Overall Experience

The home is immaculately clean in all areas at all times. Facilities are excellent with many lounges and quiet corners, the ground floor bistro is always available with drinks and home made treats. The garden is small, but there's a patio for sitting, flower tubs, and in fine weather carer led walks. External services (hairdressing etc.) are brought in and well used. Food is excellent, although sometimes I've heard that a second helping is requested by a resident (it must be good!). I've always found the staff to be very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There's a dedicated activities organiser, who arranges a variety of activities, usually one each morning and afternoon. Mainly run by the carers, but often a school or animal organisation come to the home, and occasionally an outside entertainer. My resident participates in most of these activities. Mortain Place also organises trips to theatres, garden centres, etc.. A lovely place to live.

Visiting a family friend at this wonderful friendly run care home, which goes above and beyond in looking after there residents in there care. The home takes residents out on trips and has entertainment provided during the week. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a place to live for there loved ones in there twilight years.

Mortain Place Eastbourne.

The staff have all been incredibly helpful and a pleasure to deal with. They all seem to go out of their way to ensure guests have everything they meed and are comfortable. The entire place is kept spotlessly clean and the refreshment station is kept supplied, the food served in the restaurant is excellent as well as nutritious. I highly recommend.

My mum has been here in Mortain for 5years.i would not hesitate to recommend this care home ,although the costs are high the standard of care is overall excellent, and all the carers do a excellent job and go up and above ,to treat and care for my mum ,like they would there own family.they keep you informed on issues that come up on her care , and medication etc.If u see any when visiting they are happy to answer any questions on your relatives care. The cleaning team do a excellent job keeping the unit spotlessly clean.there is quiet a lot going on with activities and outings and the staff do a outstanding job.when I see one of the staff around she often updates me on what my mums done. The environment when you enter seems happy and relaxed. My mum is in the upstairs unit ,and again the environment is very relaxed and residents seem relaxed and happy.

Many thanks to all staff at Mortain

I spent a week at Mortain Place after having a hip replacement. It was the best decision I could have made and the perfect way to build up my confidence and skills with crutches before going home. I felt safe, secure and looked after from the start. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their friendliness and thoughtful care. It may sound like a small thing, but having them always use your name makes a difference. Visitors were made very welcome and there are plenty of informal places to sit and chat over coffee - and very good cake.

I will certainly be recommending Mortain Place. Thank you to everyone for getting me on the road to recovery so quickly.

Our relative was at Mortain for just over 1 year. His increasing vascular dimensia was well cared for by the staff and he was overall content. We were happy with the support he received until his recent death with efficiently, and staff were very friendly to us when we visited. Although the costs were considerable we are happy with the quality of the facility and the standard of care.

I had a fall and fractured my pelvis and broke three rubs. As I had previously visited Barchester Mortain Place Care Home and was very impressed, on my release from hospital, I elected to come here. I have food allergies which are catered for beautifully. I am happy to be here and to be cared for by such caring friendly staff. My friends and family are welcome to visit whenever they wish.

As soon as we arrived to be shown round Barchester Mortain Place Care Home, we knew it was the place for Mum.
All the staff go up and above to meet Mum's needs. As for Mum, she has settled quickly and is so happy.

Your brochure does not do it justice, you need to actually visit to understand the welcome you get each time you visit and see the facilities. Each member of staff knows each resident, treating each as an individual, which gives it a lovely personal touch.

We looked at this home a year and a half ago knowing my mum would eventually have to go into full-time care, so decided to look again at this home and we're still impressed. My mum has now settled in and fully adjusted, she calls it a hotel. The care she receives is brilliant and talking to the staff fills you with confidence for your loved one, the food is exceptional here as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.

Mum went into Barchester Mortain Place Care Home for respite care and didn't want to leave at the end of the month. She is now there on a permanent basis. The carers are wonderful with her, look after her really well and encourage her to join in with activities. Now she is in Mortain Place, she moves around more, eats healthier food and watches less TV. She no longer needs to worry about shopping, preparing meals or doing the laundry.
Visitors are welcome and can sit in the bistro area or go to one of the lounges, which are like being in a hotel and much better than having to sit in her room. There is a nice outdoor area for when the weather is accommodating.

It's very reassuring for me to know that she is being looked after, eating well, taking her medication and never on her own.
