My daughter was admitted with confusion and completely immobile. Her personal care was "second to none". She has improved immensely over the past eight months. All carers and staff are very professional. The activities coordinator kept her cheerful and positive arranging many things for her to do and
sending cards and photos to us. Everyone pulled together to offer quality care in this very difficult time of coping with COVID.
Reply from Amanda Barnes, Customer Service Adviser at The Springs Care HomeWe appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is lovely to hear that your daughter has improved over the course of her stay. We are glad that our activities coordinator has kept her positive and cheerful. Mum has been cared for at The Springs Care Home for around 3-years! She is a very frail and poorly lady who has faced death many times, and through it all, has been treated with affection and a degree of care that is second to none. In Mum’s dark times, I have also been kept appraised every step of
the way. This communication is key... the leadership here is clearly a dedicated and caring professional whose team are equally caring and professional. From the reception, right through to all the staff on floor 3, the experience is pleasant and caring. The group directors should be both proud and pleased with what is achieved at The Springs Care Home.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at The Springs Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. We are glad to hear that you have felt well supported and informed through everything by everyone at The Springs. It is always so nice to hear words like caring and compassionate used to describe our staff. We will certainly pass your kind words on to the whole team.

I can't thank all the carers and staff at The Springs enough for all their wonderful care and support for my mum. She has been at The Springs for nearly two years, and throughout the Covid lockdown, I have always been satisfied that her needs have been met with exceptional care. It was wonderful to
visit recently, and despite her limited capacity, she was able to communicate what a lovely place it was, how cheerful the care staff were, and how she much liked it. She is now in a fairly advanced stage of Alzheimer's, and it so reassuring to know she is safe and content, and still has a lovely smile for everyone. In particular, the clinical management team have always been able to provide honest but sensitive advice, and every effort made by reception staff to facilitate visits within the restrictions. Thank you to the manager, activities organiser, and all the team for making the last year bearable.

During these last 10-months, I have seen my wife 5 times behind a glass screen. I have been told other visitors have had the privilege many more times. I visited my wide every day in the first year she was in the home, lasting 5-6 hours. When you have been married for 57 years, I feel I have been let
down.
Reply from Emily Wilson, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at The Springs Care HomeThank you for your feedback, and we appreciate your overall rating of our home.
We are sorry to hear you haven’t been able to visit your wife more times than you would like during the pandemic.
We seek to provide all relatives as many opportunities as possible to visit their loved ones whilst adhering to government guidance on visiting.
Please do speak to the Home Manager to arrange further visits in the future, either in the POD, or in the garden when the weather is appropriate, and we will look to accommodate as best we can if safe to do so.

The Springs have kept us informed through the pandemic. My mother has been very well looked after and they have done their utmost to keep her safe, well and happy. They have enabled safe visiting outside through the summer and in a safe Pod more recently. I have just had a 'lateral flow' enabled visit
which was managed with great care and sensitivity.

My mother was a resident of The Springs for five years. I cannot recommend this home highly enough, the care and attention she received was exemplary. The care assistants really did care for her and if something needed rectifying this was quickly done with minimal fuss. The premises was always clean
and all the staff very welcoming. I was fortunate to be able to spend quality time with my mum in her final days whilst being supported by your team. Thank you so so much you are appreciated!

My mother spent her last few months at The Springs, the staff caring for her were excellent, showing her great compassion and individualised care, even though this pandemic and its restrictions. Due to the nature of my mother's deteriorating condition we were allowed the freedom to visit and regular
COVID testing. I will always be grateful for this access and the compassion shown by the staff in her final days.

My father went into The Springs following a stroke which also affected his dementia. It was a difficult time because of Covid restrictions which meant that we couldn't visit, which was especially hard for my mum. However, the staff were always helpful and kind and contacted us every time there was a
problem. The activities coordinator was especially considerate, taking an interest in Dad as a person and organising Skype and phone calls for us. He seemed to be content at the home, especially having the freedom to walk around the bright corridors and communal areas using his rollator. Mum and I were able to have a compassionate visit the afternoon before Dad passed away, for which we were very grateful. Many thanks to all the staff for caring for Dad in the last weeks of his life.

Wanted to provide feedback for the wonderful care to my mother who has been resident at The Springs for three and a half years. The staff are always keeping me informed especially through the difficult pandemic of the well being of my mother. Special thank you to a member of staff who has now left but

Our father has been in the unit for well over a year and has been shown great care and respect.
Everyone works really hard to take care of his needs and make him as comfortable as possible; he looks forward to his meal times and the facilities are excellent from the dining room lounge and his own ensuite
room.
Communication from the staff is just right, and they do all they can to provide the best for his well being.
My Brother and I are grateful to the staff for all their hard work. It’s hard to imagine him receiving better care anywhere else.

This is an excellent care home each time I go to visit my dear friend who is on the priory floor. I find it a very happy place, the staff even under pressure are all happy and get on with everyone! It’s a pleasure to go in there on a visit. The food looks appetizing, the kitchen staff are amazing, and
cook some wonderful recipes for the residents! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who would need a good care home for one of there relatives or friends. Definitely worth 5-star rating!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for The Springs Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for The Springs Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (230 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 319 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Springs Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been a home manager for over 12 years. I am a registered nurse and have been for nearly 20 years, firstly working in the NHS as a band 5 nurse progressing to ward sister. I left the NHS in 2010 to work in my first care home, progressed very quickly to unit lead and then deputy manager, taking on my first home manager role in 2011 for Bupa. I have had regional roles within the sector, supporting other home managers and improving the quality of care.

I love working in care services as the difference we can make to people’s lives is massive; we are so privileged to help to enhance resident’s lives, and that of their families and friends, too.

Every day is different; being a part of such a fantastic team is so rewarding, with our combined goal to make a difference to those that we care for.

I am married with 2 grown-up children, I have 2 wonderful step-grandchildren and a new baby granddaughter. My family are my world; I love nothing more than everyone coming to our house for a get-together. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, especially whilst sat on a sunbed in the sunshine on holiday!

Job Title: Clinical Deputy Manager Joined: 2024

During my work experience week at school, I went to the ALEX (Redditch Acute Hospital) and worked on one of the wards for the week. In that week I knew I would always work within the care sector and I have ever since. I started as a care assistant within a nursing home and then became a field care manager in domiciliary care. I thoroughly loved working in a nursing home as a care assistant and knew that was the area of the care sector that I wanted to work in. However, I needed to go away and gain more experience and knowledge first so I could complete the role not only effectively but to a high standard - I completed my nurse training, working as a care assistant.

Once qualified, I made the move to the acute setting to gain more experience. During my time in the NHS, I became a sister in both urgent care and HDU. I also completed my bleep training for Worcestershire Acute Trust and regularly had the bleep over the weekends. The bleep is the clinical site lead, so I would be in charge of the clinical side of the whole of Alexandra Hospital. I enjoyed my time within the acute setting but felt I had gained the experience and knowledge I needed to form a strong base to continue my career within the primary sector and more specifically within a nursing home. I love many aspects of working within care services, but I would say one of my favourite aspects would have to be listening to other people's stories and life experiences.

In my spare time, one of my main hobbies would have to be showing my dogs, we have had the pleasure of running around the green carpets of crafts every year since I started showing. My dogs and horses take up the majority of my free time!

I enjoy working in care services as every day is different here - seeing the residents enjoying their food and living a better, longer and healthier life is so rewarding.

I love spending my spare time in the garden growing all sorts of fruit, vegetables and flowers, I also enjoy watching my football team play and holidays in Spain with my wife.
