My mum has recently been admitted to Richmond Care Home and we are so happy we managed to place mum here. The staff are exceptionally good and very patient as mum can be a handful at times. I can highly recommend Richmond Care Home if you're considering a care home for a loved one, look no further.
Reply from Jane Beck, Home manager at Richmond Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review, we are so glad you are happy with the care mum receives and glad we were able to support both mum and her lovely family.

My mum has been in the Richmond care home since October 2018 and has received excellent care through all the recent trials of the covid pandemic. The carers are very good when looking after and she knows them well. I have no problems with arrangements for visiting and the staff treat me well. I have
a great respect for the way my mum is looked after and would recommend the Richmond to anyone looking for a place in care.
Reply from Jane Beck, Home manager at Richmond Care HomeThank you, very much for the lovely review, it's great to read that you are happy with the care mum receives, staff have worked immensely hard especially over the past few years overcoming the challenges of Covid and it`s wonderful that it is recognised, once again thank you.

My mum moved into Richmond care home this September and my mum is really really happy and settled in the care home my mum really likes the care home staff. I find the staff very welcoming, very friendly and polite, chatty, professional and excellent. They treat my mum with care, respect and dignity.
The care home is lovely with bedrooms, a lounge and a dining room and residents can join in with activities throughout the day if they choose to. My mum likes to get her hair done by the hairdresser weekly, and she is really happy with the food, she says has a really lovely good choice. I am also really happy with Richmond Care Home and the staff, and it's lovely and clean.

We have been friends and neighbours for over 25 years of a resident in Richmond. He had been diagnosed with dementia and gradually over time his condition worsened and he could not manage in his home even with help.
After looking at various homes with his relatives it was decided that Richmond would
provide the care he needed.
Since his admission, we have found he has been well looked after and he has settled in very well. A very fussy eater the home has met all his nutrition requirements and he looks very well and has put a little weight on. Despite covid restriction the staff have accommodated our visits so we could see him. The standard of hygiene and precautions because of covid have been excellent.
Reply from Jane Beck, Deputy Home Manager at Richmond Care HomeThank you very much for such a lovely review, the team appreciate the time you took in writing it, as it gives the team vital feedback on the care and support they deliver. It will be shared with all the staff who will be proud to read the review.

After visiting practically every care home in Doncaster we opted for The Richmond. My cousin wanted to stay in Doncaster and we were looking for a home that would be his forever home. We didn’t want to have to move him. He has always felt at home. And despite very challenging behaviour, he has been
well cared for. He’s still funny and kind and the care team sees this. We are grateful that they care for him so well.

My Godmother has been a resident in Richmond Care Home for over 12 months, she appears very happy and settled.
All the staff are very helpful and friendly to the residents and nothing appears to be too much trouble.
Any queries I have had have been dealt with quickly and with great efficiency.
I
have no concerns regarding my godmother's welfare and would happily recommend The Richmond.

Mum has been in Richmond Care Home for over a year now and was well cared for during lockdown despite the many challenges. However, now the care home is working hard to get back to normal and offering a great programme of events to stimulate and entertain the residents. I want to thank all the staff,
particularly the events coordinator for keeping mum laughing, singing and dancing. I receive regular photos and videos and can follow the care home on Facebook to see what mum has been up to. She looks 10 years younger and is always smiling. Great work. Thanks.

Mum moved into Richmond three weeks ago, what a positive move this has been after three years of constant travelling to care for her. All of the staff are lovely and mum has really taken to the friendly caring atmosphere created at Richmond. The Facebook page is used to keep family updated with photos
so even though Mum can't always remember what she has been doing, we can see she is joining in with the many varied activities and always looks happy.
The whole process of finding care was difficult until I contacted the staff at Richmond, they have made everything easy for us, especially Mum. Thank you to all staff.

After making the initially difficult decision to find a residence for my beloved grandfather, to meet his increasingly challenging physical and psychological needs, I can say without hesitation that Richmond is an establishment where excellence of care is prioritised second to nothing. The workers at
the home are attentive and present to both myself, my grandfather and to all the other residents at the home that I observed. The knowledge and skill of the nursing staff are exemplary and from a brief conversation with the Deputy Manager both myself and Gramps felt reassured, safe and in extremely capable hands. The environment is warm and welcoming and my grandfather is settled - happy for the first time since the passing of his wife. The Richmond, I cannot begin to thank you enough.

My mum over the years as always said please never put me in a care home, which made it difficult when she needed 24hr care. I can not recommend this lovely care home enough. The staff and management are wonderful and should be so proud of themselves and how they treat the residents. Nothing is ever
too much, the rooms are great, she eats all of her food and she loves the activities. my mum is happy and that is all that matters to me. Thank you Richmond ??

My auntie has been here now from late last year and I wouldn’t dream of her being anywhere else, it was hard to make the choice in the first place but all the team was so helpful and really put me and my family at ease when deciding on if this is the best choice, when looking around the home I knew
it would be perfect as it’s so homely and made us all feel very welcome, we are always kept up to date with any issues, events and updates with Covid19, the staff and management are extremely friendly and always make me feel at ease and like me and my auntie are never a burden, they really do go the extra mile. I couldn’t recommend a more clean, tidy, friendly welcoming home even if I tried. My auntie is always busy with activities and events and the food always looks amazing!

My Mum has been in Richmond Care Home for a few years now because unfortunately, she had to move from another Care Home due to neglect but choosing the Richmond was the best decision ever made. I cannot fault the home in any way it is always clean and tidy and mum's bedroom is very bright and spacious
and has her own toilet facilities. Mum is always dressed and clean and the staff are always friendly. When Mum, unfortunately, has an accident they always ring me to inform me no matter how small the incident is which really reassures me that she is being well looked after. I feel like the home really does take care of Mum and it is a huge relief to me that she is being well looked after and that I have chosen the right home for her to live in and best of all my Mum seems happy.

After accepting the realisation that Mum needed 24 hour care, we made the decision as a family to find the best care home possible that would be able to meet Mum's needs and give her the best quality of life she deserves. All the staff treat Mum with dignity and respect and they really care for Mum
and for us as a family. When we visit we are always made to feel very welcome by everyone. Mum is very happy at The Richmond and is encouraged to participate in activities which they have going on throughout the day. The home is very clean and tidy and there is always a lovely homely atmosphere. Mum's room is very bright and comfortable and we have taken in some things from home that she recognises. I am kept up to date by staff and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are always polite and helpful and above all, they really care and that was a big factor when making the decision which home to choose. As a family, we are very confident we chose the best care home for our mum.

After reviewing all the care homes in the Doncaster area, we decided after reading all the reviews on Doncaster care homes on the net and recognising we wanted Mum to be in the best care home possible that we would like to visit The Richmond as it had excellent reviews. We arranged a meeting with the
management team who we felt were very empathetic and courteous and listened to what we felt our mum needed and what our concerns were. Both myself and my sister left the meeting feeling very positive and confident that this was the care home we wanted our mum to move to. Mum moved in 4 weeks ago and since then, we have seen how happy she is and interacting with other residents and staff on a daily basis she now has a different quality of life. The staff and management are amazing. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.734)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.734) out of 10 for Richmond Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.909 for Richmond Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.909
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Richmond Care Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
