Avon Valley opened in May 2019 and a warm welcome awaits for residents from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. The home is situated in Kingswood, just off the A420 and close to the A4174 roundabout. Avon Valley offers a high standard of residential, dementia and respite care.

The reception staff are always welcoming and helpful and all the management team.

Friendly staff, clean and tidy.
Great space, indoors and outdoors.
Lovely lounges and a blend of social/quiet space.
Nana's room is generally clean - occasionally looked like it could do with a hoover.
She is well looked after and in the best health she has been in years. she is very happy here.

Very happy with everything since my father's been in the care home. All the staff are very helpful. The home is clean and tidy - rooms are spacious and clean.

My mum has been living at Avon Valley for two years now, and I think it is a super place with kind staff, excellent facilities and generally a very well-run care facility. It's a reassuring place where families can know that the residents are well taken care of emotionally and physically.

My grandmother was placed with Avon Valley Care Home for a short respite break following a stay in hospital.
The staff have been fantastic and caring towards my grandmother but also very supportive of us, as a family.

This care home was chosen because the atmosphere was terrific. They were a lot of happy faces amongst the residents and also, particularly the staff. All of the staff seemed to willingly want to help.
Noticeably the staff seemed to want to interact with residents and visitors. The openness of the
staff and the facilities was noticeable having seen some other homes, some of which were appalling. This is not the case here. Overall very happy.

Overall experience very good as regards facility and services provided. My wife had trouble coming to terms with an alien environment and could not settle. Not the fault of the care home or staff. Open doors policy on memory floor did lead to items of clothing being lost/mislaid but cannot see how this
can be solved or stopped. This cannot be construed in any circumstances as theft.
All in all, Avon Valley is a very good establishment.

My mother is nearly a resident and has been made to feel very welcome. Mum has been a little confused but the care staff have been patient at all times. Whenever I have visited the reception staff already know who I am and greet me and are able to tell me where Mum is. I have had occasion to request
information on her personal care and drugs given and within a reasonable time, the relevant carer made themselves known and allowed discussion of the problem.

This appears to be an exceptional care home. You get a feeling that the staff do an excellent job. They are caring, kind, and extremely attentive. The service is excellent the decor of the home is lovely. It's like home from home. It appears that all the resident's needs are catered for.

My wife and I came over from the US to visit my mother, who recently came to Avon Valley Care Home for respite. The staff are very friendly, helpful, caring and efficient. The social activities and ambience make the place a very welcoming environment. The coffee machine and cakes in the front lounge
were our favourite family gathering spaces. We had fish and chips one evening with more family and our Mum. Lovely set up and room to enjoy our meal together. Many thanks!

I lost my dear wife after 60 years. I recently underwent a knee operation at the hospital. At the time I was advised to seek respite in a care home to aid recovery. After visiting various homes locally, the reason I selected Avon Valley Care Home was the welcome I received from the first interview until
I left the home eleven days later. All the staff were very helpful and I was treated with respect during my stay. I would recommend Avon Valley Care Home to anyone seeking respite. Thank you!

An excellent and incredibly well-run care home. The staff are most helpful and show great dignity to the elderly, nothing too much trouble. Good meals and activities, all this in a most beautiful modern building. I can't fault it in any way.

I came here on 12/11/19. As I came through the door, it was just like a five-star hotel. I said to my daughter this is for me. I had the choice of three rooms and took the side one on the ground floor with the little patio. The carers are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Like granddaughters.

I was lucky enough to attend the 4th year anniversary of the home held at Avon Valley on the 24th of May. What a day! The staff dressed themselves and the home in a circus/carnival theme. Residents and their families/friends were encouraged to join in and a contribution was requested for family/friends
to have lunch which was delicious. The staff were so attentive to all, especially those who were on their own or who had more challenging needs. Nothing was too much trouble and although they were dressed up and the day had a party atmosphere, every single staff member acted in a totally professional manner, not for one minute forgetting that they were working. It was a truly magical day for me and my mother-in-law and we are both extremely grateful for all the hard work that went into making it a day not to forget.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Alyson, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Avon Valley.


Joining and commissioning Avon Valley Care Home in 2019 was a dream come true. I have successful developed my staff into good ways of practice and built a team that are proud and respectful of what they do. My passion for this home comes not only from my 40 years’ experience within the healthcare sector but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, and I understand the emotional turmoil and difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person.


Prior to becoming a Home Manager, my previous roles within the sector have been Residential Service Officer, Care Assistant, Nurse Auxiliary and Deputy Manager. I have also developed my skills by achieving qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4, and also ILM.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. Seeing my residents smile each day brings the motivation to perform my role at the highest level.


I would best describe myself as someone who is friendly and approachable. If you would ever need assistance with anything, I will always be on hand to help. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, gardening and I can’t wait to be able to travel once restrictions are eased.
