My mother has altzeimers and she was unable to continue living at home
I made the decision that she would need to go into residential care for her own safety and my piece of mind
From the first time we arrived at the care home we had a positive experience
The home itself is very clean and the
rooms are spacious and have there own facilities
The communal areas are Lovley and the grounds are well kept
All the staff have a great attitude and it is noted that they all care for the residents they are looking after
The administration staff have taken the time and explained everything that I needed to know
At present I Am considering full time care for my mother at Brackenfield as I have noticed a vast improvement in her general health and well being.
If the decision is made for full time care I will be happy for her to be cared for at Brackenfield care home.
I would rate it ten out of ten

My mum was at Brackenfield for the remaining years of her life. She was looked after well and her stay was made enjoyable for her by caring staff, good food and catering to her basic needs . We visited daily at Brackenfield and was always pleased with the care. Cleanliness was always paramount and in
particular 3 members of the care staff work above and beyond for my mum. All staff were good and willing to help also.
Thank you for all the care and support.

It is almost a year since Mum moved into Brackenfield Hall as a resident and the difference this has made to her wellbeing is amazing. Mum has settled in really well and feels safe and comfortable in her new home with en-suite facilities and all her needs catered for. The staff are so caring and nothing
is too much trouble for them. We are so pleased we chose Brackenfield Hall and have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone.

I cannot begin to say how much Brackenfield Hall Care Home has improved my mother-in-law's general health and awareness. She seems a totally different person now. Her weight has improved due to the fact she enjoys her meals. There is always a good choice at meal times and I can honestly say that the
food is of a really high standard and quality. How do I know? I have had a few meals at the home and they have all been excellent, especially the meat and potato pie. It is served by friendly staff at a table for 4, so the residents can chat away to one another. My mother-in-law has regained her appetite and looks forward to 'fish & chips' on Fridays. There are many activities available which non residents can participate in if so desired. The rooms are cleaned regularly and well maintained. Every Wednesday she looks forward to having her hair cut. Special praise must go to the staff who are caring, understanding and actually listen and act on any concerns that are raised.

We visited Mum on Mother's Day and were amazed at the fabulous spread of food and drinks provided by the catering staff. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and Mum was made to feel so special. It is so good to see how much progress that Mum has made since she became a resident and how much she enjoys
being there. The smile on her face tells it all. Really big thanks to all the staff at Brackenfield Care home for providing her with Safety, Comfort, Dignity, Entertainment and Love.

My nan has been a resident of Brakenfield Hall since October and I couldn't wish for a better place for her to live, it was such a hard decision to place my nan in residential care but the staff at Brakenfield made the process so much easier. The home itself is clean, well-maintained and smells lovely,
the staff are absolutely amazing and treat every resident like family. I truly couldn't wish for a better place. My nan is so happy and has improved so much while being here.

My mum has been in Brackenfield Hall a little over a year now and couldn't be happier, she is eating well, joins in all the activities, likes going to watch the singers and has her hair done every week in the salon. The home is well decorated, very clean and all the staff are friendly, I'm glad Mum
is in a home where she is well looked after but most importantly, very happy.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.919)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.919) out of 10 for Brackenfield Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 53 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.919 for Brackenfield Hall is calculated as follows: ( (617 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 632 Ratings = 4.919
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brackenfield Hall is based on 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 52 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
