The home was very kind and caring. It was a very professional service that really looked after my mother.
Thank you for your kind words, it was our absolute pleasure to know your wonderful mum and we are so grateful you entrusted Upton Bay care home with her care.
The service at Upton Bay was excellent, my mother was in respite for 4 months and well looked after. Very friendly care team and management team, and excellence in food and rooms were very well presented during my mother's stay. It was her birthday and she received a small party cake and a gift from the care management team, you would not get that level of service in many care homes. They are very experienced in dealing with dementia patients and all the time my mother was there she was very happy well done to all at Upton Bay, and a massive thank you to all.
Thank you for your kind words, Stephen. We are so appreciative of your feedback and this will mean a great deal to our team who had the pleasure of caring for and knowing your lovely Mum these last four months. We were delighted to be able to celebrate Mum's special birthday at Upton Bay amongst...
My mum has been at Barchester Upton Bay Care Home for a month and everyone has been so kind caring and supportive of Mum and the family since she arrived. The manager and all of the team are so responsive and nothing is too much trouble. It was Mum's 91st birthday yesterday and the family were invited for a wonderful lunch and Mum was surprised with a delicious cake. Thank you to everyone for making the day so special.
Thank you Julia for your kind words! It has been a pleasure to have Mum call Upton Bay her home over the last month, and we were delighted to make her 91st a special occasion with all the wonderful family. Your thoughtful review will be passed on to our whole team, we appreciate it.
Every member of staff I meet is kind, courteous and extremely caring. I see many interactions between staff and those they care for and, without exception, they are incredibly patient and thoughtful with individuals' dignity always being met.
The residents are always well dressed with the ladies having regular hairdressing and beauty treatments - their nails are beautiful and the staff always ensure that the residents look their best.
I have been there at meal times occasionally and the food looks wonderful - restaurant quality and presentation and so much choice!
Upton Bay really feels like a home. There is so much choice for the residents and wonderful social activities.
I really enjoy my visits to be chaplain to residents, staff and any family members needing me and I will be very sad when my 1-year secondment ends next May.
Thank you for your wonderfully kind words! It is our pleasure to welcome you to our home each week, and we are so grateful for the time you spend with residents, some who may need emotional or spiritual support, and others who just love to chat with you over a cuppa. Having such a great...
Well, I can honestly say yes it does. Everyone at Upton Bay has shown great kindness, they’re always available to answer any questions I have and I pop in any time or day when I’m free to have a cup of tea and see mum.
There’s a great activity program each day so mum is never on her own and always has company and plenty to do.
I’ve also been impressed with how quickly staff have responded to mums changing health needs and kept me up to date with any of my concerns.
A big thank you to the manager and all the team at Upton Bay.
Thank you for your lovely words, we are so grateful for your kind testimony of Upton Bay. It is a pleasure to have Mum stay with us, and to welcome the family to our home any time.
What a joy to find Barchester Upton Bay Care Home. Mum felt at home here from day one. I didn’t think I would ever find a care home for mum with suitable high quality of care. I was wrong, Upton Bay is that home, the best in the area by a very long way. The care is excellent as are all the carers /staff /the manager. Facilities are superb as is the food (absolutely lovely food). Mum is very happy indeed. Thank you very much Upton Bay for all that you do, you are the very best in my opinion.
From the first time visiting Upton Bay, where we instantly felt at home, to four months later, we knew the right choice was made for our mother. The care and support given by all staff are excellent. It's always a pleasure to visit, greeted by friendly staff with a smile and a chat. A very good range of activities put on. The visit to the park over the Queen's Jubilee was lovely. I cannot recommend enough the manager and the team, facilities, cleanliness, support and care at Upton Bay.
Thank you so much for your lovely testimonial of care for your lovely Mum. It is always our pleasure to welcome you to our home, and are so pleased yourself and Mum have become part of the Upton Bay family.
The staff here are very friendly and genuine people. The activities provided for residents are particularly impressive. My brother is a resident of Upton Bay and tells me how much he looks forward to the trips out in the minibus. He also likes the food, which is always varied, and luckily, he has his favourite salmon regularly, which pleases me very much.
We are so pleased your brother is enjoying his new home! Our life enrichment team hospitality team do all they can to ensure each resident has their wishes met. Thank you for your kind words.
As I write, I'm singing songs in the courtyard at Upton Bay with my dad and other residents and families. It's such a joyful evening in a time where such joyfulness is precious. This has been typical of my experience with everyone at Upton Bay. All the staff are lovely, and the place itself is well throughout and a pleasure to be in. Thank you, Upton Bay.
What a sing-song it was! It was such a delight to be able to enjoy a lovely evening in the sun with all our families and residents. Thank you for joining us, and we look forward to more shindigs in the near future!
Mum has been here for over a year, and when she first came, I didn't think that she would settle. It took a little while, but after a couple of months, she started seeing Barchester as her home, which is all we wanted for her.
