Overall Experience

My dad spent a month at Oakfield Croft to give my mum respite as his primary carer. My dad was apprehensive but from the moment he arrived he settled right in. The Customer Relations Manager, Home Manager and the staff member in reception made us all very welcome. My dad was shown his room a few days ahead and we talked about his stay. The standard of cleanliness, decor, facilities and attention to detail were wonderful. All the care team were kind, attentive and very welcoming. My dad was always treated with respect and dignity, with care needs tailored to him. My dad's difficulties were in relation to mobility. The carers encouraged him to keep walking using a wheelchair when needed. The food is also second to none. Breakfast, lunch and dinner; always varied. Small touches such as homemade cakes, cookies, fruit, hot drinks were available in the coffee shop to residents and their visitors. Early doors in the cinema room each Friday, was fun and my dad enjoyed his Gin and Tonic. We highly recommend Oakfield Croft.

Oakfield Croft is an amazing place. The staff are extremely caring and understanding. They are always keen to help and improve the service. Staff are sympathetic to residents needs and feelings. It is a relief to know that Mum is being cared for as I would like, I never have to worry about her.

I loved Oakfield Croft from the day I first visited and the Customer relations manager showed me around. I knew my auntie would love her new home and she has thrived since moving here and looks physically better. The environment is nothing like a typical care home that I had in my mind. It is spotlessly clean and smells fresh. When I’ve brought other relatives and friends along to visit, they’ve commented that it’s like a hotel. My auntie had a minor issue with the food in the beginning but this was soon resolved after speaking to the chef. All the staff are lovely and always make time to discuss any aspects of care, even though they’re obviously busy in their roles and work hard. One staff member in particular is passionate about the residents' daily activity timetable. In fact, when I call to speak to my auntie she’s often participating in a gentle exercise class, bingo or even flower arranging. My mind is at ease knowing my auntie is being looked after so well at Oakfield Croft and most importantly, that she is happy.

My friend entered Oakfield Croft in June 2022 following her husband's death. As her attorney under an LPA I have responsibility for her care and I visit her at least twice weekly. From reception staff to carers, cleaners, nurses and management the commitment to care is excellent, is provided with a smile, and an understanding of the problems that residents experience. The facilities are second to none, the food is varied and of high quality and always supported by daily menus that are displayed for all to see. A weekly activities schedule includes cinema, games, seated physical exercises, trips out, and external performers. The cafe is a vibrant area for residents and visitors to share cakes and coffee. Birthdays are celebrated for all. There is meticulous attention to health and welfare and to keeping family and friends fully informed. My 90-year-old friend is happy, loves her en suite room and enjoys the indoor/outdoor garden areas. Oakfield has exceeded my expectations.

Oakfield Croft made a special day for my brother. They arranged a visit from his ex-employer. 3 vintage police vehicles and a current riot van came together with 2 ex-police officers and 2 current PCSOs.
The customer relations manager created a display board with all his achievements. My brother loved his special day, the police force also sent some cupcakes for everyone to enjoy. The extra touches and effort by the Oakfield staff were amazing.
This day aside I find all the staff extremely caring and accommodating. One lady accompanied my brother to the funeral of his son and took really special care of him.

All the staff from housekeeping, catering, admin and carers up to management and enrichment staff are extremely caring and helpful. The relatives meetings are very useful for us to help us understand our loved ones better and voice any concerns we may have.

My mum has been a resident for three and a half years. She had dementia and significantly deteriorated over that time and passed away very recently. I cannot fault the care she was given particularly in her final 48 hours. I would like to personally thank the team working on those last two days, they made Mum very comfortable and she just drifted away.

After searching for several months for a care home I was very disillusioned with what I was seeing until I visited Oakfield Croft. The minute we walked through the door we were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness from the Oakfield Family (staff). This has continued to date, the staff of all levels from management to housekeeping take time to chat with the residents and their families. Also impressed with how quickly the staff get to know your name when they see so many relatives and their friends. Mum has settled better than we had ever hoped for. She is a people person and enjoys giving and receiving hugs, which are plentiful, particularly from the staff within all departments.
Caring for my mum for the last two years hasn't been easy so handing over the reins for me was difficult, but now with the care and attention she is receiving, I'm enjoying quality time with mum on my visits.

Keep up the good work, I have already recommended Oakfield Croft to friends.

This summer following a couple of traumatic incidents and with ongoing cognitive decline, my mum was no longer capable or confident to live alone and needed more help than I am qualified or able to give. After reading online reviews for local care homes, Oakfield Croft Care Home stood out above the rest. Feeling emotional and fearful for my mum's future, I first visited Oakfield myself and felt supported and reassured by what Oakfield had to offer. My mum initially stayed for respite care. The place is welcoming, safe, secure, clean, lovely rooms, good food and the staff are warm and friendly, treating Mum with respect and allowing her dignity to continue with tasks she is capable of doing. My mum has now continued to stay at Oakfield as a permanent resident. She has good days and bad days but I am learning this is the nature of dementia. The lovely staff are always there to listen to myself and Mum, resolve any issues and adjust her care as her needs change through her dementia journey.

My 94 year old stepmother came here in July 2023 and I can honestly say the care and attention she has received is superb.
All the staff from Dan the manager and everyone involved with the home are all helpful and caring. If you mention any detail however small of concern it gets rectified and dealt with immediately.
The daily activities are great, from an armchair keepfit to fun projects on a regular basis that makes Oakfield Croft feel like a 'home from home', creating a great atmosphere.
I have no hesitation in recommending Oakfield Croft as the care given is of the highest standard. The rooms are clean, homely and well looked after and the food options are great too.

I was so worried about her before she came here, but even the medical care has been great and the whole experience has given her a new lease of life.

