Cedar Court care home provides nursing, dementia and respite care to up to 63 residents. The team at Cedar Court also provide care via a specialist unit for younger people with disabilities. Experienced, registered nurses and care assistants, selected for their skills, operate a 24 hour service, delivering a high standard of care to suit individual nursing care needs.

An experienced Manager supervises the day to day running of the home and ensures that the care delivered encompasses social, physical, psychological and environmental needs. The catering team provides a varied meal choice, including nutritious and tasty meals, and special dietary requirements are catered for.

Accessible to those who wish to visit family members, the home stands within easy reach of local shops and major road routes such as the A40 to Oxford and London. Witney is the largest of the market towns in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and much of the architecture reflects the past prosperity of the woollen trade, including the 17th century Butter Cross and Church of St Mary the Virgin with its 150ft spire. The town has a bustling atmosphere with a good range of shops, supermarkets and a twice weekly market.

Cedar Court is a disabled friendly home, complete with en-suite bedrooms, a choice of lounge areas and secure courtyard garden. All care is personalised and each resident has their own key worker who keeps up with their requirements, enabling the team to respond to any change of preference or health.

Due to Covid-19. I can only speak from distanced outside visits.
However, these are well organised, safe visits to my mother which I would not want any other way to avoid possible infection to her or the home.

The staff have been very caring and nurture a personal relationship. Consistency of staff is a big factor in this. It would be nice to have more outdoor space, but the room is light and bright. Communication with the family has been very good and much appreciated.

I have visited my sister on numerous occasions, mostly unannounced. I have found the care staff to be very professional, but friendly towards us as visitors and very caring towards my sister.

I can't think of anything at all negative but he is very well cared for. Especially, in light of the pandemic, Facetime and now visits, plenty of phone calls to keep us updated. All needs catered for; he is as happy there as he can be, and sometimes thinks he's in a hotel. Couldn't ask for better than
that!
Reply from Gener Tayhopon, Home Manager at Cedar Court Care HomeThank you for your rating and feedback. Five stars across the board is really amazing. We couldn’t ask for a better compliment than this. This is a timely compliment that each member of my team needs during these difficult times.

My mum-in-law has been at cedar court for 7-years and has been very well looked after. The staff take great care of her and see to all her needs. During this awful time we are going through, they have kept us informed every step of the way, which has given us peace of mind as we weren't allowed to visit
her, which was really had but we get the regular phone and face time calls which was excellent considering all the staff had to do and emotionally cope with. They were excellent, thank you, staff, at Cedar Court.

Our mother has been a resident in Cedar Court for almost two years now and in that time she has been well looked after especially during the lockdown weeks when we were unable to go in. I was able to visit Mum for the first time last week and she looked so well and cheerful. A very big thank you to
all staff for their hard work and diligence during these difficult times.
Reply from Gener Tayhopon, Home Manager at Cedar Court Care HomeThank you for your review. We sincerely appreciate that you understand the difficulties that we are in during these challenging times. We are strengthening our activities provisions having full-time activities organiser joining the existing activities team. We are aiming, in as much as restrictions are still in place relating to social distancing, to further improve opportunities for residents to get involved with meaningful occupation.

Management has a long way to go especially the home manager. Alarm system needs an update, plus residents need to be placed in the right units in the building e.g. those with dementia and those without.

My husband has dementia and has been in Cedar Court since October. Overall I would say I have been fairly happy with his care and time there. The staff are very caring, friendly but efficient in their work. The laundry can sometimes be a problem with items getting lost but know that this is not any
easy job with so much to do. Being self-funding disappointed that have to pay extra for hair cuts and nail cutting.

My mum came to Cedar Court about 2 months ago. She was distressed, depressed, confused and we could no longer manage her behaviour or her needs. The difference now is amazing. I have not seen her smile or laugh for what must be years. The staff are clearly doing something that we could not do.
The
manager realises that the decision to put a loved one in care is not easy, and he spends considerable time making sure that relatives are given reassurance and help when needed.
Staff are friendly, helpful and diligent. They always make my mum feel special.
Visitors are always made welcome and they always seem to know who you are visiting.
Both my dad and I can now sit back knowing that my mum is in a very safe place and being cared for in a professional and caring way.

My father has been here for more than a year. There is a core group of caregivers that have been here throughout. They are kind, caring and compassionate. I would recommend the home to any family considering dementia care for a loved one. I live out of the country which is difficult. Knowing my father
safe and well cared for is a huge comfort.

I have been very surprised how my wife has improved since her arrival at cedar court and she seems very happy. I put this down to the care she receives. The food and drinks etc are excellent. The laundry keeps her clothes in very good order. The manager and nursing staff are well on top if problems
occur.
Well done Cedar Court.

Early in the year Cedar Court went through staffing problems and is now getting over that problem by employing permanent rather than relying on agency staff. I have found the staff approachable.
The items that I feel need more attention are as follows;
Named items of clothing not being returned
to the proper residents after being washed.
Tea and coffee cups need to be collected more regularly from the resident's room and washed and stored properly.
It's been brought to my attention that the kitchen area needs to be kept clean, i.e. food left uncovered, milk left out of the fridge and dirty worktops. Need to put into practice your food hygiene policy.
Buzzers sounding and not being answered within an appropriate time span.
As care homes go in the local area Cedar Court is very competitive.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.764)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.764) out of 10 for Cedar Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for Cedar Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (281 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 352 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
