Choosing care facilities for a loved one is a frightening experience. Parkfields from the start alleviates your fears. All of the care staff share one characteristic in common and that is they are all very kind. Whilst care is professional there is a very relaxed feeling about the care home. My mother
arrived 6 months ago, she took time to settle as I was worried but now I rest easy knowing she is safe, warm but above all happy. In the circumstances Parkfields have achieved everything in my family.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt's so lovely to hear that your mother is settled and that you are reassured by her living with us. Our team work hard to support people for the difficult decisions families face when choosing a care home, so your comment about how you felt during the process, is great to hear.

Most impressed with the home, more like an up market hotel than a residential home, but it was the staff that that I noticed most. They were to a person helpful, friendly and genuinely gave the impression they knew their job and enjoyed working there.
I have visited people in a number of homes over
the years and nothing comes close to this one. My Godfather feels safe, very well cared for and content, he is now a permanent resident, also your meals are something else. Well done.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt is always so lovely to hear people's thoughts and experiences of the home, we cannot thank you enough for your kind words. It's been lovely getting to know your godfather and see how he's come on since moving in with us.

I've found all the staff at Parkfield Grange really kind and caring. My friend, who resides here, always says how kind the staff are. The environment is warm and welcoming. Rooms are a very good size with excellent amenities. I've appreciated the fact that anyone can help themselves to drinks and cakes
etc. each day. Being here when there was a choral group singing was a real treat! Also, the care home's attention to the wishes of my friend when she is nearing her end of life and subsequently has been equally caring and kind.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt has been a pleasure to support your friend while she was with us, and it was also always a pleasure to see and support you during your visits. Thank you for your kind words.

The rooms are clean, and modern and feel like a mini 5-star hotel. The carers are friendly and build up a nice rapport with Mum. The food is good and Mum likes going to the dining room. She has started doing the social events which is good for her happiness.

My dad has been a resident for about 3 months now and wow, what a change in his well-being and confidence. He has come on leaps with everything. Being fed healthy good food is a prime factor in this, alongside the wealth of great care from the staff. This ranges from many of the departments, not just
the carers. Everyone is friendly and considerate and always has a smile on their face. Nothing is too much trouble to make my dad comfortable and his health is closely monitored. Parkfield Grange has far exceeded my expectations. The smile on my dad's face says it all. Thank you.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt's been s lovely for us to be able to see your father come out of his shell and become such a well-loved member of Parkfield Grange. I look forward to sharing your feedback with our team, it's great to hear how every department has welcomed you as a family to the home. We look forward to keeping him smiling, especially over Christmas with a lot more singing and dancing.

My dad initially went into Parkfield for respite care but circumstances have changed and he has decided he loves it so much he's staying! He is enjoying the sociability of it and has made many friends and the food is incredible. I know he is well looked after and cared for and that is a big weight off
my mind. Thank you from all of us.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeWe've been overwhelmed with the love and kind words that your father has for Parkfield Grange. We're so happy to hear that you feel comforted by how he is being supported by us, and of course, our catering team will be chuffed to hear your remarks about the food. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They have made Dad's respite stay very easy.
Dad has enjoyed the quiz days & the lady who plays piano, he even played along with her on occasion.
I have always been greeted with a smile on arrival and the coffee & cakes are very welcome.
If you
are looking for a caring home for your loved ones I would highly recommend Parkfield Grange.

Our friend, who had known my husband since primary school - aged 6, had always been a committed churchgoer and pillar of society and has a seriously debilitating brain condition which prevents him from doing anything at all. He knows he is not himself but perplexed by his situation. The staff at Parkfield
Grange are outstandingly kind, efficient and understanding, such that he is always immaculately dressed, even when he is in bed. They are charming to visitors and the receptionists are always helpful.