I went to Oakfield Corft with acute leg pain for respite care, being on certain types of drugs to reduce the pain, I needed to be helped to change clothes etc, which was all done very well by carers. I was then helped to recover over three months when I could look after myself. During this time, I received excellent attention, from basic care and food to regular exercise and drugs. A wonderful service.

Where to begin! Our mum loved living at Oakfield Croft and always referred to it as home! The heart of a care home is its staff, and the manager has a knack for picking the very best; Mum loved all the staff and spoke of them fondly all the time - nothing was too much for them, and they always went above and beyond! They were all so kind to Mum and to us as well; we will never forget how great they were and how happy mum was there. The home itself is beautiful and exceptionally clean, and the facilities are excellent!

Thank you so much to the manaager and his lovely team.

Our mum was a resident of Oakfield for about 18 months, and we were all wary of using any such facility for Mum, but following a short respite care stay, she absolutely loved the home and especially the staff, so we had no hesitation in placing Mum into their full-time care.

For me, the whole process dealing with care UK and in particular the entire team at Oakfield Croft was nothing short of fantastic! From our first tour to the onboarding of my father with our very tight timeline to ensure my father wasn't left alone and vulnerable made me realise that Oakfield Croft was the right choice. They really do make you feel at home, not just the residents but the family who come to visit. Their communication was swift and the customer relationship manager was extremely helpful throughout the process. My father who has been through so much in a short period of time is quite enjoying the company the other residents and staff offer. He sings the chef's praises I haven't had a bad meal! Those were his exact words. He's making great use of the cinema suite being a film buff. His health happiness and well-being are my utmost priority and Oakfield Croft is delivering in spades. The place is fabulous if you are considering it for your loved ones check it out, smiles on all the resident's staff and visitors' faces.

My parents needed respite care while I was on holiday, and following an extensive search for a home that could accommodate a married couple, I contacted Oakfield Croft. We attended an open day together, and the following week we were lucky enough to be able to book them in. My parents settled in really easily, as before they went in, they were introduced to all the staff and shown around the home properly. The respite stay was so successful that they are now residents, and they embrace all that Oakfield Croft has to offer. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are always treated with dignity and respect. There are lots of activities on offer, and my mum particularly likes having her hair done. The food is of extremely high quality, and the dining room set-up always looks like a proper restaurant. The daily menus are shown on a notice board, and there is always a good choice of food. Oakfield Croft is a bright and airy home with lovely rooms and lovely staff. A real home-from-home.

My eldest sister was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at the beginning of 2022 and was no longer able to care for herself at home despite full social service input. After a brief hospital stint due to a fall, she was admitted to a care home for assessment before finally arriving at Oakfield.
As a family, we feel the choice of Oakfield has been a blessing and a great relief from the stress and worry about her future, knowing from the start she was going to be well cared for.
Despite the pandemic, the arrangements for her move with the management team was made as stress free as possible. All the staff are friendly, respectful and on hand for any help and advice and flexible to any visits/interaction with family. The cafe is a fantastic space and the gardens a lovely escape on a nice day.
As a GP I have visited many facilities and feel Oakfield is an example other homes should aspire to.

To know your loved one is in a safe and supportive environment is beyond measure.

My sister has been at Oakfield Croft for a month and a half now and has settled in so well. The staff have gone over and above to make her welcome and are always friendly and helpful. She was welcomed to the care home with a special meal of her choice and her favourite music was played. She is very happy there and the facilities and surroundings are ideal. The staff have also made us feel welcome when we visit and have made time to get to know her well and her likes and dislikes. She has a beautiful room, surrounded by her own familiar belongings. It’s such a lovely care home we felt so relieved to get her in somewhere so well run where we know she’s safe and very happy.

The decision to have to trust others to care for your mum is one of the most difficult ones I have ever had to make. After viewing lots of homes, this one was by a hundred percent the best and the only one I felt would give Mum the opportunity to be part of a family environment and feel loved by both staff and other residents. The huge bond Mum has with the staff is amazing, she is even letting them help her with personal care. This did not happen at the home she was in assessment for or in hospital. Her beautiful room is very similar to her own home. I want to say a huge thank you to the lovely staff who have been so kind. You are all like family now and the home is a huge credit to you all.

Also the housekeeping, laundry and activities Co ordinaters are wonderful too,a special thank you to the chef ,the food is excellent and the cakes in the coffee shop.

My mum moved into Oakfield Croft a couple of months ago having had a fall at home and also being diagnosed with dementia. Making the decision to move a parent into a residential home is probably one of the most heart-wrenching decisions you can make. Having looked at many private and local authority facilities, as soon as I walked into Oakfield Croft I knew it was the perfect place for mum. She absolutely loves it and the care and attention she has received from day one is second to none. Every single member of staff at Oakfield Croft has made our family welcome and we have 100% confidence in their ability to provide mum with the best care available. Thank you to the manager and his team, it really is the staff that makes the difference between a residential home and a home from home!

Roxanne WalshJob Title Home Manager

Before becoming a Manager, I was a deputy manager at Deewater Grange, and before this, I was a unit manager and a carer. I was keen to develop professionally, so I jumped at the chance when I was offered the opportunity to progress.

Working in my role, you need to be approachable, understanding, empathetic and patient. What we do here is important; seeing residents happy and fulfilled is a constant reminder of this. We all work together, and it makes me proud to be part of a team that provides great care.

I chose to join Care UK for the extra attention to detail it provides. As well as building purpose-built homes, they provide all the support needed to ensure residents (and colleagues) have an environment and lifestyle in which they thrive.

My life outside of work revolves around dogs, dogs, and more dogs! My idea of perfect downtime is finding a dog-friendly café. I also enjoy catching up with family and friends over meals.
