With my Father having endured an unsatisfactory experience in his previous care home ('step-down programme from hospital), I had reserved my review until now. My Father has now been at Parkfield Grange for two months. It has been a difficult transition for him to admit defeat with his capability to
maintain a good living standard. Parkfield have more than exceeded his needs and have improved his sense of 'self-worth'. Having become quite isolated, he is now encouraged to socialise and preserve his independence in a safe and dignified manner. The staff are patient and accommodating, the food is good quality (so he tells me) and the rooms are tastefully decorated. A few days ago, he asked me to say something nice about this place and how happy he has become. I am so grateful that the staff are chosen carefully and I can honestly say I have made the right decision in choosing Parkfield. Hopefully, Covid restrictions shall be over in the near future and I can join him for drinks and food.
Reply from Karen Handley, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeThank you for your kind review, it has been a privilege to see your Father settle here.

Mum only moved to Parkfield Grange four days ago. She was obviously anxious and finding the situation stressful. The kindness Mum has received, the understanding and patience have been overwhelming. Any problem seems to be addressed immediately. The staff have made the move much easier by their hard
work and dedication. Thank you to you all.

My Aunt had a 2 week respite stay at Parkfield Grange following an operation. She has been well cared for by all staff with excellent general and medical care. She enjoyed the activities arranged by the carers and the attention given to her throughout the day and night. It is clear the staff do actually
care for the residents. The catering is also excellent with a choice of meals and drinks.

My Dad was diagnosed with vascular dementia earlier this year and has lived in Stourbridge all of his life. As a family, we were looking for the best possible care in the local area to support Dad to live with Dementia. Parkfield Grange is a wonderful home, the staff have very quickly built an excellent
relationship with him and they tailor activities every day to Dad's hobbies and interests. The food is wonderful, I can't wait to join Dad for some meals in the private dining room when the covid guidelines allow. The suite Dad lives in is of an excellent standard, very tastefully decorated, allowing Dad lots of space and independence with his own kitchen and lounge area. As a family member of a person living with Dementia, it is a very emotional time and the team at Parkfield supports us too. I would highly recommend Parkfield Grange.

The home is well-appointed with large comfortable rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The home is easily the best we have visited. The only shortcoming is that at times my mother finds the food too spicy, but as the home is newly opened this could be a bedding in problem.

Parkfield Grange is a superb care home that I am so glad we got our father into. The facilities are excellent, staff very friendly and the food looks superb! I know my father is being well looked after, with the quality of care being excellent. After my father's dementia diagnosis knowing he is safe
and looked after is a real weight off the mind. The activities, particularly gardening have resonated with my Dad and he is now much more active than he was when living on his own. The staff are very receptive to any concerns we have as a family and always try their best to meet any requests. Only improvement that could be made is by having a manager or administration staff member working weekends, as the home is less accessible to visitors at weekends, but I am told this is being resolved. I would recommend Parkfield Grange to anyone who has a vulnerable family member and want them to be treated with dignity and access to the best facilities possible for their journey in later life.
Reply from Jenny Billingsley, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to write, so appreciated - we love having your Dad at Parkfield Grange! He is a delight. Thank you also for your feedback regarding weekends and as you are aware, this is now resolved.

Mom moved in about 3 weeks ago. Having completed isolation she is now able to walk about freely and meet with other residents.
She had a lot of reservations about moving into a care home but her fears were unfounded. She has settled in and is very happy. When we visit she always raves about the variety
of food and the amount of professional care she receives.
Mom being in a care home has given us peace of mind as we know she is being well looked after.

My dad has been at Parkfield Grange for just two weeks but he already feels well-loved and cared for and is extremely happy, which is all I wanted and is a great relief to me. From the moment we first had a look around Parkfield Grange, to the assessment, and then to the move itself, all staff involved
have been very friendly, helpful, caring, and considerate. All the bedrooms and the communal areas are beautifully decorated and all furnished to a very high standard. It has the feel of a cruiseliner or a 5-star hotel, so much so that when dad speaks to friends on the telephone he refers to it as 'this hotel' and the food is first class too.