Thank you for your lovely testimonial of your Mums experience at Upton Bay. It is our pleasure to have her stay with us, and we are so pleased that the last year has been a positive one for all the family.
Thank you very much to the management team and care team for welcoming my dad into Upton Bay. All of the family came with dad to settle him in on his first day and all of the staff was caring, compassionate, and kind to all of us, not just dad. I was so impressed with the home. The many facilities you offer and the decor throughout are immaculate.
We are very grateful that you've shared your experience - we are so pleased that your first day moving your loved one in was a positive experience. Thank you.
The surroundings are modern, clean and welcoming. Not a typical "care home", more like a "care hotel". Lovely cafe area for service users and visitors, plus a choice of seating areas, including a lovely garden. It was a little challenging to visit and leave again in the evening when the reception was closed.
Thank you for your kind review - we are so glad you enjoyed Upton Bay's facilities and made the most of our garden in the lovely weather we had!
Moving our loved ones into permanent care is something we had never expected to do so soon. However, the experience has been made so much easier by the management team at Upton Bay, who I can’t thank enough. The carers are very kind and always make him smile. They ensure he is comfortable at all times, and his appetite has returned at long last, thanks to the good food and attentive staff. I would recommend Upton Bay to anyone in the same situation based on their compassion and expertise in dementia care.
Thank you for such a kind testimonial of Upton Bay. It means so much to our team, whose passion it is to care for your loved one.
I was happy to leave my loved one in their hands.
Thank you for taking the time to so kindly share your experiences with Upton Bay. We will be delighted to welcome your loved one back for another holiday at any time. Kindest regards.
I moved in to give my family the respite they need. The staff have been very kind and understanding during this difficult time. I am always treated with dignity and respect, and the carers are accommodating of my requirements. My facilities are of a very high standard and kept clean and tidy. The lovely ladies always check on me. Nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you for your kind and honest testimonial of Upton Bay - it is hugely appreciated by our team. It's always our pleasure to ensure you are given the best possible care and service.
As Dad reached the end of his life and was placed on end-of-life care we were able to stay with him overnight and during the day. Nothing was too much trouble. The care staff are all absolute diamonds, again nothing was too much trouble even when busy. We were able to leave our Dad in the care of Upton Bay and not have to worry. Upon our Dad passing away, he was treated with absolute dignity and the care staff looked after our family too. Thank you so much for everything. We couldn't recommend Upton Bay enough to anyone who wants excellent care and has to entrust their loved one to a care home
Thank you Viv for your kind words. On behalf of myself and the whole team at Upton Bay, we are truly grateful to have been able to look after your loved one and the family over the past few months. It has been our pleasure to know and care for your lovely Dad, whom we will cherish within the Upton Bay family.
Last evening we had a beautifully prepared meal in the Family Room. The chefs have gone out of their way to nurture us with delicious food and warm hospitality.
I know Mum’s new home will continue to hold her as she settles in. And, the best part for her are the dogs that greet her each day.
We are grateful to the whole team at Upton Bay and look forward to many more fine days to come.
Thank you for your such kind words, we are so privileged to welcome residents and families from far and wide to Upton Bay, and our team truly put their heart and soul into the care they provide. It was our pleasure to have the family with us for a special evening together.
It’s a pleasure to visit my friend in this home. He’s very happy and well looked after. It’s a shame to let go of independence in older age, but Upton Bay is doing a grand job of making sure he’s still busy every day. The staff are very nice. I booked the private dining room so that we could have lunch and a beer together, which was like old times. Clean home and well looked after. I’m still on my own two wobbly legs for now, but if that changes, I know where I’ll be booking myself in. Cheers for looking after him.
Thank you - entering the Golden Years can be tough - but we are so pleased that we are able to support individuals throughout this time, enabling them to live in the best possible wellbeing!
I have nothing but praise after my visit to take my husband out to lunch yesterday. He was happy, beautifully shaved and I was more than happy and our little dog was so pleased to see him. On returning to Upton Bay we were greeted by smiling people doing something for children in need. Lots of laughter greeted us at the door. Well done to you and your team, I am very grateful I found you all.
Thank you for your lovely review of Upton Bay - we pride ourselves on creating the best possible experience for families within our home - and it's wonderful to hear how happy you were to see your husband!
From my first enquiry to dad starting we have been treated with respect and care. All staff and management take time to reassure you and answer any questions. I can't recommend or thank them for dads care enough. We hope to see you again in the future. Highly recommend. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. They mean so much to our team, whose passion is to provide exceptional care for your loved ones. It is a joy to care for our residents and to have such wonderful families come to us.

