I have only been visiting Oxford Rd for about a year. From the very beginning it has been most enjoyable experience in every way. All the staff are so helpful and friendly in every way.

It is very obvious too that our friend has been so well cared for in every way all through his time at Birkdale.

Birkdale Tower Lodge provided excellent care for my father, when he was forced into respite when my mother had an accident.

My Dad suffers from dementia and has some complex health needs but I was always confident that he was getting the best care available from both the medical staff and carers at Birkdale Tower Lodge.

All of the staff were genuinely caring and dedicated to their role. The care home itself is beautiful and more reminiscent of a five star hotel! I was very impressed.

My friend is a service user in this Home and I have been visiting for 4 months. It has been a positive experience. Staff are friendly and approachable to me as a visitor. They also showed great care and respect to the residents. The Home is clean and comfortable. Garden is well thought out with raised beds & a 'putting' green.

All residents looked very well cared for and the atmosphere was calm and inviting. I would recommend this Home to others.

We hunted around for a suitable care home for my Aunt's (AJ) stay. Birkdale Tower appeared to be miles above other care homes in Southport.
Our first impression was very positive & the standard of care has been consistently high throughout her respite stay. The staff were all very attentive, kind & generally focused on resident's well-being.
Thank you Birkdale Tower Team!

Birkdale Tower Lodge is an exceptional care home. It feels more like a hotel than a care home, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. My sister is very well looked after and most importantly she is happy there.

The staff are kind, caring and treat her with dignity and respect at all times. It gives our family real peace of mind. Thank you to the wonderful team for everything you do.

Can not say about value for money, do not know.
I am 80 years old and done voluntary work that has taken me into a few care/nursing homes over the years. Birkdale Tower is just the best 5 star. When you arrive you feel so welcomed. The staff are wonderful. When I come I feel as if I am having a day out with my friend in a hotel. Well done to every one your all doing a wonderful job.
I wish you all a happy, healthy 2026.

Thank you all.

This was my Granny's second stay at Birkdale Tower Lodge for some respite, and once again the experience was excellent. From start to finish, she really enjoyed her visit.

I felt completely reassured knowing she was being so well looked after by such a lovely and attentive team. It was wonderful to see her getting involved in activities and to see firsthand how genuinely cared for she was.

I would definitely recommend Birkdale Tower Lodge to anyone looking for supportive and compassionate care.

A big thank you to everyone at Birkdale Tower Lodge for taking such great care of my Granny.

Since Dad transferred from respite services to Birkdale Tower Lodge, he has become relaxed, happy and his health has improved. The staff are conscientious and kind and genuinely have the residents' wellbeing at heart. There are a variety of activities to engage and entertain, but no one is pressurised to take part. We've been delighted at how well Dad has settled in and would not consider anywhere else.

Review from C M (Partner of Resident) published on 10 January 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

After being assessed and considered to be eligible for the home after 3 days we were informed that they could not meet his needs and he would have to move. In general the day staff were great but found the night staff to be very uncaring and inpatient. I found my partner in bed with his day clothes on and soaking wet at 8am when i visited him early 12 times out of the four weeks he was there. Within the first week his glasses were lost and found the following day, and his hearing aids were lost never to be found. A large poster was placed in his room to indicate that his family would be doing his washing and no item of clothing was to be removed. Half of my partners clothes still went missing. When I complained his tooth brush was not being used as it was bone dry every morning i was told it had been recorded on his notes that his teeth had been brushed. I would never recommend this care home to anyone who wanted compassion and genuine care for their loved ones find somewhere else.

Reply from Liam Kenwright, Lodge Manager at Birkdale Tower

Sadly, the reviewer did not inform us of her partner's habit of eating objects (tissues, plastic) during meals, a major choking risk. The reviewer claimed the resident wore pads and complied with care despite urinary incontinence, which proved untrue. The resident also had a habit of removing pants...

My sister went into Birkdale Tower Lodge quite recently. It is taking her time to settle. My first impression was how very nice it was, the decor and cleanliness are fantastic. I have stayed twice to have Sunday lunch with my sister and I found it most enjoyable. The staff are so very nice and so helpful.

Nowhere is like home but Birkdale Tower Lodge comes as next best.

My dad has now been a resident at Birkdale Tower Lodge for over fourteen months and whilst he will never feel as happy as he did in his own home, he has now adapted to communal Birkdale Tower Lodge with the support of wonderful staff and fellow residents around him.

The staff and building are exceptional and there is always something to be involved in should he wish to participate. The lodge is cleaned to a high standard and it does not feel like a traditional care home but more like a hotel on occasions.

Liam KenwrightJob Title:Registered Manager

I am so proud to be the manager of Birkdale Tower. I’m extremely passionate about providing our 5-star luxury experience to some of the most vulnerable in our society, because they truly deserve the best and are just in need of help.

My favourite part of my role is getting to know each individual and understanding what approaches work best for their unique needs. I take real pride in creating positive, person-centred experiences that make a genuine difference in people’s daily lives. I love coming to work, not knowing what new challenges await and what new people I can meet.

I've worked in care all my working life since I was 18, but it was sort of a family business; my mother and her mother were care home managers, so it was an extremely natural decision. I worked hard, climbing the ladder and achieved my first managerial role when I was 29, achieving my first goal with CQC at the same age. I think what makes a good manager in our industry is someone who sets the tone for compassion and quality. It’s about supporting staff so they can provide the best quality of care, fostering teamwork, and always leading with empathy and understanding.

Outside of work, I’m a proud dad of 2 and a bit of an adventurer. I love nothing more than to don my walking boots and go to the Lakes or Wales. If I can drag along my daughters Bella and Gracie, then even better!