Mum moved into Parkfield Grange 7 weeks ago after suffering a number of falls at home resulting in a lengthy hospital stay. Sadly, she was unable to go home safely so the decision was made for Mum to move into residential care. Mum is now comfortable and safe, cared for by staff who are respectful,
diligent, caring and above all appear happy in their job. Nothing is too much trouble and very quickly staff have recognised Mum's likes and dislikes. The home environment is welcoming and friendly, and all staff without exception have a smile on their face. The peace of mind I have knowing Mum is being cared for so well is more than I could have hoped for. Thank you to everyone at Parkfield Grange!
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt really does fill our hearts to hear how comfortable Mum is and also how comforted that you are, with her living with us. I was initially very worried about coming to Parkfield post hip operation, but I need not have been. The staff were caring and considerate, with a good sense of humour which put me at ease. Facilities and overall standard of the home was excellent - perhaps some garden umbrellas on the ground floor
and a few more garden chairs. Thank you to everyone at Parkfield Grange.

No one prepares you for this stage of your life putting a parent into a care home. You are mentally stressed and feeling guilty. Having viewed a few dementia homes in the borough we found them to be unpleasant. Visiting Parkfield Grange is like going on a 5 star vacation. As soon as you walk in the
atmosphere, smell and all staff and surroundings are welcoming. The staff and carers are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is 1st class. Lots of activities to get involved with. There is so much space for you to have a quiet time to gather with free coffee. The staff and carers who look after her. She always has a smile on her face when we visit which makes her family happy and gives us peace of mind knowing that she is being looked after 1st class.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt's so great to hear that we would highlight to you exactly what a good and new care home can look like, especially because so many people have the "typical" care home in mind. It's a pleasure to have your mother as part of our community, she loves to get involved and never fails to flash the most gorgeous smile that can lift everyone's day.

Can I just say all care homes should be like Parkfield Grange, it's a pleasure to come and visit my mum. As soon as you enter the building the staff are there with a smile on their faces and make you feel very welcome, hats off to staff and carers who look after my mum. My mum is very happy at Parkfield
Grange, she's always smiling and she's made lots of friends, it's great that they allow dogs in because my little dog Minnie loves to see her nan. It's great that they have a coffee machine and yummy cake on hand, so my mum thinks she's going to the coffee shop. Parkfield Grange is the best.
Reply from Emily Hocking, Home Admissions Advisor at Parkfield GrangeIt's so nice to hear how comfortable you, your mum and of course Minnie, are with us. Hearing that our cafe area allows Mum to think she's out and about having coffee with her family is exactly what we hope for, so I'm so glad to hear that it works well for her. Being referred to as "the best" is such high praise, which we are so grateful for, thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.856)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.856) out of 10 for Parkfield Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 44 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Parkfield Grange is calculated as follows: ( (451 Excellents x 5) + (65 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 521 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkfield Grange is based on 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 44 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator Joined: 2021

WHAT I DO: I am the activity coordinator at Parkfield Grange and moved into this post in June 2023. My role within the home is to put together a programme of activities to keep all the residents engaged and active within our community. This includes meeting with the residents to understand their likes, dislikes and hobbies and planning activities according to these. This also involves putting together large events within the home and booking outside vendors such as singers, musicians and theatre companies.

MY EXPERIENCE: I have worked within health and social care for most of my career for the past 17 years. I began within the NHS working as an ambulance call taker and then moved to work as a Nursing Assistant within hospitals. I then made the move to working in rehabilitation as a Therapy Support Worker, working with the elderly population in hospitals specialising in rehabilitation following hip surgery. After doing this for nearly 3 years, I made the move to work in a local nursing home as an activity coordinator, but due to the pandemic, I quickly moved to a Care and Senior Carer position within the home, working with dementia residents. I made the move to Parkfield Grange in 2021 as a Senior Care Assistant.

ABOUT ME: I have a Border Terrier puppy called Ruby who loves to come in to work with me and enjoys cuddles and walks in the garden with all our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy time with my family, long walks and days out with Ruby, and when we are able, love to travel the world, visit new places and meet new people. I also have a weakness for shopping.
