Overall Experience
My sister has been a resident in Reminiscence at Sunrise for a little while now. In the beginning, she was reluctant to be there. But with the patience, kindness, encouragement and care of the wonderful staff there, she now considers it her home.
She's happy and content and relates well to all who look after her.
I just want to say a big thank you to the Reminiscence team for the lovely family atmosphere they have created. Also, for their genuine care and compassion.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunrise to anyone who has a loved one with dementia.

My husband went into Sunrise of Winchester initially on a respite basis, but then on a permanent basis as his health deteriorated. The care provided was outstanding and enabled me to spend quality time with him in his final weeks, as a wife rather than as a carer.

I cannot speak too highly of the care he received - it was professional, timely and sensitive to his needs and mood. All staff and management were warm and caring and made him feel as though he was at home. Amongst my friends who visited there were healthcare professionals. They were hugely impressed by Sunrise. They could fault nothing. Thank you for making the end of my husband's life so special.

My mum stayed at Sunrise for a short time this year. It is a beautiful residential home with a range of excellent activities each day, lovely communal areas to enjoy and an excellent restaurant and coffee lounge.

The level of care from all members of staff and particularly nursing staff far exceeded our expectations and they looked after my mum with kindness and dignity. We are so grateful to the whole team.

Our mother stayed at Sunrise of Winchester for nearly three years, the last eight months in Reminiscent. She missed her home and family but quickly found a new one at Winchester. She enjoyed the friendship and company. The staff were so kind to her and we shall always be grateful for that. She was treated with dignity and kindness to the end and it was a great consolation to us, her children that she was so happy and safe. Thank you.

My aunt is 100 years old and requires frequent attention and help with all her needs and personal care. She has been at Sunrise of Winchester for just over 8 years and I am struck by how well the nursing and care staff have continued to look after her as her physical and mental capabilities have declined over that period.
I have seen on many occasions the care, affection and respect with which they support my aunt in all her needs and I have complete confidence that they have her safety, comfort and wellbeing at the centre of their care.
Many of the staff have been at Sunrise of Winchester for much of the time my aunt has been a resident so she is cared for by people with familiar voices who have taken the trouble to get to know her, her history and the family members who visit. If I had any concerns I would feel able to raise them.

I would recommend Sunrise without hesitation.

Having had misgivings about care homes, I have to admit that I would not entertain the idea of researching other homes in Hampshire. I could not find any fault with Sunrise of Winchester and the entire staff have to be congratulated for providing the lovely friendly care at all times. A superb place to be.

My husband, in his early 60's, has an acquired brain injury and unpredictable medical problems, which can be life-threatening. He spent almost a year in a neuro rehab unit, so the move to Sunrise was worrying. He settled so quickly, which is a credit to the staff of Sunrise.
Sunrise have embraced the challenges my husband presents. The care, attention, professionalism he receives really is OUTSTANDING.
In such a short time Sunrise have settled him, monitored and cared for him so that he feels safe and happy. They have even supported me, which I have really appreciated.
All the staff, including the visiting GP and the amazing chef, have made my husband feel part of the home.

Well done Sunrise and thank you so much.

Nothing is perfect and during mum's 2 1/2 year stay there were issues nearly all dealt with kindly and attentively though problems with clothes persisted (lost wrong ones etc). End of life care was excellent dignified and compassionate. Staff were always welcoming to her family. Mum could be very difficult and despite frustration, she was managed with understanding and dignity by almost all staff.

Both my parents have recently moved into Sunrise. I live overseas and it has been a very challenging transition for all family and friends involved, especially being so far away. I have been overwhelmed with the support, care and excellent service that Sunrise staff have provided us all.
I feel so reassured and at peace now knowing that my parents are being so well looked after by people who really care and know what they're doing, and understand complex care need situations. My parents have already had many visitors, all who have reported back such very positive feedback about how they're settling in and about the staff at Sunrise.

Thank you.

After both of my parents spent a prolonged spell in hospital, they moved into Sunrise of Winchester. The staff are so warm and welcoming and this has really helped to settle them in as much as possible. The home is very well decorated and furnished, almost like a hotel, so you do wonder if you are in a care community. We always feel we are welcome when we visit and feel any queries we have are dealt with quickly.

The staff at Sunrise of Winchester have exceeded all my expectations over the Christmas period by offering exceptional care and consideration to her during an important period and also when I was unable to support my mother as well as I would have liked.

She regards Sunrise as her home and she feels part of a family there particularly as a result of the support and friendship shown by the staff and managers.

My parents have been at Sunrise of Winchester for nearly 2 years and we have found that EVERYONE at Sunrise Winchester, without fail, is courteous, helpful and treats the residents as if they were their own member of the family. My father has been able to settle and relax in the reminiscent community, whilst allowing my mother to still have her independence in the assisted living area and yet can visit dad whenever she feels able. The residents are valued and loved and their relatives are equally accepted no matter the time of day or night. The staff, from the helpers in the kitchen, the housekeeping, the carers, the nursing staff to the concierge, activities coordinators and administrative managers, all make relatives feel welcome, keep them informed and show sensitivity and tact when dealing with "trickier" residents or situations.

My Aunt was well looked after from her arrival at Sunrise in 2011 until her death at 96 years old in January 2018.
The staff were kind and helpful and always seemed happy which I am sure helped the residents immensely.

We moved my father to Sunrise after being told by his previous care home that they could no longer care for him. He was there for 4 weeks, was in bed the whole time and got very agitated, confused and stressed due to his Parkinsons. The day after arriving at Sunrise he was up, dressed, teeth in, glasses on and hearing aids in, what a transformation. After only 2 weeks at Sunrise, it is such a joy for the family to visit. My mother is 96 and to see her 94-year-old husband of 72 years so well looked after has helped her to relax and settle into life at home on her own. In two week he has started to stand and walk again. He has put on weight and has a smile on his face. The staff at Sunrise are incredibly kind and caring and go out of their way to give my father back his dignity and greater independence.
