My mam has been a resident since 2020 as her progressive dementia meant we didn't feel she was safe in her home. I honestly believe she wouldn't still be with us if it wasn't for the care and support she has received in Berkeley House Care Home. On the whole, the staff are mostly very caring and supportive
and communication from the home is good.
Reply from Fran Donno, Customer Service Adviser at Berkeley House Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. It is wonderful to hear that your Mam has received such high quality care and support during her stay at Berkeley House. It is always brilliant to hear words like "Caring" and "Supportive" being used to describe our staff. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.

My mum fractured her hip in 2023 and was struggling to cope at home, her physical and mental health were deteriorating rapidly. After a hospital stay, she was offered a short stay in Berkeley House Care Home. This was the best decision for the whole family as we had all been affected by Mum's condition.
She quickly started to look and feel much better, her physical health improved dramatically. We cannot thank the staff at Berkeley enough, without their care and support Mum would probably not be with us now. Berkeley House is always very clean and well-maintained. The family feel Mum is very well cared for in a safe and loving environment. Thank you all very much.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Berkeley House Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We hope Berkeley House Care Home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible and we are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We hope to continue providing your Mum with the best possible care and please let us know if there is anything we can do to make her stay as comfortable as possible.

My mother-in-law is currently at Berkeley House and absolutely loves it the staff can not do enough for her. She looks a lot better after 8 weeks of being here and having 24/7 care in the Victoria Unit and doesn't want to leave. she feels safe has made new friends and is eating really well the food
is really good with plenty of choice. she has started getting involved with the activities which are also really good and different every day creating plenty of laughter.
The management team are all fantastic with a warm welcome and great communication and always go out there way.
Her room is decorated extremely nicely and always clean and tidy all the team should be proud!

My Mother was reluctant to come into a Care Home but the staff and management made her welcome and now after 3 weeks settled in.
The staff are very helpful and listen to my mum's needs and family. The food is excellent and there is plenty of space in the rooms with en-suite facilities.
You can visit
at your own leisure and security and safety for all residents are fantastic. From seeing the staff looking after her they take care and treat my Mum with dignity. The home and rooms are cleaned regularly, with plenty of activities to keep her occupied.

Mum came into care in June 2021, having been diagnosed with vascular dementia. The level of care for her has been exemplary from day one and as Mum's dementia progressed she has been supported to lead her very best life. Mum passed away peacefully on 12th March. With carers at her side. The support
we received and kindness from the team on Queens we will never forget.

My Mum moved into Berkeley House Care Home a couple of months ago, prior to that I had been looking after her myself but her dementia made this increasingly challenging. The staff are all wonderful and have helped to make Mum's transition into care as comfortable as possible. They are all very friendly,
caring, and dedicated and seem to really enjoy working there. They also make me feel comfortable and welcome when visiting. Mum has settled in very well and despite her confusion, she enjoys living there. She also joins in with many of the fun activities which are organised, and photos and videos are often posted to social media for relatives to see.
The rooms are modern and spacious compared with other care homes that we visited and are cleaned to a high standard.

The transition of care from Dad's own home to a care home has been and still is a very emotional journey. Everyone working in the care home has been so kind and understanding to Dad and our family. The care home appears very well managed and has a good/relaxed atmosphere. Staff are professional, committed,
kind, caring, inclusive and communicate well. This is so reassuring. The food provided is excellent. The environment/rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Facilities are very good and all staff engaging. Thank you.

My mother is a permanent resident in Berkeley Care Home after a short stay for respite. The care home is absolutely spotlessly clean. My mum's room is always kept clean and tidy with a nice view for her. The food is good with a choice of food from the menu. The staff are all friendly and hard working
and nothing is too much trouble. Keep up the good work!

My dad was transferred from the hospital to Berkeley House Care Home and it instantly felt homely and kind. The employees were lovely from day one to him and have continued to be ever since. At first, he was focused on getting home but after being here for 7 weeks he now wants to remain and consider
it his home. This is wonderful news to our family as we love our dad dearly and only want the best for his safety, needs and happiness.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.842)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.842) out of 10 for Berkeley House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.842 for Berkeley House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (272 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 317 Ratings = 4.842
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Berkeley House Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
