Our dear mum was cared for at Lancaster Court for the last two months of her life. The case provided for her was excellent, she was treated with love and dignity. Five stars for Lancaster Court.

Both father and mother in law were in Lancaster Court. Father in law in the dementia unit and care was generally good. It would have been nice if a T.V. was opposite his bed as she struggles to see it. However when able to speak he seemed happy. He was well looked after. Mum was very lonely though we
saw her two to three times a week. She was mentally alert but had no one to talk to. It would have been nice had the carers been able to chat for a few minutes every now and then. One bath a week seemed not very much and found that unusual. The use of an activity leader would have been wonderful for the more able-bodied.
Reply from Ann Hill, Home Manager at Lancaster CourtThank you for taking the time to review us and for the constructive comments with regards to the service. Please be assured we will endeavour to look at the activities to be more inclusive for all within the home.

My father-in-law has been a resident for 6-months. We have always found him to be comfortable; he is happy in the home. The staff know him and his family. He likes the food and has been encouraged to spend time in the lounge meeting others. The security is good. The cleanliness of his room and the home,
in general, is excellent. The decor is welcoming and really interesting for residents. Would recommend!

Lancaster Court has been a fantastic Care Home for my father-in-law.
The care, treatment, facilities, and compassion shown have been excellent.
A special mention to all the staff who were so helpful, professional but beyond all else friendly. I would recommend Lancaster Court to anyone.

I visited my mother for her 91st Birthday soon after visiting was permitted. It went very well. I was offered an appointment slot and the staff were ready when I arrived. The lateral flow testing and PPE was very well organised. A special room had been set aside for the meeting to which my mum was brought
down to meet me. The manager and staff were very friendly and responsive. Altogether very impressive and safe.

All through the pandemic the team from Lancaster Court has kept us up to date with phone calls, emails, newsletters and introduced a Zoom call for residents families with the manager. This has been especially important for those of us that live a long way from the home. My family and I are impressed
with the resilience, professionalism and first-class care that has been given by the team 24/7. It was with great excitement and support that the senior team helped me plan my first visit in over a year to see my mum, and I was able to see first hand the high standards in place to ensure a covid secure environment.

My mother moved into Lancaster Court in January 2016 and has always been very happy there. She praises the staff telling how well she is looked after and how much she enjoys her meals. Before the pandemic, we used to visit Mum regularly. The staff were always very welcoming and approachable, and the
home always very clean. During the pandemic, I have seen Mum with window visits, so can see she is still happy and I can always contact the home and ask how Mum is. I am always contacted promptly if there are any concerns. We could not wish for a better home for Mum.

From what I've seen Nan is treated kindly by the staff. She was moved to LC right before covid and her mental health has declined very significantly since being there - likely at least in part related to lack of visitors. It's been hard to arrange visits, which given this is what Nan needs and wants,
is sad. When I call I'm usually passed around and often am asked to call again and again. This has resulted in me missing slots to see her, as others have been luckier. I have to take time off work to see Nan and it's frustrating then to be told there are no gaps when I've called many times and not been able to book to see her.

Generally, my overall experience has been positive. My mother is well cared for, has fitted in well with the care home routine and is happy. The home manager is cheerful, positive, supportive and always has time to discuss my mother's wellbeing. There are some excellent staff, but a small minority of
staff who seemed bored at time and regress to doing the bare minimum. One staff member is a "pot stirrer" who adversely influences others.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.931)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.931) out of 10 for Lancaster Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.931 for Lancaster Court is calculated as follows: ( (288 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 303 Ratings = 4.931
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lancaster Court is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
