Should I ever need the care and attention that the home provides for my wife I would not hesitate to make the necessary arrangements for myself.
The home is always clean, bright and airy; the food is much better than average. The staff try their hardest to care for the residents, not always an easy
task.
I visit most days and see how the general running of the home is carried out. Also, there is a program of things set up for those residents that are able to take part.
The staff listen and take note of how things can be marginally be improved, as they are already extremely very good. A visit is always possible and recommended for anyone thinking of a residency.

My husband has been here for almost a month. He said the other day "I am pleased you found this place. They are friendly and meet my needs." He likes the food too - he needs a special diet. I am pleased that he has a male carer.

Dependent on carers, I feel happier with care provided for my mother. The food choices need further options and variety. If certain members of staff are available I feel better care is provided. The place needs updating with some new equipment, beds, curtains, cupboards, would be beneficial.

Albany Lodge is one of the modern, nice places for elderly people. More importantly, the quality of care they provide for my Dad is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly when you want to know how my Dad's day went. May they continue to provide quality care always.

All the staff have been friendly and treat my mother well. The trips out for residents are very good and have been much appreciated.

The receptionists are extremely welcoming.

A matter of real concern still continues - our mother's underwear that keeps being damaged, seemingly in the washing machines?

As she is a private resident, the home does not provide replacement underwear. As this happens so often and not all her underwear can be accounted for, is this not time for the senior management of this company to get involved to remedy this bad practice?
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Albany LodgeAt Albany Lodge we take all concerns seriously and the manager has an open door policy for all concerns to be discussed. It is rare that items are damaged but when they are, we do endeavour to investigate causes and reach satisfactory outcomes for all concerned.

Mow 94+ and having no previous direct experiences of care home living, I believe adjustments to the life can be more difficult for some than others.
I have enjoyed establishing a good rapport with staff and other residents in my two and two-thirds years to date.
In my experience, special mention is
worthy concerning care and support by senior registered nurses, particularly the lady usually based at the nurse's office on Windmill Suite, whose attention and expertise on behalf of residents (and families) is exemplary, including two colleagues.
Having been here during several changes of management, it is hoped that benefits will be understood and planning will ensue.

Mum has been at Albany Lodge since March this year and I have been very impressed with her care here. The staff are very professional and friendly and treat mum very well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Albany Lodge. Maybe a few more activities for the residents would be good but otherwise,
thank you Albany Lodge, for all you are doing for mum.

I am a resident here now, having recovered strength etc. I care for myself in the knowledge that the necessary care is available if necessary. Everyone is extremely kind and helpful. The cleanliness here is outstanding. The food, on the whole, is good, helpings are generous and kitchen staff always

I was very ill last September and have been gradually nursed back to my previous good health.
There have been one or two hitches but the carers and manager have been so supportive. I have been a bit cantankerous in my old age and I have nothing but praise for the staff in dealing with me.
The food
is excellent and I hate to miss a meal!
All in all, I would come back if I had a relapse.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.639)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.639) out of 10 for Albany Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.789 for Albany Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.789
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albany Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 100 registered maximum number of service users is 20. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 = 0.3
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
