My parents entered Cedar Court Care Home in December 2022. It has taken me a while to fully adjust to this and understand the workings of a care home and set my sights on the standards and expectations. My father is in the dementia wing and it is only now, some months later, that I am beginning to fully appreciate the huge challenges that face the management and staff, day by day, hour by hour. The staff at Cedar Court, many of whom are now known by first name, show such dedication and professionalism. I can't name names as such but the carers who deal with my father show real compassion towards him which makes being able to deal with seeing him slip from this world into another all the more comforting at a time that is deeply upsetting to witness. My mother too, now incredibly frail, receives this same care and attention and gradually we have all become 'one family'. For anyone needing to use a care home for loved ones, brace yourself but with homes like Cedar Court, you will be looked after.

I have been very impressed by Cedar Court Care Home. The care and attention to detail have been second to none. My mother-in-law has been treated with compassion, dignity and respect. I have especially been blown away by the way in which her culture has been considered. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Met the new permanent manager who has a lot of common sense and I'm sure will make things better. Already the garden has had a revamp and looks fabulous. The new staff members I am told are now mostly permanent, again a huge benefit to all. Small repairs which had been previously ignored have also been done. I hope the hard but very positive steps continue so that I can give a full five-star rating.

Carry on the good work all of you. Your new manager is making a huge, long-awaited difference, long may she stay.

My mum has been at Cedar Court for a number of years now and she is always happy. She does look like she needs a bath/shower and hair wash when I go in sometimes but I understand this can be difficult. There always looks like there should be more carers on duty but it can be hard to employ the right person, the staff are always so busy. When Ive been in at meal times the food always look lovely. Thank you to all the staff who look after her.

My dad can be quite difficult at times and has remained on a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) since his admission. All staff have been so good with calming him down and using distraction techniques to de-escalate any situation. They are all very friendly and caring.

Cannot fault the reception staff or the food coming from the kitchen. Cleanliness and tidying of my mother's room leaves room for improvement although the communal areas are fine. I agree with the other reviewer that handovers appear to be haphazard in that a requested service expected and given by some carers is ignored by others.

I visit a lady who has been a resident at Cedar Court Care Home for many years and has quite complex needs. She always seems to be well cared for and any issues I have raised have been dealt with promptly and appropriately.
The staff on reception are very friendly and helpful. Nursing staff appear to be very busy and since my friend moved to another part of the home I have not had a chance to get to know them. However, the standard of care does seem good.
In recent years there have been a number of managerial changes which may have caused some problems in continuity of care but I hope things will stabilise now after a time which has been difficult for all.

Overall, I feel this is a good home.

My husband has been a resident of Cedar Court since 2010. I have seen managers come and go, good and bad. I've seen Cedar Court at its best and at its worst. I've seen it bought back from a not so good place to a rating of "Good". The current manager is new and has a long way to go and communication could be better. Relatives' meetings during the day are no good for working relatives. There needs to be more consistency in the care team looking after my husband. A more efficient handover with staff is needed because care plan and care needs are not always explained or followed. Cleanliness of the rooms and the laundry need improvements. The rooms need updating and repairs acted on asap. The chef is amazing and the food is excellent. The reception staff are also amazing, polite and very helpful. I look forward to being able give 5 star ratings.

To all who look after my lovely Mum through the COVID pandemic so far! I can't thank you all enough. I am so grateful with the way she has received her care, in such a lovely environment. Simply 'the best home' I could have found for her. Great management and staff. Thank you!