Meet the Team (40)

Hi everyone, I'm Mevin, General Manager here at Upton Bay.
I hail from the beautiful island of Mauritius and began my career in care under the advice of my greatest influence – My Mum. For this very reason, it has always been a vocation for me.
I have a wealth of experience, having worked for both private and public health care providers, and I have ‘worked my way up’. Before joining Barchester, I was a Home Manager for a specialist dementia and mental health Care Home. I have also spent some years in London working for a large care provider where I progressed from Deputy Manager to a Senior Management role, which involved overseeing the smooth running of 16 homes specialising in nursing, dementia care and mental health. I have gained many qualifications, including NVQ 5 Management and Leadership.
I strive for excellence and will dedicate myself to ensuring those who live here will have the best quality of life possible. I am deeply passionate about bringing the absolute best out of everyone, and I care very much about the team around me. Most of all, I lead with my heart.
I live locally with my beautiful and devoted wife, Rachel, and we have recently celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. I am also an avid Liverpool fan and will rarely miss a match! I love to cook, and I am a trained chef. Also, music and dance are a huge vice to me.

My story into care initially started on somewhat of a whim, in all honesty, I don’t think the twenty-year-old me quite realised the path I would be taking in those coming days, months and years. I fell in love with my role, the feeling of making a difference in someone’s day, big or small or even if this was for the smallest of seconds, in that moment to that person it mattered, and it mattered to me. Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, the happiness and the joy from others is what truly makes working in care so special to me. I progressed and transitioned through the roles of Care Giver, Senior Care Giver and Deputy Manager whilst attaining my qualifications and NVQs. I have predominantly worked in Residential, Dementia and Mental Health care settings, and my key area of interest is Safeguarding.
For any person, family member or loved one choosing a care home can understandably be an extremely difficult time, the worries, possible guilt and most likely the million and one questions racing around their minds, yet having an open door culture, a strong committed and well-trained team is something I feel can really help reduce those worries and anxieties. I am a strong believer that the only thing to change when moving into a care setting is the postcode, whilst being supported to live life to the very fullest, providing continuous opportunities to love, grow and laugh whilst promoting living life to the very fullest.
Barchester’s renowned reputation and ethos prove only too much that this career change was most definitely the start of yet another exciting chapter and very much an opportunity to share my knowledge and expertise with the rest of the team embarking on this upcoming venture.
Upton Bay will no doubt be an extremely special, happy home, providing the very most outstanding support and care, promoting togetherness and independence.
Outside work, I love to spend time visiting lots of different places whilst experiencing different cultures, not forgetting the tasting and trying new foods! I have quite a passion for art, I love to draw and paint. My friends and family are so very special to me, I love spending time with those that I love dearly, whether this be over a glass of wine in the sunshine, a BBQ or just a ‘natter’ on the phone.

