My mother has been a resident at Avon Valley for 12 months now and my family can't thank them enough for the wonderful care the staff have given her. We are always kept up to date with anything that mum has been doing through Facebook and email and always feel the staff have time to talk to us. Over the last year, it has been lovely to get to know the staff and see how caring and understanding they are to mum's needs. From walking in through the front door we are always greeted by happy familiar faces and it's lovely to talk to the staff and also get to know some of the other residents. Unfortunately, my Father has been unwell since February and was unable to stay in his own home. We did not hesitate in moving Dad into Avon valley in October and being able to reunite Mum and Dad meant so much for our family. Dad had different care needs and wanted to be more independent than mum and we are happy that this has been the case. We can't thank them enough and would highly recommend.

The only small comment would be about fairly unimaginative options for gluten-free or some carers giving Dad food that contains gluten, 'it's only one biscuit!'.
Because Dad has always been such a small eater and has not taken part in activities Value for Money was probably less.
Thank you for your review of Avon Valley Care Home in Bristol. We always set out to do the best for your father and all the residents. We continue to provide special diets for the residents that require them, even if they don't appreciate or want the food provided by their choice. He was very well...
Dad has felt safe at Avon Valley and has become part of the 'team' during his stay, and often involving himself with office/admin. Although Dad has not wanted to join in with all activities available, he has liked to see others enjoy themselves. His appetite is small but he has enjoyed his meals. Gluten-free options could be improved.

Mum came to Avon Valley in December 21 after trying to keep her at home as long as possible as we felt best for her. Always an upsetting time for families but once visited Avon Valley, we were reassured and it has far exceeded expectations. Cannot praise you all highly enough. Mum is well cared for, stimulated, and happy. Thank you so much.

My father has been very reluctant to consider a care home until his poor health forced the issue. I have been so pleased and relieved regarding the excellent care my father now receives. The home is so beautifully decorated and has the very best surroundings. The gardens are a pleasure and every detail is taken care of. The very best a care home can offer.

I feel that Avon Valley Care Home has saved my husband's life. All the help and support my husband and I have received has been fantastic. Whenever I have a problem and speak to a member of staff if they don't know the answer they will find out and come back. My health wasn't very good when my husband came to Avon Valley, knowing how well he is doing has improved my health. Congratulations to all.
Thank you so much for such kind words, it is our pleasure to care for your husband, he is a delight to have in the home. I am so pleased that you are able to feel better too. Best wishes, Alyson.

In my opinion, all of the staff have been extremely helpful and friendly. The home is modern and clean, with lovely lounges and a balcony area to sit. The area for morning coffee creates a nice area to mingle, and the gardens are always well kept with lovely garden furniture to relax in.

My visits since the day my dad came here have always been very pleasant. All the staff can't do enough for me, even during the very difficult times of covid. All the staff who care for my dad do so in the most respectful way. I can't speak highly enough. The reception staff are so helpful, informative, and caring. Overall it puts our minds at ease as a family whilst my dad is here.

I enjoy a wonderfully close relationship with my Grandfather who was diagnosed with dementia. I also work in advocacy/social work and when we realised we couldn't keep him safe at home anymore, did a lot of research into care homes in the area. I wanted him to have the best we could find. He went in for respite/trial. Within a week he was telling me he didn't want to go home. 8 months on, he's gone from looking confused, vacant, withdrawn, and lost, to being the bright, sunny and shiny chap we thought we'd lost to dementia. He's a regular feature on their social media page, and will tell anyone that'll listen, that the staff are wonderful, the food is lovely (he's put on a stone!) and he has made friends. His well-being has improved more than we ever dared to hope and he's so so happy. Other family members have seen this improvement in him and placed their relative in there too. It's the staff that make it, they are another breed of wonderful. It's like he's come back to us.
Thank you for taking the time to review Avon Valley Care Home in Bristol and for your amazing 5-star rating. We are delighted to hear that your Grandfather decided to make his stay with us a permanent one and is enjoying the company of his peers and staff alike. It is a true pleasure having your...
I have visited many care home facilities over the years but Avon Valley at Kingswood, Bristol is undoubtedly the best! An excellent modern facility with good rooms, lounges, cafe bars, hairdressing salon, library, patios, and a sun deck lounge. The staff are very friendly and attentive and, with most of them being from the local area, they also relate well with the residents. We couldn't have chosen a better place for my wife's uncle.
Thank you for taking the time to review Avon Valley Care Home and for your amazing 5-star rating. We are delighted to hear how happy you are with our home and the facilities available on site. Our housekeeping team take great pride in making the home clean and welcoming for staff and visitors...
Rooms - it would be nice to be able to personalise them more.
Food - due to covid restrictions I have no experience of meals but mum looks well fed.
Activities - it would be nice to know what activities mum has taken part in each week, even if offered and declined.
Value - I guess it is but increase to around £5,000 per month is big.
Thank you for taking the time to review Avon Valley Care Home. We are delighted to hear how satisfied you are with our home and the exceptional level of care provided by the staff team on a daily basis. It is a pleasure to have your mother living with us in the loving care community that we create....

Meet the Team (1)

Hello, my name is Alyson, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Avon Valley.
Joining and commissioning Avon Valley Care Home in 2019 was a dream come true. I have successful developed my staff into good ways of practice and built a team that are proud and respectful of what they do. My passion for this home comes not only from my 40 years’ experience within the healthcare sector but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, and I understand the emotional turmoil and difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person.
Prior to becoming a Home Manager, my previous roles within the sector have been Residential Service Officer, Care Assistant, Nurse Auxiliary and Deputy Manager. I have also developed my skills by achieving qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4, and also ILM.
Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. Seeing my residents smile each day brings the motivation to perform my role at the highest level.
I would best describe myself as someone who is friendly and approachable. If you would ever need assistance with anything, I will always be on hand to help. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, gardening and I can’t wait to be able to travel once restrictions are eased.
Avery Healthcare, owners of Avon Valley, strives to be the best in care, providing high-quality services whilst offering its best support to its staff member. Our home is truly unique as we offer luxurious facilities such as our beautifully landscaped gardens and cinema room. Not to forget about the stunning views of Lansdown.
I look forward to welcoming you into our loving care community.
