Well known for embracing diversity, MACC Care hope to establish a community at Watermead Rose which reflects the wider Leicester community and welcomes residents from all walks of life. The team are respectful of all beliefs and lifestyle choices and the home offers a multi-faith room for prayer, meditation and times of quiet contemplation.
The home has two separate kitchens, one specifically dedicated to preparing vegetarian and vegan meals, allowing the kitchen team to meet all dietary requirements and preferences. Wherever possible, the team work with fresh ingredients.
The home has lots of shared spaces too, including the garden cafe, the cinema, hobby rooms and a hair salon.
The home also has its own activities team who embrace the wishes of the residents by arranging meaningful one to one and group activities, which include carpet bowls, dominoes and scrabble clubs, flower arranging, quizzes, book and poetry reading, Bingo and fun keep fit sessions, to name a few. The home often welcomes community groups and entertainers to bring a variety of inclusive shows in to the home to celebrate different cultures and key celebrations throughout the year.

This review covers the initial admission of my father to Watermead Rose care home and the first few weeks of his admission. Overall the process of admission was handled very smoothly with excellent communication and an assessment carried out in the NHS rehab hospital by the senior team which very much put my father's mind at rest. He was welcomed by kind staff and is so far settling in well considering the significant change in his circumstances. He had a minor incident in his wheelchair misjudging a door frame and sustained a few scrapes but the staff were excellent and did not make a fuss and patched him up. My observations are that the staff are kind and care for the residents well but it's probably early to give an informed opinion. The rooms seem to vary considerably in size and it might be helpful to have more space in light of my father's use of an electric wheelchair. Watermead Rose is located next to the park and a supermarket with a coffee shop so offers a bit of independence too.

Dad has settled in well here and seems very happy. He has been made so welcome by all the staff, who have shown genuine warmth and care for him. I feel reassured that he is being well-cared for by a professional and caring team of carers and nurses. He is most complimentary about the food and despite my misgivings (due to his reticence) has joined in and enjoyed the many activities. At our first meeting, Sue was professional but kind, showing a clear understanding of our needs and concerns and quickly put my mind at rest. The home is always clean and welcoming. All staff have been approachable and helpful and I am so happy we chose Watermead Rose for my dad.

First contact was Sue who immediately inspired confidence with her experience, knowledge and kindness. The home is always clean and welcoming whatever time you visit, The care Mum receives is excellent and I feel well looked after too. Carers, seniors and Managers always find time to talk to you....

Big shout out to the activities team who find a way to include everyone in a diverse range of games/crafts/therapies. Also the food is wonderful.

My name is Barry, and I am one of the Resident Ambassadors at Watermead Rose Care and Nursing Home. I used to be the Deputy Warden at St. Mary's Church. I used to enjoy amateur dramatics and was a member of The Falcon Players for many years at Stamford Hall Theatre in Leicester. I really enjoy living here at Watermead Rose and can still enjoy my hobbies of poetry, piano music and supporting Leicester City FC. I feel respected and listened to. The Care staff are always ready and willing to help. The whole home is beautifully decorated. The rooms are very generous and comfortable. The cuisine is excellent. Everyone is welcome here, and it has been lovely to become friends with the other residents and the staff. Christina is great and arranges lots of activities; there is always something going on. I really enjoy the quizzes. Watermead Rose should be at the top of the list for anyone looking. Please come and say hello when you are visiting.
