your kind words. It's aways nice to hear families and residents were happy with the care provided. I will pass on your kind words to the staffing team. I will pass on your review of the food and drinks, we do sit with residents and gather their likes and dislikes, but going forward we will make sure that all residents know of our comments book on each placing, this information is given to the well-being manager so we can improve our service.

Bridge House care home is absolutely amazing, the manager and all her team provide excellent care for my 90-year old stepfather who was not safe to stay at home on his own following Mum sadly passing 25/12/2022 also following a few falls, the last one unfortunately leaving him with a cracked bone to
his neck.
Dad was moved in for respite September 2023 for two weeks and is still there now, he is safe, content and very, very happy at Bridge House.
If he has any problems at all they are dealt with with care and understanding immediately and I am always informed.
Dad says he is looked after like a king and every member of staff go above and beyond to deliver excellent care to him personally.
I truly wish I had known about Bridge House when Mum needed care as I'm more than sure she would still be here today.
Thank you to all staff at Bridge House for your excellent service and care, you are all truly amazing and we can't thank you enough.
Reply from Patricia Lavery, Registered Manager at Bridge House Care HomeThank you for complete this review. It is always lovely to hear good feed back. From the first moment we stepped into Bridge House, we felt happy that this was where our mum would call her final home. The management and staff were so welcoming and just seemed to understand how Mum was feeling and how to care for her in the right way. They understand Alzheimer's and are so kind,
caring and compassionate towards all the residents and their relatives. It's like one big happy family. We can't thank them enough for how they cared for Mum right to the end.

Our father has been a resident at Bridge House for the last 20 months or so and sadly passed away on New Year's Eve. He was a dementia sufferer and also registered blind and deaf.
My brothers and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who looked after Dad. Everybody has gone above
and beyond anything we ever thought was possible for human kindness and empathy, showing complete professionalism and loving care for our father. Special thanks to the care team on floor 3 and as a family, it is something we will never forget. Thank you for being there for our dad when he needed it. Happy New Year.
Reply from Victoria Lavery, Registered Manager at Bridge House Care HomeThank you for your kind comments about our care team. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. We are delighted to hear how happy you are with our care, Floor 3 staff were fond of your dad and have enjoyed looking after him in the past 20 months. The staff enjoyed, for that short time listening about your dad and his life. I know they all thought it was a pleasure to have known him and his family. We'll make sure to pass on your kind words to our dedicated staff team.

We recently had to move my Dad into emergency respite care, with a view of this being a more permanent arrangement and from the very first phone call, everyone I’ve dealt with has made a difficult process feel bearable. Nothing has been too much trouble and there has been no pressure on us at all during
this period of uncertainty, meaning things just seem to be slotting into place naturally. I can see my dad is safe and extremely well cared for and that means to world to me. From day one, all of the staff have been so warm, and caring and have shown such empathy to not only my dad, but to me too and I’ll be forever grateful for that. Although he’s a bit bewildered by the all changes, I can see a marked difference already in his physical appearance and even though we’ve got a long road ahead of us, I’m so glad it’s happening here.

My grandad suffers with dementia and has lost the ability to properly look after himself. We were extremely nervous about moving him into a care home but we had no need to be. The staff are amazing at what they do and I can not fault them at all. They are very welcoming and extremely caring.
Before
my grandad was moved here he had stopped looking like him. He was pale and looked to have lost a lot of weight due to forgetting to eat and forgetting to take medication. He has been a resident for around 3 weeks now and I can already see a huge difference in him, he has his colour back and looks like my grandad again which is amazing to see.
For the first time since we lost my grandmother, he has company the majority of the day which seems to have improved his mood. They also do different activities which he seems to love.
I am confident that this is the best place for him to be.

All the staff at Bridge House understand what my mother-in-law needs. She is cared for with sensitivity and good humour. She loves to interact with the staff, and there is always lots of laughter, which is great. I appreciate the time and attention taken to organise a whole range of activities and the
support she is given to join in. I feel very welcome at Bridge House. I know I will be listened to and can ask questions when needed. Communication with care staff, leaders and managers is excellent, and the regular meetings for relatives are very helpful.

My mother has been at Bridge House Care Home for five years. It's an astonishing purpose-designed building that really impressed her. Her stay there, as her mental and physical abilities decline, has seen its ups and downs, attested by the measures put in place by the CQC a few years ago. However, in
the last eighteen months the new management has worked tirelessly and imaginatively to put the experience of each individual resident at the centre of their concerns. Likewise, each member of staff appears to be fully on board with this philosophy and the recognition of their contributions by management has seen the staff turnover much reduced - a major factor in forming stable relationships with the residents. There's always some new activity happening with a dedicated activities coordinator. The outcome is that, despite Mum's declining abilities at 95 years, I've never seen her happier. An outstanding care home, very highly recommended.

For my brother, Bridge House Care Home is an amazing environment. People don't often see the hard work that goes into the staff or the many challenges they face on a daily basis but they do an incredible job that is often overlooked. My family and I have had amazing support from the management of Bridge House Care home to support my dad's ever-evolving care needs. They have gone over and above expectations to ensure my dad's care needs are met.
The staff on the third floor are simply amazing. They are so attentive to my dad. They
all work so hard and have a brilliant attitude whilst dealing with challenging situations. After my dad had a short hospital stay, all of the staff came to visit him on the second floor and took time to welcome him back and made him feel so welcome.
I can’t praise the staff working at Bridge House Care Home enough. They always take time (even though they are so busy) to listen to you/discuss my dad and always with the best attitude. What more could you ask for? It was a massive decision to move my dad to a care home but we definitely got the best! Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.827)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.827) out of 10 for Bridge House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Bridge House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (474 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 543 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge House Care Home is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am a very proud Home Manager here at Bridge House and I love this home so much that I came back after a spell working for another provider. The team here are exceptional and the senior leadership are supportive, kind and invested in delivering superb care for our residents.

I'm the second generation of Fisher Care, my father having started the business in 1986. He instilled into me the importance of putting residents best interests at the heart of all of our decisions and I am very proud to carry his legacy forward - sharing his ethos of "excellence in care" with the team here at Bridge House.

We've created a welcoming environment and invite you to come and experience it for yourself.
