The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for Cedar Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Cedar Court in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.661 for Cedar Court is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 127 Ratings = 4.661
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 3.738 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5
Target of 12.6 positive Reviews (63 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 12.6 Target = 0.238
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

All staff that I have encountered are without exception, excellent! They provide an extremely high level of care and support and treat residents with dignity.
The staff are like an extended family and I cannot praise them highly enough.
Food is outstanding, surroundings and building is good. This combined with the high level of care make it a top quality establishment.

From management to care staff, Cedar Court provided a safe and welcoming home in which my mother has lived for over two years. They have worked hard to get to know her and her needs. I am always informed of changes in her care and the staff are very approachable. My family and I are always made to feel welcome when visiting and over the years, I have got to know mums carers and I feel we are lucky to have such dedicated staff working at Cedar Court. The atmosphere there can make even a stressful visit when mum isn't having a good day so much better when you know they care and that mum and I have their knowledgeable support.

The staff are excellent and my mother is well cared for. They treat her with dignity and respect, and as an individual. Staff have a good understanding of Alzheimer's. Any health problems have been attended to promptly, and staff are always willing to talk to me about my mother's care.

The nursing and care staff take a lot of time to understand my Mum's needs so that the care and support can be provided in a very personalised way. It is impressive that whichever member of staff I speak to they seem to be fully aware of my Mum's state of health and how she has been over the last hours or days. The staff are willing to spend a lot of time and effort supporting Mum and really want to do their best for her.
All the staff seem to have a good understanding of dementia and with a 24-hour nursing presence are able to quickly respond to changing situations.
Overall I am very happy with staff and management at Cedar Court.

A warm welcome awaits anyone who needs to access this service. From the very first time I set foot in Cedar Court I was welcomed. The staff are all very welcoming and bent over backwards to accommodate my aunt very quickly. They are working hard to learn about her and her needs. I attended the recent relatives meeting which is a great opportunity to hear about developments at the home and to meet other service user's relatives and exchange experiences. I have had previous experience of nursing homes having placed my father, and worked in one in administration, and a temporary placement for my aunt. This is by far the best of the four.

Review submitted from a Website Submission by Jane C (Cousin of Resident) on Friday 13 November 2015. Relates to November 2015.
This home provides a caring, respectful and responsive environment for my cousin, who needs a high level of 24-hour care and support. All the facilities, as far as I have seen them, are maintained at a high standard; but even more striking than this is the human quality of the care provided, without which even the best-managed facilities would be missing something vital. The staff are friendly and kind, both to residents and visitors. They pay close attention to my cousin's needs (including his medical needs) and his preferences, and they engage actively with him as the intelligent and thoughtful individual he is. They are also responsive to questions and enquiries from family members. I attribute the high quality of this home to a great extent to its current manager, who works with a quite exceptional combination of care, efficiency, imagination, good judgment and openness, and who is able to enthuse her staff with these qualities. I cannot fault this home on any score.
