My mother has been here for six weeks now, and she settled in very well. The staff are amazing and very kind to my mum. Food is lovely, and my mum's room is always clean. I am very happy with the care she is receiving here.

Mum's health has greatly improved since staying at The Springs Care Home. She is happy, relaxed and feels very well looked after. She has said from the beginning that the staff are all very good, cheerful and helpful. She enjoys the food and has her own very nice, clean, spacious en-suite room. We have
been very happy so far.
Reply from Grace Langfield, Customer Service Adviser at The Springs Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. It is always so pleasing for us to hear relatives and residents alike commenting on how well looked after the staff make them feel. We hope to continue making your mum's stay as positive and comfortable as possible.

My father moved to The Springs last month, we didn't expect it to be easy for him, but the management and staff have been wonderful. They welcomed him with open arms and made his and our lives so much better. Dad has been cared for respectfully and with dignity, he's safe, clean, comfortable and well-fed,
at this time we really couldn't ask for more. Thank you to everyone involved, we are very grateful.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at The Springs Care HomeThank you for your feedback. Dad is a very recent resident, moving in at the start of October. We have been extremely impressed with the care Dad has received to date. The management and staff have done everything possible to help Dad settle into his new environment. Dad is in the Morgan Suite. We can visit at any time which is
brilliant. Everyone had also been extremely welcoming and helpful to us as a family. Dad's room always smells clean and the food looks lovely. So, yes, a very good first month.

My 84-year-old mother is currently residing at The Springs. My mother has always been very independent until a few months ago when her mobility was severely impaired after several nasty falls. Reluctantly, she agreed she needed 24/7 support for a few months with the hope that she can make a recovery
sufficient enough to be able to return to her own home. Immediately upon arriving at the home, Mom was made to feel extremely welcome. The staff are attentive to her 24/7 and she is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Above all, the staff go above and beyond in actually caring for her, listening and helping her to settle into a very different world from what she has known before. Not only do the staff make Mom feel as comfortable as possible, they treat all her visitors in the same way. We are always welcomed with open arms and they take the time to explain everything that has happened with Mom since the previous visit so that we are kept fully informed of her progress. Thank you to all.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at The Springs Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We hope The Springs care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Dad has the best care possible. The cares are professional and treat Dad with respect. The Springs is fully maintained very clean and always has a great atmosphere. The resident's food is neatly presented. Throughout the recent heatwave, the residents were kept cool and maintained to ensure they were
fully hydrated at all times.

My brother was admitted for end-of-life care. He picked up on admission but predictably died two weeks later. care my brother received from all the staff.

My experience of The Malvern Springs care home was a very positive one. My mother sadly passed away on the 18th July but the care that she received in her final weeks, in my opinion, was very attentive, sympathetic and professional. I was visiting my mother on a daily basis and indeed stayed with her
constantly for the last 10 days of her life. The help and support that both my mother and I received from all of the staff was very welcome and I have taken great comfort knowing that her final days were as pleasant and peaceful as they could be. Thank you.

Very pleased with the care provided for my wife. Good room, excellent staff, good location.
My wife was admitted at short notice as an interim arrangement between hospital and home. Because she needed nursing care she was placed on the dementia floor which lacked activities. Otherwise fine.

Our father is very content with the care he receives at the Springs. He blows kisses to the staff and calls them 'darling' which is a sure sign he is happy and feeling safe and cared for. The staff are always happy to talk to me, honest and do everything they can to meet his needs. It is amazing to
know they love and appreciate him now he can no longer live at home. I am really impressed with their professionalism and kindness. Thank you.

Staff at The Springs looked after my mother with kindness and professionalism during her stay of approximately eight months. She was happy at The Springs, liked the staff who cared for her and felt comfortable and safe. I found everyone very helpful and thoughtful. It was nice to see my mother eat well
and maintain a healthy weight after not doing so when living alone previously. The Springs is very clean, tidy, and well maintained, and Covid measures were efficient and well managed. Communication from the manager was always prompt and helpful, including Covid guidance and information on paying for extra services such as hairdressing. The location is convenient both for driving and for getting there by bus and train. I would like to thank the manager and staff for doing a great job.

My dad was admitted to The Springs in July 2020 and stayed until Mid November. They had worked so hard to nurse him to his optimum health and we were so grateful. He declined during August 2021 and went to them again on 21/08/2021. He was quite poorly. Unfortunately, on Wednesday 25th August 2021 he
declined and they called us in to say he was on end of life. They treated him and us with care and compassion throughout the last 5 days of his life. We are extremely grateful to them for this (Elgar Unit).

The staff at The Springs have been incredible, caring for my father-in-law during the end of his life. They have all been so very kind, attentive and professional. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for The Springs Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for The Springs Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (230 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 319 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Springs Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been a home manager for over 12 years. I am a registered nurse and have been for nearly 20 years, firstly working in the NHS as a band 5 nurse progressing to ward sister. I left the NHS in 2010 to work in my first care home, progressed very quickly to unit lead and then deputy manager, taking on my first home manager role in 2011 for Bupa. I have had regional roles within the sector, supporting other home managers and improving the quality of care.

I love working in care services as the difference we can make to people’s lives is massive; we are so privileged to help to enhance resident’s lives, and that of their families and friends, too.

Every day is different; being a part of such a fantastic team is so rewarding, with our combined goal to make a difference to those that we care for.

I am married with 2 grown-up children, I have 2 wonderful step-grandchildren and a new baby granddaughter. My family are my world; I love nothing more than everyone coming to our house for a get-together. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, especially whilst sat on a sunbed in the sunshine on holiday!

Job Title: Clinical Deputy Manager Joined: 2024

During my work experience week at school, I went to the ALEX (Redditch Acute Hospital) and worked on one of the wards for the week. In that week I knew I would always work within the care sector and I have ever since. I started as a care assistant within a nursing home and then became a field care manager in domiciliary care. I thoroughly loved working in a nursing home as a care assistant and knew that was the area of the care sector that I wanted to work in. However, I needed to go away and gain more experience and knowledge first so I could complete the role not only effectively but to a high standard - I completed my nurse training, working as a care assistant.

Once qualified, I made the move to the acute setting to gain more experience. During my time in the NHS, I became a sister in both urgent care and HDU. I also completed my bleep training for Worcestershire Acute Trust and regularly had the bleep over the weekends. The bleep is the clinical site lead, so I would be in charge of the clinical side of the whole of Alexandra Hospital. I enjoyed my time within the acute setting but felt I had gained the experience and knowledge I needed to form a strong base to continue my career within the primary sector and more specifically within a nursing home. I love many aspects of working within care services, but I would say one of my favourite aspects would have to be listening to other people's stories and life experiences.

In my spare time, one of my main hobbies would have to be showing my dogs, we have had the pleasure of running around the green carpets of crafts every year since I started showing. My dogs and horses take up the majority of my free time!

I enjoy working in care services as every day is different here - seeing the residents enjoying their food and living a better, longer and healthier life is so rewarding.

I love spending my spare time in the garden growing all sorts of fruit, vegetables and flowers, I also enjoy watching my football team play and holidays in Spain with my wife.

Job Title: Senior Activity Coordinator Joined: 2022

I'm the Senior Activity Coordinator here at The Springs. I started working in the care sector as my Dad was in a care home and I loved that this role enabled me to give residents a better quality of life.

I have 4 children, 6 grandchildren and two more on the way!

In my spare time, I like walking, reading, jewellery making and also making floral tributes.
