Mum became a resident at Charrington Manor in August 2023. Such a big change can be difficult but she was warmly welcomed and a lot of effort from everyone has helped Mum settle in and become part of the Charrington family. She now says she would never leave! Always a lovely warm, friendly atmosphere
and efficient help, medical or otherwise is available.

A well-planned building.
Shower without a curtain is a bit messy! Do understand the reason for not providing a curtain. The overall care is good and the prompt response by the nurses when I had to be admitted to hospital was prompt and on return, I received good care. Many activities organised, not
always to my taste - too many Elvis impersonators! Not much in the way of classical music. Numerous complaints of poor quality food - much is wasted I think - I would like a new supplier.
Reply from Lesley Loizou, Regional Community Relations Lead at Charrington Manor Care HomeMany thanks for your review and your feedback that we have considered and acted upon. We appreciate your input and apologise for any inconvenience caused due to your missing shower curtain. We keep a good supply of spare shower curtains in the home, all bathrooms have now been checked where a curtain was missing, we have put a new one in place.

Regarding the activities, we plan them based on residents' requests and preferences. Our goal is to provide meaningful activities for all our residents, with a variety of entertainers. We actively seek feedback from residents through meetings, one-on-one chats, and other channels. If you have any suggestions or if there's anything we can do better, please feel free to speak to our management team or the wellbeing coach.

As for the food, rest assured that all meals are cooked fresh on our premises daily. We strive to plan a variety of meals each day based on our residents’ preferences and dietary needs, including offering an alternative menu every day. We continuously seek feedback from our residents to improve the quality of the products we use. If you have any specific suggestions about food or anything else you need, please provide direct feedback to our management team or head chef.

Charrington Manor is a wonderful care home. My mother-in law-is very happy. Loves all the staff, who treat her like royalty. She was very down after a major cancer operation and her daughters worried that she wouldn’t be happy! She is fully recovered and the family is delighted with the care and attention
she receives every day. The twinkle in her eyes has returned. There is an activity every day and she loves meal times. Charrington is a top care home with top people. Thank you to everyone.
Reply from Lesley Loizou, Regional Community Relations Lead at Charrington Manor Care HomeYour mother-in-law puts a twinkle in all our eyes, she is such a joy to be around with her lovely smile and positive energy. Lovely staff and a beautiful building and garden. It’s the extra details that make such a difference; white linen table cloths and napkins, delicious food and drinks, comfy lounges, high ceilings and airy rooms. The cinema and hair and nail salon are excellent. Mum loves the variety of the afternoon
live entertainment, especially the opportunities to dance and the opera singer. Staff don’t just help the residents, they constantly engage with them and spend time talking to them. Their kindness and warmth makes for a welcoming and happy home.
Reply from Lesley Loizou, Regional Community Relations Lead at Charrington Manor Care HomeThank you so much for your review. The staff work very hard to ensure our residents are happy living at Charrington Manor, so it is lovely to hear from families that all their hard work is worth it. We will share this with the team so they know how much families appreciate them. Regional Community Relations Lead.

My husband has been at this home for a few months due to dementia. It has not been an easy journey for him or me, but the staff are amazing. Whenever I have had problems with him they are there to support me with such care, as much as they care for him. Dementia is the saddest disease and they look
after him so well. My guilt over the whole situation has been awful, but they always put my mind at rest that he is fine and mostly happy. I can ring them anytime for an update as I do not see him as often as I would like due to our close connection seems to upset his time there. But I will always visit as I love this place and the staff. The best place for your relatives and my son knows if I ever have to go into a home this is the one for me.
Reply from Lesley Loizou, Regional Community Relations Lead at Charrington Manor Care HomeThank you for your comments, we will share them with our staff who, as you say, are 'amazing' and work so very hard to ensure our residents are safe, well cared for, and as happy as they can possibly be.

My bedridden father has been a resident at Charrington Manor for over eighteen months and I am happy to say that I have never regretted the choice of care home. The staff are absolutely first-class. I am always met with a heartfelt reception when visiting from Europe and kept fully up to date on my
father‘s condition. Any problems, medical or otherwise, are dealt with professionally and in a timely manner. Everybody, from the frontline staff to the admin team, are true professionals and I am extremely grateful for all they do to keep Dad comfortable. Highly recommended.

A care home that is more like a five-star hotel. I am so impressed with Charrington Manor Care Home, the surroundings are modern and clean with excellent facilities: hair/nail salon, cinema room, bar and bistro as well as a lovely garden area that are enjoyed by both the residents and visitors. Varied
daily activities are well executed to stimulate and encourage residents to participate and enjoy. The care is absolutely fantastic where nothing is too much effort, all the staff and homemakers are attentive, patient, caring and compassionate, who really care for my mum, providing a safe and comfortable environment for her to live in which she was unable to do in her own home. The food is excellent: balanced and nutritious (the chef even made a lovely birthday cake for my mum on her birthday) I am delighted that she is so settled and happy and has made many new friends. All aspects of Mum's physical and mental well-being are taken care of. How great to have found such an excellent home.

Today I have much enjoyed the Coronation lunch along with many other residents. All the staff have worked extremely hard to make it a great success. I have been a resident for five or six months and the standard of meals has gradually improved during that time. Hence today's excellent food.
The care
and support of the staff clearly showed itself. Looking after everyone's needs. There was a sense of fun throughout.

All seems well. Mum has been kept safe with the constant vigilance of Charrington Manor Care Home homemakers which was the main requirement for our mother. Food is wonderful - plenty of it too!
Lots of entertainment, almost daily, keeps Mum stimulated.

Charrington Manor Care Home is a lovely new care home with very good facilities and atmosphere. The staff are very kind, personable and thoughtful. Unfortunately, it has taken a while for them to fully appreciate my husband's relatively complex conditions and it is only after nearly a month that they
are appreciating how much care he needs. However, although a slowish learning curve, they are nearly winning the battle. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit, with regular updates on my husband's condition.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.938)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.938) out of 10 for Charrington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 59 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Charrington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (664 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 705 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Charrington Manor Care Home is based on 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 59 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
