The home is clean and has a cosy/friendly feel. Staff are all very helpful and approachable when you need to discuss things with them. If anything changes, regarding Mum's care, they always phone to inform myself and my sister. There are several quiet spaces to meet with Mum, including garden, balcony
and quiet lounge areas. Highly recommend.

Visited Oakdale for their family fun day. The home was lovely and welcoming. The staff were brilliant and ensured everyone was having a great time. The staff interacted well with all the guests and were great with the children doing hair braiding and face painting. Very impressed with Oakdale care
home and their staff.

Oakdale is an extremely nice care home, it is modern, cosy, spacious and clean. There are three floors, all of which have their own lounges, cosy nooks and restaurants. It has good garden/outside space. The management and staff are brilliant. They are all so supportive, not only to residents but to
their families as well, which is as important and really appreciated. The activities team work hard and provides a good and varied programme. Very reassuring that Mum is being cared for by such a nice, professional team and that he is safe. We highly recommend Oakdale!

Throughout my friend's stay with you of 11 months, she was treated with dignity and respect. All staff have been good; however, the member of staff on duty throughout the last week of care was exceptional. He went above and beyond; his kindness will be remembered always.

My mum is very happy at this home, and the staff are incredible and go above and beyond each day. My mum has mental health problems, and they deal with Mum in a very dignified way and understand mental health excellently. The care home has very clean and nicely decorated rooms, and the chef cooks food
specifically for Mum.

A beautiful, modern, well-equipped home. Bright, spacious bedroom. Good sized lounges on each floor and smaller, more private lounge areas too. Most of the carers/nurses, etc are lovely, willing and cheerful. Good activities program. I think the home would benefit from recurring volunteers who can sit
with residents who may be lonely. Very happy with 24-hour visiting.

This home should be avoided at all costs. The heartache my family have experienced is immeasurable and is a result of atrocious management and neglect. I don’t think they know what personal care is and they can’t appropriately deal with dementia patients, the staff are not properly trained and are lazy.
We are also one of 12 families whose loved ones have had jewellery go missing. Both of my grandparents resided at Oakdale, my grandma died there in August 2022, and thankfully, we were able to move my grandfather before his passing last week, to a wonderful home so he could die with dignity. I am overjoyed his final days were not spent here. The ever-changing management at this home should be appalled, they need an extreme shake-up, as my belief is that this home should be shut down immediately.
Reply from Lesley Brock, Home Manager at Oakdale Care HomeI am saddened to read of the upset both you and your family have felt. Following my response to your relative’s review, I am sorry that the care your grandfather received did not meet your expectations. My team and I are focused on delivering the very best care for our residents. We take staff recruitment and training very seriously to ensure we only recruit compassionate and hardworking individuals. We are a new management team and are enthused by feedback, as we continually review and improve our service to both residents and relatives.

After two years we couldn't face seeing the neglect my dad experienced continue, despite numerous calls, emails and meetings with management who acknowledged failings and promised the earth, but nothing changed. The management only work 9-5 Monday to Friday, despite there being 5 managers. We have raised
our grievances with safeguarding, as have others, as we don't want any others to go through the upset we have. Mums jewellery disappeared from her person - which was reported to the police by a new member of staff and another 11 families experienced this upsetting event too. A crime number has now been issued. We have no wedding ring or her mum's wedding ring to pass down through the family and remember her by. Its been a very upsetting time for us all.
Reply from Lesley Brock, Home Manager at Oakdale Care HomeI am very sorry to read of your disappointment. As Oakdale’s new manager, I would like to apologise that the care your father received did not meet your expectations. My team and I are focused on delivering the very best care for our residents. My door is always open, and relatives and residents can make an appointment to speak to me at any time that is convenient for them. We aim to continually review and improve our service to both residents and relatives – as such, your feedback is an important part of this process.

My mother was a resident of Oakdale. The kindness, care, respect and dignity given to my mother during her stay there were superb. I could not have wished for anything better other than to have moved her in earlier. Their knowledge of handling someone with dementia and end-of-life could not have been
faulted. They also extended their care to the family, which was very much appreciated.
I would also like to thank the group for the rapid response team. The team could not have been more efficient or kind. It was wonderful to find someone who understood exactly what I was going through, and the speed and response were more than I expected or even encountered anywhere else.

It was a slightly chaotic start to mum's moving in, however since the manager joined things are very much improved, and we are happy that mum is there. All the staff seem kind and caring and engage the residents. Mum particularly enjoys the animal visits organised.
Reply from Heidi Williams, Peripatetic Home Manager at Oakdale Care HomeThank you for your review, and for taking the time to talk to me last week about your mother's move into Oakdale. I welcomed the chance to explain how we have improved our communication over recent months, and that those learnings have formed part of the new manager's induction and briefing. It's great to read your comments about the Oakdale team, and I'm especially pleased your Mum enjoys the regular animal visits.

Arrived for my usual visit on our ruby wedding to find we were taken to a private lounge which was beautifully decorated with anniversary banners and balloons. They were also crayons, posters to colour and bubbles for our young grandchildren to keep them amused. The staff then came in with an incredible
cake, made by the home chef, which was delicious. Photos were taken and given to us along with a card. A big thank you to those at Oakdale for making this a special celebration.

My father returned from hospital very depressed and felt uncared for and he also felt he had not been treated with kindness and respect. However, since being the care home this has all changed and we have our dad back! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and that extends to family members too.
There is entertainment and he is able to socialise which has made such a difference following his previous isolation in hospital. The food is amazing with a huge choice, the rooms are light and airy and the home is clean and brightly decorated. I highly recommend Oakdale. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.780)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.780) out of 10 for Oakdale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.780 for Oakdale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (371 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 440 Ratings = 4.78
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakdale Care Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
