I am happy here. The staff are excellent and friendly.
I was pleased my sister was in Kingfishers. It was the hardest thing I have done in my life, but I need not have worried. after the first week, I noticed a big change in her, she was so contented and relaxed. I asked my sister "would you like to go on a coach trip" she said "no, they might not bring me back" - that said everything to me.
I went every other day and to the meetings in which helped me understand dementia more and to ask questions. You walk into Kingfishers, there is a welcoming smile, It is so tranquil. All the staff give you a smile and are willing to help you - visit easy. They all helped my sister pass over with dignity. My family and myself thanks Kingfishers and staff.
I have been in Kingfishers since February this year - I have a lovely room with a patio door onto the garden and my own en-suite. The staff are very kind and there is lots going on if I want to join in.
Just returned from a marvellous lunchtime with them. The home organised their dancers and then a BBQ in the garden. The staff were welcoming to all and the food of a good quality and well cooked accompanied by a variety of salads. We all had Pimms whilst we watched the dancing and it really was a lovely lunch for both residents and their family and friends. Well done Kingfishers.
I am very happy here. I have a nice room, big enough to bring my electric piano. Everyone is very kind and look after me well. There are lots to do; I enjoy the food, especially the homemade cakes!
I am very happy here - the home has a marvellous atmosphere and everyone is happy. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to help you. I am a cook myself and really appreciate the selection of food and how it is well prepared. The dining room is lovely and overlooks the marvellous garden.
I thoroughly enjoy living at Kingfishers and would recommend to anyone.
I have been involved in the care of the elderly professionally for the past 30 years and have recently retired - I now volunteer 1 day a week at Kingfishers and am very happy to recommend the home to anyone looking for care. The home is beautifully appointed and maintained; it has superb gardens which are enjoyed by residents and visitors. The staff are well trained, happy in their work and everyone speaks very highly of them. The activities team provide a wide variety of interaction and outings and the food is excellent.
My husband has been in the care home since September 2016. He is settled and as happy as possible, away from home. The staff are very caring, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We had a birthday party and my husband was so spoilt all day. The family and friends come for cake which the chef made. Banners, balloons all around just a perfect day. He is taking part in quite a few activities and mini bus trips arranged. So pleased he is in Kingfisher so close to home.
I have been in Kingfishers for about 18 months and I'm very happy here. The staff are kind and help me when I need it. I have a nice room on the ground floor with a patio door onto the garden. I have lots of choice about what I do.
The home is comfortable. I am very happy here. I can do what I like and the staff are wonderful. The food is good we have lovely gardens and plenty going on. We have lots of trips out.
What a relief to have finally found a home that is all we hoped for in respect to our mother's care, my sister and I knew as soon as we walked into Kingfishers, it was calm, warm and comfortable. We didn't feel at all pressurised by the senior management to sign up, as we had done in the previous homes. After previous experience with 2 other homes, Kingfishers is so much better, the staff are all lovely caring and friendly, all of them from housekeeping, catering, carers, nurses to management. Mum has been very settled there in only a few short months, it's the first time the family feels she will be safe when we leave to go home. Kingfishers have made the whole family feel welcomed and comfortable, nothing is too much trouble for them, which is a stark contrast to the other homes mum was a resident.
My mother has been a resident for at least four years and has been looked after with great care. She is kept busy with the various activities although as time has gone on she has been less able to partake. She is alway cheerful when I arrive approx one visit per week) and well fed. The care by the nurses is excellent and I feel happy with her situation.
All the staff are very helpful and understanding. Lots of support from them. The rooms and surrounding are clean and tidy. Very happy with everything.
I enjoyed my stay - it was like being in a first-class hotel, but with warm and lovely carers and nurses. The care I needed was given very efficiently.
I have been very happy with the care provided for my mother at Kingfishers. She is in a comfortable and pleasant room with ensuite facilities. Her medical needs are very well cared for. A number of UTI infections have been nipped in the bud early, for example. The staff are generally friendly (I can think of one who is a little austere) and the home places a high value on personal dignity. Over the years I have had cause to raise a few concerns. In all cases, this has been immediately followed up and appropriate action taken. I would be very happy to recommend this home. I have particular trust that end of life care at Kingfishers will be appropriate and what I would want.
My mother was admitted to this home in July 2015. She went in on palliative care but with their nursing, she made good recovery and lived for another fourteen months. Everything about this home is first class. The activities they provide are excellent for everybody, including patients who are not so able bodied like my mother who was 94 years old. One small criticism is Mum found the food menu a little too fancy. The atmosphere was always cheerful. My husband and I both said we would put our names forward if we ever needed a home to go in.
So far things have been pretty good, but we would prefer it if there was a dedicated nurse for each floor.
“Thank you for your comments about Kingfishers and your likelihood to recommend the home to others. Please be reassured there is a dedicated, nurse available as required on each floor who reports to the overall Clinical Lead, also a nursing professional. If you have any queries about nursing...
My mother has been a resident since Kingfishers opened in 2009. During her time there I have been a frequent visitor. I have seen nothing but the very best quality of care. The staff are extremely professional as well as being kind and compassionate. they afford the residents dignity and consideration. The team that regularly looks after my mother have become almost like family. There is currently underway a big change in senior management at the home which of course is a cause of concern for me, however, I am confident that Colten Care will ensure that the culture and quality of the home does not change.
“Thank you for your kind comments about the staff at Kingfishers and your likelihood to recommend the home to others. As you indicate, a new Home Manager has started at Kingfishers following the departure of the previous one who had been in post since the home opened in 2009. We fully understand...
My mother has been at Kingfisher for over one and a half years. We chose it after lots of research and visits to other homes, and it stood out for its friendly and caring atmosphere. She has settled well and enjoys chatting and catching up with the staff. She says "I'm very spoiled really!" The new activity co-ordinator has been outstanding engaging her in activities and outings. The nurse has greatly improved her skin problem with help from the other carers. She has dementia and they know her well and encourage her. Residents really enjoy the parties and special events held at Kingfisher. I attended a Thai BBQ and dance event yesterday and their Royal Street Party was a great success too. All this is down to the excellent staff members, who are cheerful and welcoming. A resident I was talking to yesterday has been there six years and he said this is a lovely home.
I have 25 years experience of residential care homes around the Country relating to two of my aunts, my mother, two friends, and both of my parents-in-law. In that time I have never experienced a better, more caring and more professional care home than Colton Care Kingfishers at New Milton. Believe me, I am a frank speaker and not given to flattering; my praise for this home is true and sincere and is based on two years experience of my parents-in-law living here and as a very regular visitor.