Hello, my name is Monika and I am the Administrator at Upton Bay Care Home.
What was only ever meant to have been a two-week holiday in England ended up with me falling in love with the ‘Sunny South Coast’ and fifteen years later it has become the place I call home. I really do love Dorset.Owing to my strong philanthropic streak and caring nature, I made the choice to work in care after 11 years as an Administrator at a University in Poland.
Most recently I worked as an Administrator in a specialist Residential Dementia care home. I enjoy the buzz and atmosphere of care home life and love getting to know the residents, their loved ones and their life history.
Whilst my role is to primarily oversee the day-to-day administrative duties for the home I will most certainly be immersing myself into day-to-day life at Upton Bay. I believe very much in the Barchester ethos of ‘celebrating life’ and this is something I personally live by.
Outside of work I am a volunteer with a number of local charities most notably Julia’s House, which is a children’s charity and I actively support them in my free time, I relish in it and love getting out into the community. I love walks on the beach and am a strong advocate for being environmentally friendly.
I am so proud to say I work for Barchester Healthcare with such a wonderful, unique, diverse and open-minded team that clearly shares the same passion for care as I do - It’s such an exciting time and I cannot wait to meet you all.

Hi, my name is Ola, and I'm a Home Services Advisor at Upton Bay.
I am on hand to meet and chat with you, to answer any questions you might have while deciding and looking for the perfect home.
My role includes supporting potential residents and their loved ones when considering care in our beautiful home.I truly enjoy building connections within our local community.
Outside of work, I run a volleyball team and have a family with two children.

Hi, everyone, my name is Karen, and I am thrilled to be the Activity Co-ordinator at Upton Bay Care Home.
I first worked in the care sector in 2010, starting in domiciliary care and progressing to Care Coordinator. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated Dementia and Residential Activities, working as a Peripatetic Activity Co-ordinator in 16 out of 20 homes within a group. Then, in 2018, I was part of a team that commissioned a new luxury care home, where I was an Activity Team Leader.
I enjoy making wishes come true for residents - In February 2015 I organised my first Wedding in a care home, the lady resident who was living with Dementia was unable to travel to Hertfordshire for her Granddaughters wedding so I brought the wedding to her, so I organised a Wedding Blessing at the home, we had a Vicar, A choir, all of the bridal party, the flowers, a buffet, a wedding cake, champagne, the full works. This really made this lady's day a special day for her. In 2017, I organised a smaller Wedding in the garden, and this was a special wish for a gentleman resident to see his Granddaughter married. Organising these special moments gives me a lot of pleasure, knowing I have made them feel special and to give families that happiness and see them smile.
When I am not organising Activities or Events, I like to spend my own leisure time walking along Sandbanks/Bournemouth beaches, or gardening.
My passion is the Theatre, seeing the latest Musical in London's West End. Since the age of 4, I have been dancing - ballet, tap, jazz, modern and ballroom Semi-professionally and in the Amateur world. I have been singing since I was 12, and I have performed in over 32 musicals and many musical concerts. I am a lifelong member of Poole and Parkstone Musical Theatre Productions. My last performing concert was A Century of Song, and the last Musical I performed in was Anything Goes with BMT. My most treasured performances have to be singing with Barry Manilow at the BIC and performing on BBC South in a talent show.
The most important people in my life are my 3 stepsons, daughters-in-law, and 7 step-grandchildren. My Cats are my world, Louis, my Blue Mitted Ragdoll and Reggie, my Chocolate Point Birman. In 2011, after 30 years of married life, I lost my beloved husband; however, I can’t thank Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals enough for looking after him so well.
I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new homes and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Hello, My name is Elsa, I am the Head Housekeeper at Upton Bay. I strive to ensure our home is looking pristine at all times. I respect that this is our resident's home, and take pride in making it a beautiful living environment for them all.
I lead an excellent team whose high standards and attention to detail keep Upton Bay immaculate at all times.

I have been with Upton Bay since January 2021, when I helped with the opening commission.
Having started here as the Second Chef, I have always had a passion for maintenance and was able to help with the bus-driving trips that we offer to our residents.
Gardening has been a part of my life for a long time, so I also took on the position of Gardener. Over time, my role developed into a Maintenance Assistant, so when the Head role became available, I jumped at the chance.
I love making sure everything is safe for our residents, keeping the home and gardens clean and tidy and generally looking after the home.
Upton Bay is a special place, and I like to think I helped to make it that little bit better.
