Very high standard of care, activities every day that involve all the residents, hairdressers and garden parties. Mum was at her happiest at Avery House and she spent five years there. We can honestly say she loved everyone. They were all kind, caring staff. Sadly Mum passed away. At Mum's funeral, one of the carers came along. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

My Mum has been a resident here for nearly two years now and whilst it has always been difficult for me to see her gradual deterioration, the staff here have always treated her with the care and dignity she deserves.

My mum has lived at Avery House for only a short time, however, when I first came to view the home, I knew as soon as I walked into reception. I wanted mum to spend her last days here. The staff are exceptional, kind, caring and treat all residents so kindly. The rooms are of 5-star hotel quality and the daily menus are amazing. Again, choice is wonderful. I cannot recommend Avery House enough. It will not only change my mum's life for the better. It is giving me total peace of mind that she is living in a safe and clean environment.

We have low team turnover, recently there have been two team members who have gone to take their nursing qualifications but they are still on bank here. Please feel free to pop in for a chat with our Home Manager on your next visit and she’ll be happy to go through any concerns. My connection to Hampton Grove is deeply personal, as my wife, Karen, is a full-time resident here. This unique perspective allows me to understand first-hand the journey that families go through when a loved one moves into care. As an ambassador, I act as a friendly and familiar face for other residents and their families, offering a bridge between home life and our community.
You’ll often see me around the home, whether I’m socially engaging with staff and families or rolling up my sleeves to help out. I particularly enjoy getting involved with our activities programme or spending time in the garden, helping to keep our outdoor spaces vibrant and welcoming for everyone.

Hi, I’m Maria Poghirc, the Unit Manager here at Hampton Grove. My journey with Barchester began in 2024 at one of our sister homes in Lincolnshire, where I was a Peripatetic Senior Carer. In November 2025, I was thrilled to join the Hampton Grove family in my current role.
Care is my true passion. I feel incredibly blessed to give back and support our residents every day. Quite simply, my job makes me happy and proud. I am ambitious and hardworking, qualities that led me to become a finalist in the Barchester Care Awards in 2025. My goal is to ensure that every resident here enjoys a life-enriching experience that is truly their 'best life'.
Outside of work, I’m very close with my mum and the rest of my family. We all share a huge love for travel, and the furthest I’ve explored so far is the Caribbean! When I’m not planning my next trip, I love socialising and spending quality time with family & friends.
