My father moved to residential care in 2022 to the new dementia suite. The staff were amazing and the environment is a very positive and friendly atmosphere for those living with dementia. The activities provided are fantastic and the staff are very caring. The cleanliness of the home is immaculate.
The food is very good and the visiting times are flexible. Very happy with the care and that my dad has settled in so well and made so many friends with the care staff and fellow residents.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeWe love having your dad with us at Parkfield Grange, he is such an active person within our community and it's so lovely to hear that you are happy with the care, support and activity that is provided to him. I look forward to being able to share your kind words about our cleanliness and catering to the relevant teams.

My mother now classes Parkfield Grange as her home. This gives her family peace of mind knowing she is well cared for and regarded as a valued individual.
The staff are all very approachable and nothing is ever too much trouble. They are kind, cheerful, and enthusiastic (regarding activities) and make
my mother feel contented and at 99 years young that makes her family very happy.

My father was in Parkfield Grange in March for an unfortunately very short stay as he passed after only a couple of weeks. However, he was looked after excellently while he was there. The home is beautiful, the rooms spacious, light and the bathrooms are superb. Food is excellent as well a real notch
above what you would expect. The staff were great, really caring and attentive and Dad was very happy during his short spell. Crucially he was looked after really well during his last couple of days and passed peacefully and comfortably. Only area that didn’t work great was being able to contact the GP as it is a remote function and so death documentation was slow coming through but this is a very small quibble. Based on our experience we would absolutely recommend Parkfield Grange.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt really was such a pleasure for us to be able to support your father, even if only for a short period. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the home and I will take great pride in sharing this with our teams. Wishing you and the family, all the very best for the future.

Our father has only been a permanent resident for six weeks but is already settling in so well.
All the staff are so welcoming and caring.
Already, Dad is eating better and feels safer from falls.
It's lovely to visit instead of being a carer.
Dad is once again Dad, thanks to this lovely care
home.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt is so lovely to hear how your father moving in with us has given you your father/daughter relationship back. It's been great to see how he's so quickly become part of our home (and the furniture). Thank you so much.

I would describe the care home as a home-from-home with 24/7 facilities and care. My mother came in for two weeks respite after falling at home and fracturing her shoulder. To be honest everything is taken care of. My mother is 94, it has been a reality check for my mother, who lives on her own and
carers come 3 times a day, 30 minutes per visit so she is on her own for 22.5 hours a day whereas Parkfield Grane offers 24/7 care. My mother said she can't fault it, the staff are lovely and she would be happy to come back again.

Parkfield Grange Care Home is a well-run, professional, friendly and caring establishment. It has excellent facilities, a hair salon, a cinema, gardens and a bar. Staff are approachable if relatives have a problem that needs to be discussed. Management keeps relatives informed by email and meetings
which are now face-to-face following the relaxing of Covid restrictions. The staff treat residents with dignity and have a good rapport with them. Activitites are tailored for individuals which can be tricky when offering a variety for residents with dementia. Singers are invited in and staff get in the spirit and 'dress up' for special occasions. It is very clean and 'housekeeping' takes great pride in their work. A minibus is now available and trips are being arranged which is great.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeOh wow, what a glowing review. It is so lovely to hear that you can see just how much love, care, and attention we put into every aspect of the home and just how much we enjoy supporting the people who live here - and of course entertaining them with the whole home's love of fancy dress.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.856)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.856) out of 10 for Parkfield Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 44 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Parkfield Grange is calculated as follows: ( (451 Excellents x 5) + (65 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 521 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkfield Grange is based on 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 44 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

MY EXPERIENCE: I have worked within health and social care for most of my career for the past 17 years. I began within the NHS working as an ambulance call taker and then moved to work as a Nursing Assistant within hospitals. I then made the move to working in rehabilitation as a Therapy Support Worker, working with the elderly population in hospitals specialising in rehabilitation following hip surgery. After doing this for nearly 3 years, I made the move to work in a local nursing home as an activity coordinator, but due to the pandemic, I quickly moved to a Care and Senior Carer position within the home, working with dementia residents. I made the move to Parkfield Grange in 2021 as a Senior Care Assistant.

ABOUT ME: I have a Border Terrier puppy called Ruby who loves to come in to work with me and enjoys cuddles and walks in the garden with all our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy time with my family, long walks and days out with Ruby, and when we are able, love to travel the world, visit new places and meet new people. I also have a weakness for shopping.

What I Do
As Head Chef, I lead our fantastic catering team at Parkfield Grange. Together, we focus on creating nutritious, delicious meals that residents truly enjoy. We regularly hold food forums so residents can share their thoughts and ideas, helping us shape menus that reflect their tastes and preferences while supporting a healthy, balanced diet.

My Experience
I am classically trained from college and began my career working in restaurants and pubs, providing fine dining experiences. I hold NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Professional Cookery and have spent the past two years specialising in care home catering. I am particularly passionate about creating new and exciting dishes using fresh ingredients, and I was proud to receive the Young Rotary Chef Award earlier in my career.

About Me
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two children and making the most of family days out, especially camping trips. I am also a big sports fan and enjoy following rugby, football, particularly West Bromwich Albion, and boxing.
