Fountains is a caring environment. The staff go out of their way to care for the residents. The home organises many social activities and outings in their minibus. The building itself is purpose built and it and the extensive gardens are well maintained. My Father in Law has been there for two years
and counts many of the staff and residents as friends.

Dad has been here for a few years and I would like to say that all the staff always give 100%. Every resident is made to feel special. Fountains is now my dads home and we have gained an extended family in the staff and residents.
Everyone is greeted with a smile and a conversation. Every member of
staff, not just the care staff but those working in housekeeping, catering, maintenance, gardening, the office, reception and management make us feel we are all cared for not just my dad.
The new management team continues to support both the residents and their families whilst implementing new ideas.
The atmosphere as you enter is warm, welcoming and happy. Staff are constantly seen to be interacting with residents and their families.

Special thanks to all the staff in Olton Floor for their excellent care and support for my brother over the past few weeks. Their patience and understanding has been outstanding and the family are incredibly grateful. Their support and kindness has been so very helpful. We cannot thank them enough for
their care. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Always cheerful and happy, we are so thankful that he is at Fountains and being treated with dignity and kindness. A fabulous Care Home, offering fantastic Care, with beautiful home cooked food in safe surroundings and best of all .. the wonderful staff. Thank you all.

My father has settled very quickly at Fountains. He is now eating well after a period prior to arriving of a poor appetite. Staff are caring and look to the needs of the residents.
The home is warm and welcoming, with spacious rooms.
My one issue is lack of activities to involve residents. My father
has little interaction with other residents and I feel that he is lonely at times.

As Maureen's sis-in-law, I found Fountains to be a very good residential home. The staff without exception have been so lovely, and the home is always very welcoming. There has been an ongoing issue with food, which I have to agree has not been good. Food is very important to residents as it is to everyone.
This has gone on for a long time, but now there is a new chef, hopefully this will improve.

The care staff, housekeeping, kitchen, groundsmen, office staff give 100% to the residents. Their compassion and empathy to both residents and family is genuine. They show they care! However, as a company the people at the top need to realise residents and family chose Barchester for its family ethos,
each home different to cater for needs of the residents, suddenly this has changed. Now looking more corporate, looks being more important than residents choices. This was not the original Barchester ethos!
Reply from Alina Radu, General Manager at Barchester Fountains Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write a review about our home and for your kind and encouraging words about our care and hospitality teams, they work hard every day to deliver quality person centred care to our Residents - I will pass on your kind words. A resident started choking at lunch. The staff responded straightaway with the most professional expertise. I am not exaggerating the situation when I say that they saved his life; it was as serious as that. They deserve the highest praise for everything they did to keep him alive before the ambulance
came.

Mom has been a resident at Fountains Care home since November 2024. Mom has settled in and seems content. She has been well looked after. The carers like her and they know us. All staff are ready to answer queries and concerns that we have regarding mom's care. They are aware of mom's needs and they
give her encouragement where necessary.

This was my first experience of a care home and it was excellent. The personnel were all excellent without exception. They were all so helpful, and smiley. The quality of the food was exceptional, constructed with thought and care. Never ordinary gravy but with cider or something added to increase the
flavour
The bedroom had all that I needed TV. Remote, wide screen, and large toulet/shower room. Lovely thick towels.
I was so lucky to hit on this home first time.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.758)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for Barchester Fountains Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.758 for Barchester Fountains Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (267 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 330 Ratings = 4.758
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Fountains Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
