Oakdale Care Home

I spent an hour with my relative. He didn't have a buzzer by him and no one checked on him at all. He doesn't have any Physio for his legs, to enable him to walk which he was doing in Poole Hospital. He has lost so much weight so am not sure whether he has been helped with being fed. I don't agree with Dementia patients being on the same floor as there is no interaction between patients.

My overall experience was very good. My husband was bedbound when admitted to care home so did not experience a lot of acitivties but I did see what was happening. There were times however when e.g. llamas visiting they were taken to see my husband. Have good photos to show how much that meant to him. Friend of his said on a visit, think will book a room here.

All staff members are wonderful, kind and welcoming. My mum is now staying on at Oakdale as the care provided is exemplary and now I have peace of mind knowing how well she is doing and well cared for. Thank you Lesley and all your wonderful staff.

I feel so fortunate to have chosen this home for my dear mother. The care given during her final 2 years was outstanding also the support given to me during that difficult time.....outstanding.

Although my Mum has only been a resident at Oakdale for a few weeks, we are astounded by the improvements in her wellbeing. She is so happy here and this gives us such peace of mind. Everything about this home is first class and we have found ALL staff so very caring to both Mum and ourselves as a family. This really makes all the difference. What I have seen is that residents are treated as individuals and also treated with dignity and respect. Oakdale is like a 5* hotel. THANKYOU for making Mum shine again!!!

My Mum was here for four months. The room was excellent, large, bright, good furniture and a great tv. The food was excellent, Mum loved meeting the chef. Activities looked really fun, Mum couldn't attend the main ones but she loved meeting an owl. The nurses and the staff on the nursing floor made a big difference to Mum. A good chat, a laugh or an extra kindness all made a difference. And we as family got to know them too and they and the office team helped us during our vists. I will always thank the gentleman who was Father Christmas. So many staff who had a smile and helping hand. I wish it was easier to get staff as Mum would say how hard they worked especially when some were off ill, so things had to take longer. Mum chose to go here as she already knew the home and how friendly it was. They were very supportive. Thank you all.

I would strongly recommend Oakdale Care Home to anyone needing somewhere for a loved one and are concerned about making the right choice.

My Father Neville spent his last couple of months at Oakdale ,the care and attention he recieved was excellent,from Lesley the manager right down to the cleaning staff,nothing was to much trouble ,my parents owned several nursing homes in devon and for both of them to say the Oakdale was the best one they have been in is quite something, I would recomend this Nursing Home to any one who needs there elderly loved ones to be nursed in any way.

As Dad started to decline, it was always such a comfort to us to know, and to see, how much he was truly loved and cared for by everyone

I was so delighted that mum was able to come to the Oakdale Care Home for her final days. It was an honour & privilege to be with mum during her last weeks with us. A very special time indeed. The staff, the manager, reception, nurses, carers & even the cleaner only added to the beauty of the experience. They were highly respectful, full of compassion, and took a holistic approach to the care provided.

My wife was only in the home for a short time and I found the day staff were helpful and caring. The nurses and management were very sympathetic, professional and understanding.

Manager friendly & welcoming & supportive. Reception staff friendly & welcoming. Nurses professional, caring. Care assistants very caring of patients & family visiting. Overall experience - There's some fantastic people who work there they see the whole person and do their jobs with sensitivity and care. Even the cleaners, just the little things that makes it a bit easier to visit, like the cleaner who saw me coming would open the doors for me and smile. Thank you so very much to you all for looking after my mother in her last days.

The palliative care received by our relative was absolutely superb. We were reassured by the size and brightness of his room and the sheer dedication of the staff. The team that cared for him during his short stay here as bright, professional and cheerful as his surroundings. Many thanks.

I am very pleased with the care and support, the care home provides, especially as staff numbers have been cut, which makes it hard work for them to look after the residents. All the staff are very helpful and very kind to my brother-in-law. I am very impressed with the meals they provide and how lovely and clean the home is kept. The entertainment that is on every day is first class. Also the management run the home amazingly well. Well done to all of you.

My brother came into the home end of June this year after 5 months in hospital with a stroke. He has severe learning difficulties and the staff have been wonderful to him. He loves his new home and loves to go to the activities every day. We all as his family go to see him three times a week, he's always happy and is making lots of friends and his life is full. He's also making the residents smile!

She is very happy and learning to stand again. We have asked for NHS help but no one has been forth coming.

It has a touching experience, especially as she had been bed-ridden for 18 months so their memories meant they had known her when she was more lively. Thank you.

I find the staff very helpful and caring.

The staff are always friendly and he cared for very well.

I had a great afternoon with mum on the second floor they had a woman singer in mum was singing and dancing which we have not seen in a long time. A member of staff was excellent with the residents she is a star.
