The staff have gone above and beyond to help my Mother settle in. At first, she didn't like to leave her room, now she goes to the restaurant for meals. They have also encouraged her to join in various activities, which she has enjoyed

Moving our mum to respite care for the first time, following a traumatic spell in hospital was challenging and emotional for us as a family. It is a big adjustment, however, from the start, we have found nothing but wonderful help and support for mum, as well as ourselves as a family. The quality and cleanliness of the facilities both in the rooms and public areas is excellent. The level of care and the quality of service our mum has had as she continues her recovery has been excellent which has been immensely comforting and reassuring for us all. Well done to the management and everyone in the team, we cannot thank you enough!

I have always found the staff to be more than helpful at the care home. They are more than welcoming and hospitable, the reception staff in particular. There is always plenty going on in "normal times" for the residents to take part in.

The good rather than excellent rating relates to one member of staff who often answers the main reception phone who we find consistently brusque with any enquiries. A real shame as the first point of contact for an otherwise excellent home.

Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Grosvenor Manor Care Home

Thank you for your comments, I am delighted that you feel the home is excellent and I apologise that you have not always had the reception we would expect you to have had when contacting the home.

Staff at Grosvenor Manor really care about the residents. They are always so kind and reassuring in such difficult times. During one upsetting call when my mum couldn’t understand what was happening it was lovely to see the nurse stroke her cheek. It calmed her - and us. It’s this kind of smallest gesture that makes all the difference.

All of the staff have been very supportive and are very kind, caring and cheerful. I am very reassured that Mum is well looked after, and after such a big change for Mum moving into Grosvenor Manor last year, the staff have worked hard to help mum settle. Despite the challenges of the backdrop of the pandemic, they have supported visits where at all possible. It will be lovely when we are through this to be able to see inside the home, Mum’s room and to meet the staff properly.

My dad was placed in Grosvenor Manor in June 2020 after a stay in hospital, and because of Covid, it wasn't considered safe for him to go home. He has thrived there, and it's the only home he has stayed in for respite where he has been happy and content. I contribute this to the wonderful staff and their thoughtful and loving care, and the amazing creativity of the activities team. Top care home!

My mother moved to Grosvenor Manor Care Centre in November 2020, she has Alzheimer's but is still mobile and alert. It was the hardest decision to place her there but the staff have been so supportive and respond to any queries and concerns quickly. It’s been so hard not being able to visit my mum properly, but we can see her on Skype, talk on the phone and recently have been able to see her for short distanced visits. I am reassured that Mum is well cared for, the staff are kind and caring, there are lovely activities and I know she is ok. I am so grateful.

My mother-in-law was taken into Grosvenor Manor Care Centre after a hospital stay in December. She needed the nursing care side of the home and I can honestly say that the care, attention and encouragement the staff have given my mother-in-law has been totally amazing. We, as a family, cannot thank them enough especially through these difficult times.

Due to dementia, my sister was admitted to Laird Mews in April 2020. Due to the pandemic visits were limited, nevertheless, the staff have constantly emailed information re-isolation, endeavouring to keep the residents as safe as possible. They have always been very helpful during phone calls. She is very happy there and was thrilled when her wish to sit on a motor scooter was fulfilled! Thank you.

Grosvenor Manor has done a remarkable job in caring for my mother over the last 12 months of lockdown. She is really well cared for by the staff, and they work hard to give us the ability to contact Mum via Zoom.

I visited my 96-year-old mother for the first time since November at Grosvenor Manor, where she was staying after being in the hospital, with COVID. I found the staff and systems in place for safe visiting to be of the highest quality and would defiantly recommend to anyone looking for a first-class nursing home.

Anne
Anne Job Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

I’ve worked as a nurse for over 40 years in a variety of roles. I thoroughly enjoy working in care homes. As a nurse, you can build relationships with the people you’re caring for and their families in a way that’s just not possible in a hospital setting where people come and go. I love the fact that we’re making a big difference to people’s lives, and we get to see the evidence of that. It’s a privilege to be working for an excellent provider in Grosvenor Manor Care Centre, Lovett Care. I’m passionate about delivering high-quality care to each resident and supporting the staff in their careers within the healthcare sector.

I am ready for new challenges and would like to improve my management skills in order to achieve my full potential. In the future, I see myself taking on more challenges at a higher level of leadership. Evolve my skills in a challenging environment, work within a team, and provide efficient solutions.

I am excited to now be able to join the management team at Grosvenor Manor as Head of Care to support our Home Manager, our excellent wellbeing team and our dedicated teams of care staff and Team Leaders.
