My 92 year old mother has "early stage" vascular dementia and requires 24/7 supervisory care. 12 months ago, we had to find a care home to share the responsibility of looking after her in unison with her "live-in" carer. Having visited several homes in the borough, the Romford Nursing Care Centre stood
out as by far the best fit for my mother's needs. She now looks forward to her time there, having made numerous friends. All the staff, from the management team to the carers and nurses have always been very professional, accommodating and they treat my mother with the dignity a lady of her age deserves. There are numerous activities, including painting, flower arranging, sensory pet visits, bingo and hairdressing. Her room is always clean and is very comfortable. We are extremely pleased with the choice we made and would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.

We have found all aspects of the care home to be very good. The adjustment for us as a family was very tough but the care staff, cleaners, office staff and all people involved have helped us to make it as smooth as possible. We can come in at any time and the staff keep in touch with us and are available
for us.

I am so pleased that when the hospital said my mother needed 24 hour palliative care I chose Romford Nursing and Care Centre. Everyone is so kind and caring. A lovely atmosphere, very clean, large rooms. Lots of activities, hairdressing etc.

My mum has been a resident here for one month and she has been shown nothing but kindness. The care she receives is very good and she really enjoyed the recent Halloween party (so did I). I can't wait for the Christmas festivities. The food is very good. I can ring anytime to see how she is. The home
is very clean. I am very happy that my lovely mum is being well taken care of.

My father has only been in the Romford Nursing Care Home for a short while but to see the change in him is fantastic. He had previously spent some time in the hospital. He wasn't happy and began to shut down. He had spent a week earlier in the year in the care home and had settled in very nicely but
became unwell. No fault of the care home. After much negotiations with the home, hospital and social services because of outside problems, he is now back at the home which he had asked to go back to. He is very happy and is pleased to be back. The cleanliness is very good. The staff are wonderful and that's right across the board from caretaker to management. Nothing is too much trouble. He enjoys the food and has begun to put on weight. He has started to mix a little bit with other residents and is asked if he wants to get involved in some of the activities which are on offer. All in all, as long as he is happy we are very happy.

My husband spent 22 months on Manor Unit at The Romford Nursing Care Centre. During that time he had exemplary care and found all the staff to be kind, caring and extremely helpful. When my husband came out of hospital to spend his final weeks the care was first class. My husband went into hospital
without a pressure sore in sight but ten days in hospital saw him return with very bad lesions. Within a week of him being back, with the vigilant care he received we saw a massive improvement, some had actually healed entirely due to the excellent care he received from all the staff. I visited almost daily and was always made to feel welcome, the staff were kindness itself.

Madalina began her journey in healthcare by training as a Registered Nurse in 2012. She entered the healthcare sector in 2015 as a Registered General Nurse, steadily progressing through leadership roles to become a senior manager. With a unique blend of hands-on nursing experience and managerial expertise, she brings a deep understanding of both clinical excellence and the importance of compassionate, person-centred care.
For Madalina, the most rewarding aspect of her role is the opportunity to make a positive change in residents’ well-being. I joined the Romford Care Home family in 2022 as a member of the Lifestyle Team. The part of my role that I am passionate about is supporting the residents and being instrumental in being able to provide meaningful, enjoyable, engaging and stimulating activities to all of residents.


I started working in the care sector at the age of 16 and was a Psychiatric Nurse for 8 years, I hold Stages 1 & 2 in British Sign Language which I enjoy using especially when I was working with young adults and children with learning disabilities. I have spent the last 6 years working within a childcare setting but felt it was time to come full circle and return to my true passion within residential care.


The best part of my daily routine is standing back and seeing the joy on the resident's faces and knowing that I have made a difference.

Job Title: Ancillary Manager Joined: 2010

I started working at Romford Care Home when the home first opened 11 years ago as a Domestic Assistant. After 4 years, the opportunity came up to go for the Ancillary Managers position. I previously studied Health and Social Care at College so this has been a great opportunity to extend my knowledge.


I currently manage a team of 10, which includes 8 Domestic staff and 2 Laundry staff.
The home has 114 rooms, so my day is always full on. I love the workflow of the job and also the teamwork side where we all pull together to make sure the residents are well cared for.


Another element of my role is being able to support other departments, I often try to get involved with our Lifestyle Team and their events.
The most rewarding part of my job is listening to the resident’s stories and getting to know them all and their families.
