Pearce is originally from South Africa and brings 34 years of experience in the care sector, plus stories from working between South Africa and the UK! A 1992 graduate with a Master's, PhD, and Health & Social Care qualification, Pearce is no stranger to hard work… though he does try to sneak home to South Africa every year!
When he’s not leading Brook House with his person-centred approach and putting residents’ needs first, you’ll find him caring for his impressive 300-litre tropical fish tank, where his favourites are angel fish, capturing landscapes through his camera lens, or planning his next adventure (Thailand and Mexico are firm favourites).
A fan of South African food, athletics, tennis, and a good night out with friends, Pearce believes in going the extra mile, both in life and in care. And while his full name is Shelltunyan (try saying that three times fast!), he graciously lets us call him Pearce.
When asked for advice for anyone thinking of joining the care sector, Pearce says:
"You must be passionate about it, and you must love it. Knowledge itself isn’t enough; it’s the mix of knowledge and love that makes a great care worker."
We’re thrilled to have Pearce on board at Brook House. Here’s to many adventures together, both in and out of the care home!
