So caring in such a difficult time, my mother struggled in the end, her last few weeks were made easier by the way the care home looked after her, and they were very sympatric with us as a family.

My mother was sent to Lancaster Court from the hospital for palliative care, which we were not expecting.
The staff were extremely kind and caring with the family and my mother.
They all helped us through a very tough time as she sadly passed away last Thursday after only three weeks.

We, as a family, were extremely happy with the care my mum received. When she first went into the home until such time as she went to the upper level due to her ill health. They always notified me if Mum had a bump. She has her hair done weekly, and a chiropodist tends her feet on a regular basis and
the carers also took time to paint Mum's fingernails. The nursing staff were excellent. Thank you.
Reply from Joe Patterson, Manager at Lancaster CourtThank you so much for your review; I'm so pleased you and mum had a great experience here at Lancaster Court. We always try our best to make every day happy and bright.

Cannot say thank you enough to the manager and his team for the way that they handled my father's care. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough, if you have a relative in palliative care. They handled the continuous care application and went the extra mile
when we had issues with the transfer from hospital.
The place was very clean. Food was of a standard you would expect and the laundry service had things back in his cupboard within a few hours, which was amazing.

My wife has been a resident for just over a year. During this time the staff have been brilliant ensuring that her dignity is maintained at all times. They all have time for her and go the extra mile to ensure her stay is as comfortable. The family are very happy with her care and are particularly impressed
with the regular emails and relative meetings which ensure that we are all fully involved with her nursing care.
Would I recommend the home to someone looking for a place for a loved one - unreservedly yes.
I'm just amazed that CQC haven't rated Lancaster Court as outstanding.

My father was a resident at Lancaster Court and my mother has been a resident since August 2022.
The staff are absolutely a godsend and gifted in their caring abilities, my mum who is hearing impaired and has late-stage dementia looks so well when I visit and always smiling.
A special mention to two
members of staff in particular, I am forever in their debt for taking such care of my mum.

It was a big decision for us to put Dad in the home but he has settled in well and the staff are all helpful and caring.
Dad’s room is big and light and the whole home has a welcoming feel about it. I would recommend this home to others.

All of the staff are very friendly and caring and do a wonderful job. My dad loves having conversations and a laugh and a joke with them. He is even happier now that there are regular activities and entertainment. And he is looking forward to going out on another excursion as he enjoyed the first one
so much. He really is a changed man with things to look forward to. It has made a massive difference to him.

Visited the home to express my thanks for the care and love they had shown Dad while he was with them. Dad passed away on Monday and they called me, not being able to get to the home that day they offered a video call. Dad looked so peaceful. I know he was happy at Lancaster Court and was always treated
with respect.

My uncle was a resident from December 2019 to August 2023. Throughout that time, which included the challenging Covid pandemic years, he was looked after by a wonderful team of caring staff. My uncle constantly expressed his appreciation for all that was done for him. He also constantly praised the
quality of his meals, particularly the puddings! His room was clean and comfortable.
My uncle was determined to remain independent in his home as long as possible. He chose to move to Lancaster Court when he understood he could no longer manage at home - it was definitely the very best decision.
Lancaster Court is led by an excellent manager who always prioritises the well-being of residents. From the family’s point of view communication with the manager and staff at Lancaster Court was straightforward and direct, another really positive factor in recommending Lancaster Court. It was definitely the very best place for my uncle to spend his final years.

Mum was transferred to Lancaster Court at the end of October and has been in residence for eight weeks. During this time, she has been receiving excellent care. She is eating a balanced diet, sleeps well and has personal care. She is reassured, safe and content. I can now relax in the knowledge that

Mum has been at Lancaster Court Care Home since November 2020. She has been very well cared for and is settled and happy. All the staff are cheerful, friendly and caring and there is one in particular who is absolutely incredible. I know that Mum is safe and happy and all her needs are well met.
Communication
from staff is good when it's needed and I feel confident that if there is anything I need to know I will be told quickly.
During the pandemic, the home had to lockdown which meant that the events and activities had to be curtailed. It's great that some of these are happening again.
Overall, I would recommend Lancaster Court.

Both father and mother in law were in Lancaster Court. Father in law in the dementia unit and care was generally good. It would have been nice if a T.V. was opposite his bed as she struggles to see it. However when able to speak he seemed happy. He was well looked after. Mum was very lonely though we
saw her two to three times a week. She was mentally alert but had no one to talk to. It would have been nice had the carers been able to chat for a few minutes every now and then. One bath a week seemed not very much and found that unusual. The use of an activity leader would have been wonderful for the more able-bodied.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.921)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.921) out of 10 for Lancaster Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.921 for Lancaster Court is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 278 Ratings = 4.921
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lancaster Court is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
