In all of our dealings with Winchester Heights I have found them to be efficient, kind , professional and understanding in everything that has related to my wife being accepted. She has dementia and since arriving all of the assistance has been to make her feel comfortable and welcome. This is never an easy time and I have always been made welcome every visit , they listen if you have any concerns and act accordingly. Cannot recommend them any higher.

As a nurse myself who visits my friend regularly, I have been very impressed with the consistent level of care, dignity and respect I have witnessed, given to all residents.
Challenging situations are faced by staff with calmness and resolved with compassion and understanding.
Meals are of a high quality, diverse selection and daily activities are well organised, inclusive and varied.

Laundry and cleaning services are well run and efficient. It is so lovely to see a place where everyone is treated as an individual and needs met accordingly.

My Dad spent the final month of his life at this nursing home, & although we thought he would be there much longer, the care he received in that short time was exceptional. The staff treated him as if he were a long-term resident from the moment he arrived - warm, attentive, patient, & genuinely positive in everything they did.
There is a lovely atmosphere in the home: people are busy, energetic, & clearly take pride in their work. Everyone we met was ready to listen, offer support, & help with anything we needed. They were wonderful with my dad, but also incredibly kind to my brother & me as we navigated the last days of his life.
Dad's room was beautiful, more like a small studio flat than a typical care home room, which made him feel safe, settled, & at peace. Knowing there was always someone right outside his door comforted him enormously.

We could not have asked for a more caring, peaceful place for Dad to spend his final days. I am deeply grateful to every member of the team.

The care mum receives from the staff at Winchester Heights is above and beyond. Mum has made friends with all the staff and all acknowledge her whenever then pass her. Mum celebrated her 95th birthday and all staff were excited for her and presented her with a special cake and balloons. Mums face truly lit up! What a great team they all are.

My mother moved to Winchester Heights in January very reluctantly. Unbelievably, she is very happy and settled. She enjoys the combination of her quiet room and the activities and the company, and loves all the staff. Such a relief. And when I visit her there is always a friendly welcome from everyone.

My Mum needed to be transferred to a care home due to slowly deteriorating dementia. Having known the care home for a while (I am local and have been involved with the care home as the local parish Vicar) I knew she would be well looked after there... and she really was. They were adaptable, loving and thoughtful. Whenever anything was asked they were more than willing to help and support in whatever way they could. In the end my Mum was only there for 7 weeks as she died from a blood clot in the lungs. I was deeply moved when I saw the staff were themselves very upset and cried as they had got that close to her in that short time. The staff genuinely care and do their best to give what they can for all who live there. Thank you!

We were understandably extremely worried about how our 95 year old mother with dementia would settle into residential care. We were very pleasantly surprised however at how well she settled in at Winchester Heights. We were able to furnish her room with her own personal possessions to make her feel more at home and visit as often as we liked. Everything seems to be managed as well as possible - everything including mum, is kept very clean and there seem to be enough staff to provide a good level of monitoring and care. As mum had been largely confined to one room at home, with very limited social contact, it has been amazing to see her mixing and socialising with people of her own age not to mention going out on trips to the cinema and Winchester Cathedral - being at Winchester Heights has certainly improved her quality of life. The great stress and weight of responsibility of caring for someone at home has been greatly lifted which has been a huge relief.

Reply from Dawn Sanders, Client Liaison Manager at Winchester Heights Care Home - Avery Collection

Thank you for your feedback, we're delighted that mum has settled so well and is enjoying the activities and vibrancy of our community. It is nice that you were able to bring some furniture to personalise the room and make it feel homely, it is these extra touches that really do make a difference....

Looking for residential care for a parent is not easy; however I can say thank you to the all the team it has been made so much easier. Right from the first contact I had I knew that it was a very caring establishment. Then when I visited for the first time it was confirmed. A very welcoming atmosphere, caring, homely, comfortable and a happy place. Not only was the welcome for mum great but for my sister and myself as well. The contact with all the staff brilliant, approachable and understanding. Then we were introduced to the all the actives; something for everyone every day of the week, amazing . It comes across that the well being of each resident is a priority. I think that all is left for me to say is a hugh THANK YOU to whole team. I would recommend Winchester Heights without hesitation.

When l first came to look around for my Dad l noticed a sense of kindness and a friendly environment and felt so much warmth!.Making a decision for our loved ones is so difficult but l have never looked back and I'm so glad l made this decision. The well being of the residents is the top of their priority and the activities and entertainment is brilliant, and the care is amazing and the food is amazing! . They include the family and make you feel part of the home too and they are so approachable! I cannot fault this home and they encourage my Dad's independence and he has an input into the home and they listen to their residents and this is so lovely. I cannot recommend Winchester heights enough! Thank you for everything you do !

Mum had vascular dementia and lived in The Willows (formerly Reminiscence) for 4 years from May 2021. Living nearby, I visited frequently and almost daily in her last 6 months of life. Her care was outstanding. The concierges were always helpful when I phoned to ask whether Mum was awake and warmly welcomed me and my family. The Willows staff are unfailingly kind and compassionate. Mum was unaware of time and mainly mobile so she would often join the staff at night; they would hold her hand, chat and bring her sandwiches. In the day she might join a staff meeting happily feeling part of a family. I am hearing-impaired and staff always took care to keep me abreast of changes in Mum's health. In times of crisis, they welcomed and supported me and/or my children when we came in at night to sit with Mum. I cannot speak too highly of the dedication and strong vocation of the staff creating a home for residents with dementia where everyone is respected and precious as an individual.

From our first visit to Winchester Heights we were struck by its warm, welcoming family atmosphere. Moving to Winchester from their home was a massive step for my parents, but all the staff have been incredibly supportive and caring, ensuring that what could have been traumatic, was an incredibly pleasant and stress-free experience. All the staff are friendly and extremely professional. Nothing is too much trouble and the individualised care for residence is excellent. The activities available are superb and my parents are enjoying the delicious and diverse menu. It is such a pleasure to visit Winchester Heights - my parents love their new home, and so do I!

All the staff from Winchester Heights including, nursing, carers, reception, maintenance, catering, activities, everyone has helped my father settle into his new home, from being very nervous and anxious to joining in activities, having bus rides to local places, interacting with all members of staff and thoroughly enjoying the tasty varied menu.
The team have all taken the time to understand my father's various needs, it's been first class treatment.
This has really helped us as a family to relax more knowing he is being very well looked after and cared for.
We are able to enjoy visiting him, nothing is too much trouble.

So very happy we chose Winchester Heights!

My Godmother came to Winchester Heights in rather a rush as she had become increasingly frail and nervous. The team there were amazing at making her feel at home. We had a long journey from Penzance and could not tell them when we would arrive however the care manager changed his shifts to be there to greet us and make sure my godmother had all the equipment, medical care etc. she required. The care team were so friendly and reassuring and the management knew the residents as individuals.