Parkfield Grange opened its doors on the 26th of May and Mom moved in on the same day. The welcome she received was wonderful and she was immediately put at ease by all the staff who welcomed her to her new home. The tasteful decoration throughout, combined with caring and efficient staff proves what
a modern-day care home can achieve. The bedrooms are very spacious and well equipped with en-suite facilities and a large TV. The dining room and the food served is of restaurant quality. Activities are numerous, for example when visiting Mom, I was lucky enough to watch 3 residents enjoying planting summer bedding plants in hanging baskets with staff. It looked so much fun! The residents are treated with respect and dignity and it is wonderful to watch relationships as they have developed over the last few weeks. Everyone is very friendly and you are made to feel as though you are part of a new large family! We have definitely made the right decision to choose Parkfield Grange as Mom's new home.

Parkfield Grange is the perfect care home for my grandad. First-class facilities, lovely staff, and made to feel very welcome. It’s a relief to know grandad is safe and enjoying being here. The daily food menu is amazing and he’s been overwhelmed by the food he has received. His room is beautiful and
he feels very at home already. On my visits to see him, it was very safe and protocols and procedures were put in place for Covid - very easy to follow.
I look forward to visiting him knowing how happy he is. Thank you.

Coming to terms with the fact that a much-loved member of your family is now living with dementia, is hard, but helping them to seek full-time care is so much harder; until you visit Parkfield Grange. We were so impressed: beautiful surroundings, welcoming environment, spotlessly clean and most importantly
a ‘homely, family feel’.
My brother has settled very well into his new life, enjoying activities, new friendships and simply wonderful meals. It is, however, the staff, who are the ‘beating heart’ of Parkfield: incredibly kind, thoughtful, professional and caring. Thank you to each and every member of ‘team Parkfield’, you are a testament to the fact that you can live a fulfilling, happy life whilst living with dementia.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.856)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.856) out of 10 for Parkfield Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 44 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Parkfield Grange is calculated as follows: ( (451 Excellents x 5) + (65 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 521 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkfield Grange is based on 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 44 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

This breadth of experience allows me to offer clear, trusted guidance to families, helping them feel informed and reassured while exploring their options. I am particularly passionate about dementia care and ensuring families understand the choices available to meet their loved one’s needs.

About Me
I’m a proud mother to a lively young daughter, and I love spending time with my family, sharing in everyday moments and creating happy memories. I enjoy keeping active through alternative fitness classes, which keep me energized and focused. In quieter moments, I enjoy reading or engaging in creative colouring, which allows me to reflect and bring calm and attentiveness into all I do.

Job Title: Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator Joined: 2021

WHAT I DO: I am the activity coordinator at Parkfield Grange and moved into this post in June 2023. My role within the home is to put together a programme of activities to keep all the residents engaged and active within our community. This includes meeting with the residents to understand their likes, dislikes and hobbies and planning activities according to these. This also involves putting together large events within the home and booking outside vendors such as singers, musicians and theatre companies.

MY EXPERIENCE: I have worked within health and social care for most of my career for the past 17 years. I began within the NHS working as an ambulance call taker and then moved to work as a Nursing Assistant within hospitals. I then made the move to working in rehabilitation as a Therapy Support Worker, working with the elderly population in hospitals specialising in rehabilitation following hip surgery. After doing this for nearly 3 years, I made the move to work in a local nursing home as an activity coordinator, but due to the pandemic, I quickly moved to a Care and Senior Carer position within the home, working with dementia residents. I made the move to Parkfield Grange in 2021 as a Senior Care Assistant.

ABOUT ME: I have a Border Terrier puppy called Ruby who loves to come in to work with me and enjoys cuddles and walks in the garden with all our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy time with my family, long walks and days out with Ruby, and when we are able, love to travel the world, visit new places and meet new people. I also have a weakness for shopping.
