My nan has been a resident at Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home for eighteen months now and the recent refurbishment of her home by Barchester is gorgeous, the décor is stylish, plush, practical and homely and has transformed Rothsay into a luxury home with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are happy, attentive, friendly and truly know their residents. I feel so welcome and at home there, small things like homemade birthday cakes for everyone and how welcome pets and friends are made when they visit the staff is fab. I really feel like it is an extension of my nan's family now. I am very impressed with the manager of the home, there's an emphasis on care, homeliness and residents living their best lives together with happy staff, which I personally think is incredibly important. You need a happy, supported team to provide the best care and I can honestly say my nan is very happy and she has received excellent medical and dental care without the need for hospitalisation, organised internally.

I used to own a market research company doing fieldwork research specialising in mystery shopping customer satisfaction. I came to see our friend and everything is clean - no smell. Staff excellent. We are very pleased to see our friend being taken so carefully attended to in such lovely surroundings. I would recommend you to anyone requiring your care. It is also good for visitors to feel at ease under such difficult circumstances we find our friend in.

My father stayed at the nursing home for twelve days at the end of his life.
My mum and I found everyone at Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home to be caring, respectful, skilled and responsive to our questions and thoughts.

We were so impressed with the care they gave and dignity with my father. We couldn't have wished for a more peaceful and caring end. Special thanks to the deputy manager, all the nurses and the general manager, such lovely people in a stressful time.

My mum has been a resident at the Rothsay Grange for over a year now. The staff are absolutely amazing and so friendly and look after the residents very well. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. The recent new change of management has made a noticeable difference as well and made it even better.

Thank you so much Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home! Mum was with you for six years and during her stay, she was so well cared for, especially when she moved upstairs to Memory Lane for five years. Some of your lovely staff were with Mum most of her time at Rothsay. So much care and friendship were shown to her over the years and also to us whenever we visited, particularly during Mum's last few months as her health failed. In her last days, it was so comforting to find staff in her room sitting by her bedside when she was able to do and say so little. Thank you for being there for my lovely mum. My apologies for taking so long to write this review - much overdue.

This was respite care for my husband whilst I was in hospital and recovery. My husband being disabled with mobility issues was unable to look after himself during this period. All the staff were very efficient and kind. The room was well equipt and very clean. The food was good but could have been warmer upon serving.

Mum was a resident at Rothsay Grange for almost four years. During all that time she was cared for by all members of staff in an exemplary manner. Part of visiting Mum was the warm reception we were given by everyone. We never had reason to complain and if we asked for anything it would be done somehow and most willingly. When the time comes, I intend to book myself in, knowing that my final days will be dignified, respected, comfortable and totally catered for in all respects. Thank you everyone at Rothsay Grange.

I have such peace of mind now my husband is in Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home. The management, staff and residents are wonderful and we are all one big family. Following viewing six or so care homes for my mum, Barchester Rothsay Grange Care Home was, by far, the nicest, although a bit more per month.
The staff, they only use their bank not agency, gave Mum consistency and enabled relationships to form and gave Mum confidence and security in a new environment.
The home is very clean and from my experience, does not smell like a care home. The entertainment team would always encourage her to attend and put no pressure on her to participate. The open-door policy and approachability of all staff were great. Sadly, Mum passed away but I can honestly say that I could not think of a better home for her.

Thank you.

The staff on the memory floor are very caring, and patient and always acknowledge the residents. Their job is not the easiest, they are so caring to the residents. The new decorating of the home is beautiful, the residents seem to notice and enjoy all the new items. I do find it a little difficult in the dining area to move a wheelchair around due to more furniture. I enjoy the Rothsay social media page, a lovely way to keep in touch. Thank you to all the management, especially the staff, for caring for my family member.

The girls looking after Mum-in-law are wonderful. They have a difficult job to do with lots of people to watch and look after. The management side is not so great. We've been asking for the main light in her room to be fixed every visit for the last 3-4 weeks, still not done. Don't expect to keep any of the clothes that are brought in for her as Mum-in-law rarely has anything on that we brought in for her. Apart from that, the food is very good, she is showered and cleaned regularly and she seems to be relatively happy and that's what you want from a dementia care home.

The accommodation rooms, lounges and corridors are very good. The staff, food and care of residents are all very good. The laundry was not so good but has improved a lot over the past few months. My only concern and it's really about the home is the cost of care. The cost exceeds our income and our savings will soon be gone. Monthly income is £2,500 care costs £7,000+. The government needs to provide more financial help to those residents on end-of-life care.

Our good friend has been at Rothsay for love a year now and since her living there we have always found the care and service she receives above and beyond what she would have had from a local facility. Even though she has dementia she enjoys the activities that are available and has settled in well.

Friends can now come and go when they like and the staff are always available to chat if you have any concerns, either face to face or over the phone.

After nearly 30 years of nursing within the NHS, I stepped into Care Services in 2018 and have never looked back. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Clinical Lead, Clinical Deputy Manager, and Clinical Home Manager. I’m now delighted to be joining Barchester as the General Manager at Rothsay Grange.

As a lifelong history enthusiast, I’ve always been drawn to working with older generations. Listening to their stories — experiences that feel historical to me, yet have shaped their lives and futures — is one of the greatest joys of my work.

Outside of work, I spend my time with my husband, daughter, and our much-loved collection of rescue dogs. I’m an avid reader, walker, traveller, and unapologetic lover of chocolate.
