When my brother and I first visited Watermead Rose in April 2025 on our search for a suitable care home for our elderly mother who has extremely limited mobility, we were both impressed by the vibe, the cleanliness, the quality and layout of the bedrooms and social areas, and, in particular, the friendliness
and helpfulness of all the staff we met.
This continues to be the case over the eight months since our mother became a resident.
The staff are looking after her health and well-being in exemplary caring and patient fashion. We specifically wanted a care home with nursing provision, and the nursing team are proactive and keep us updated on her needs and the steps taken to meet them, including arranging visits from GPs, chiropodists and appointments at the on-site hairdressing salon. The food always looks delicious and there is a busy activities schedule.

Since my mum has moved to Watermead Rose care home she is a different person and this down to the care and attention she get from all the staff. I call them Miracle Workers as she has just had shingles/a seizure and it was dealt this very swiftly by everyone. The location of the care home is excellent
as Watermead Park is very close by and when time.weather permits we visit as often as we can. The whole package of being in Watermead Rose Care Home is excellent.

My dad was at Watermead Rose Care Home for 3 weeks respite following his knee operation. All the staff have been very kind, caring and have tended to all of dad's needs as and when needed. He has enjoyed his stay and the care he received. The care home even helped make arrangements for my dad to be brought
to my daughters wedding with a carer, which meant a lot to me, my daughter and to dad.Thank you!

My mother was admitted due to end-of-life care. Over her 3 months' stay, the visiting family were made to feel welcome at all times/any time of the day. All the staff always acknowledged your presence with a warm smile, giving a welcoming atmosphere. The management were equally pleasant with an open-door
policy for any queries/issues. Regular updates on my mother's condition were forthcoming.
Two improvements: 1) Staff sometimes need reminding of care duties, 2) Premises are lacking air conditioning in rooms, some of which can get very hot in summer.
Reply from Sue Estcourt, Customer Relationship Manager at Watermead Rose Nursing HomeWe value your feedback, thank you so much. We are so pleased that you and your family felt our warm welcomes during all of your visits. We pride ourselves on our sensitive, caring and compassionate approach to our resident's loved ones as well as providing the resident's with the care, nursing, comfort and support they deserve whilst in our nursing care. We have an open-door policy so we can discuss loved one's care and progress and listen to any concerns or suggestions, including the improvements you discussed with us. Thank you. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Brought both my parents in for a 2 week respite following my father's fall, nothing was too much trouble to look after them, and what a difference it made after a good rest and good food. Hope they decide to stay.

I had a three-week short break, during which time I was welcomed and supported by everyone. Unfortunately, some of my underwear went missing when it went for laundry, but it meant I could have some new items, so a blessing in disguise. I would stay at Watermead again.

We are so thankful to all the staff at Watermead Rose. From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt a sense of warmth and genuine care. The team treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect, and it is clear that they go above and beyond every single day.

My mum is so well looked after

here - her needs are met with patience and compassion, and she is always encouraged to join in and feel part of the home's community. The staff not only provide excellent personal care, but they also take the time to really get to know her, which makes such a difference.

The home itself is welcoming, clean, and has a lovely family feel. The meals are thoughtful and nutritious, and the activities are engaging and tailored to different abilities and interests. Most importantly, we have complete peace of mind knowing that mum is safe, happy, and valued.

Thank you to everyone at Watermead Rose for the outstanding care and support you give - it means the world to us.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.891)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.891) out of 10 for Watermead Rose Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 85 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 84 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.891 for Watermead Rose Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (916 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 995 Ratings = 4.891
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Watermead Rose Nursing Home is based on 84 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 84 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Barry

Barry Lockwood

Job Title: Resident Ambassador Joined: 2023

My name is Barry, and I am one of the Resident Ambassadors at Watermead Rose Care and Nursing Home. I used to be the Deputy Warden at St. Mary's Church. I used to enjoy amateur dramatics and was a member of The Falcon Players for many years at Stamford Hall Theatre in Leicester. I really enjoy living here at Watermead Rose and can still enjoy my hobbies of poetry, piano music and supporting Leicester City FC. I feel respected and listened to. The Care staff are always ready and willing to help. The whole home is beautifully decorated. The rooms are very generous and comfortable. The cuisine is excellent. Everyone is welcome here, and it has been lovely to become friends with the other residents and the staff. Christina is great and arranges lots of activities; there is always something going on. I really enjoy the quizzes. Watermead Rose should be at the top of the list for anyone looking. Please come and say hello when you are visiting.
