Opened in December 2009, Tallis House is a modern purpose built care home offering en-suite rooms and flat screen TVs as standard. Residents enjoy comfortable surroundings, freshly prepared meals cooked by the head chef, a relaxing café, a hairdressing salon and lovely gardens to take a walk through.

The home is closely linked with the local School and Church and was named after Thomas Tallis, the 16th Century composer who lived at the Abbey, following a competition at the School Fete.

When mum arrived in Tallis House it was a breath of fresh air to meet highly professional and caring staff. I have found them all to be very approachable, always candid and honest with us, even when times have been difficult with mums dementia. Mum was extremely well cared for during her two years in
the home.

My mother's life was extended after she moved into residence here. Her life at home was lonely and the company, care, food and attention she received at Tallis House by all the staff she came into contact with was just what she needed and this enabled her to achieve the milestone of 100. The staff in
the home arranged and organised a celebration for her that the family were able to attend and it was gratifying to see her so happy.
This last few weeks, as her health deteriorated, staff were quick to react and were instrumental in the local GP's regular visits, making her as comfortable as possible as she slipped away peacefully.
Would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone looking for respite or longer-term residency. The management and staff are all first-class and pulling together as a team, generating a truly welcoming, homely atmosphere.

My mother has Alzheimer's and dementia which was extremely difficult for us to manage.
Tallis House has looked after her for over 2 years and has allowed us to get on with our own lives in the knowledge she is being cared for very well and treated with dignity.

I and some friends visit Tallis house regularly. We find the staff very friendly warm and inviting, the home is excellent and the residents seem very happy and contented. We love visiting our friend and love interacting with his friends. We would definitely recommend this lovely home to anyone thinking
of leaving their loved one in their care.

My wife has Alzheimer's Dementia and has been at Tallis House for 2 1/2 years. The service that she receives is outstanding. The staff are all very caring and considerate. The home is spotless and never looks 'unclean'. She could not be in a better place.

Tallis House is a very impressive home. The standard of care is very good and all the carers seem to be very attentive. The home has a very good feel to it and is always kept clean and tidy. It also has a very modern feel to it, which gives an overall impression of somewhere that is well looked after.
The experience I have had with the staff are all positive, very polite and personable people. Tallis House has been fantastic for my mum and I have nothing but praise and good words to say about it.

I come in once a month with a team from a local Church, (held in a local school). The welcome we have is amazing and the residents like to join in with old hymns, familiar prayers and listen to a Bible reading or story.
Over the years we have made friends with the residents, and for me, it is always
a pleasure to come in and share friendship with them.

From the first day I visited Tallis House I was so comfortable for Mum to be here. Mum was a very private person but accepted everyone and they restored my mum's faith in people. My mum could be bossy and the staff were so accommodating and accepted my mum's ways. The staff just went the extra mile
and were sympathetic to her needs. I especially would like to thank one member of staff for being with Mum at the end. What a great, amazing place. When it's my time - I'm coming here too! Thank you, everyone.

Tallis House is an outstanding care home that continues to exceed our expectations. All the staff are fantastic, professional, approachable, warm and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel so welcome when you visit. My mother-in-law has become such a more healthy, confident lady
since being in Tallis House and it really has been the making of her. I cannot recommend this care home enough, the care service my mother-in-law receives is first class and is worth every penny spent.

Mum went into Tallis House almost 4 years ago. At the time, it was a really difficult decision and time for us as mum was confused about where she was and why she wasn't going 'home'. The staff at Tallis House were excellent in making mum feel at home, taking time to find out about mum's history, her
likes, dislikes and all aspects of her life.
We were always fully informed of mum's care and occasionally, if she was poorly, actions that were being taken. The actual home was always clean and tidy with lots of bits and pieces on the walls to encourage the residents to interact and activities undertaken. Whenever, we visited we were always made to feel welcome. We would recommend Tallis House without hesitation.

A kind and caring atmosphere, where staff appear to treat residents with kindness and understanding, even those residents with 'challenging behaviour.
This is my only experience of a care home, so unable to make comparisons but all in all seemed quite satisfactory in most areas. Management excellent.

My ethos in my role is that with great teamwork, we can achieve anything for our residents and their families, and all our staff members contribute to the success of our home. Our residents are at the centre of everything we do at Tallis House.

My name is Joanne. I am one of the Deputy Managers at Tallis House, where I have been proudly working since 2016. I thoroughly enjoy being part of a great team, supporting my colleagues in their day-to-day duties, and providing high-quality care to our wonderful residents.


I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as Level 3 qualifications in End of Life Care and Dementia Care. I bring a positive energy to my work, complemented by a great sense of humour and a love for laughter.


Outside of work, I enjoy unwinding with TV series, swimming, attending live music events, and spending quality time with my family.

My name is Grace, and I am one of the Deputy Managers at Tallis House. I began my journey with Runwood in 2017, returned in 2023, and have been proud to work here ever since. I love working with a fantastic team, improving the quality of life for our residents, and embracing the fact that every day brings something new and exciting.


I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as an Access to Nursing and Midwifery Diploma. A fun fact about me is my obsession with sausage dogs—they’re my absolute favourite!


In my spare time, I enjoy watching crime documentaries, going ghost hunting, and spending quality time with my family.

Hi, I’m Catherine, the Home Administrator for Tallis House, where I’ve proudly worked for 14 years. I truly enjoy being part of such a dedicated team, connecting with residents, and getting to know their families.
