After reviewing all the care homes in the Doncaster area, we decided after reading all the reviews on Doncaster care homes on the net and recognising we wanted Mum to be in the best care home possible that we would like to visit The Richmond as it had excellent reviews. We arranged a meeting with the management team who we felt were very empathetic and courteous and listened to what we felt our mum needed and what our concerns were. Both myself and my sister left the meeting feeling very positive and confident that this was the care home we wanted our mum to move to. Mum moved in 4 weeks ago and since then, we have seen how happy she is and interacting with other residents and staff on a daily basis she now has a different quality of life. The staff and management are amazing. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

After accepting the realisation that Mum needed 24 hour care, we made the decision as a family to find the best care home possible that would be able to meet Mum's needs and give her the best quality of life she deserves. All the staff treat Mum with dignity and respect and they really care for Mum and for us as a family. When we visit we are always made to feel very welcome by everyone. Mum is very happy at The Richmond and is encouraged to participate in activities which they have going on throughout the day. The home is very clean and tidy and there is always a lovely homely atmosphere. Mum's room is very bright and comfortable and we have taken in some things from home that she recognises. I am kept up to date by staff and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are always polite and helpful and above all, they really care and that was a big factor when making the decision which home to choose. As a family, we are very confident we chose the best care home for our mum.

Had a terrible experience with Richmond Care Home.
Pre-admission the staff were very helpful, understanding, and reassuring.
However, on the day my mum went into Richmond it was a totally different story. My mum was greeted and shown to her room with the door shut behind her. After a little while, I went to ask if there was anyone available to show my mum around but unfortunately was told everyone was busy.
The television my mum had brought wouldn’t work but there was no maintenance staff at all and sadly nobody else could help. After about an hour someone did come to show my mum around after struggling to remember her name.
As by now, my mum was very agitated we decided to leave.
I was very disappointed that no one from the care home tried to call or speak to me in the next 2 days.

A very upsetting experience all round.

The Richmond care home would like to express their remorse at not being given the time to begin developing a relationship before you left the building with your Mother, we feel 90 minutes was an inadequate amount of time to experience all that The Richmond can offer.

The Richmond care home has been nothing short of brilliant in helping to settle and comfort my dad. Management, support staff and nursing staff have all been considerate and highly responsive in ensuring my dad receives all the support and facilitates he requires. They have successfully balanced meeting these needs while also ensuring dad's dignity and maintaining his independence as much as possible. The facilities are always very clean and Dad is really enjoying the food. It has been a comfort for myself and the family to know dad is being cared for with compassion and care and I cannot rate Richmond high enough in helping my dad transition with the minimum of disruption and challenge.

My father-in-law said, "please don't put me in a home", so making the decision to put him in a home was heartbreaking. We were recommended Richmond Care Home by our neighbour. Beat decision ever! The staff are brilliant; they really look after him and us as a family. They take the time to learn all about him and chat with him about his hobbies and family, they encouraged us to bring lots of his favourite things from home and pictures to make it more homely for him. The home is beautiful, but the care he receives is fantastic; they genuinely care and are very helpful. We are grateful to them for making his final days full of care and respect for both him and us.

It has been a difficult year not being able to visit mum, but Mother's Day was a special day - made even more special by our first visit inside. Facebook has been a godsend as well to keep in contact on messenger to keep spirits up. Thank you to all the staff.

Mum has been living at The Richmond for 2 years and sadly passed away there recently. We are so proud and thankful to everyone at The Richmond for their genuine love and care shown to Mum right up to the end. She was very much part of the Richmond family and we were comforted to know she was in their safe hands. We will never be able to thank the manager and the team enough for everything they did for her. We witnessed how much love the girls showed Mum in her final days, I’m certain this contributed to her very peaceful passing.

Thank you for such a warm and heartfelt review Lesley. It was our privilege to be able to care for your mum and she was a very big part of the Richmond family and will be very much missed. Mum has settled into Richmond so well. I had the normal anxieties when she first went in but to see her laughing and looking so comfortable in her surroundings is wonderful and very reassuring. The staff I have met are all so kind to Mum and helpful with any questions that I may have. I can't thank them all enough.

The Richmond is the best place my mum could have been through this last year, and before that, I have had no worries about her being cared for through this pandemic. They have taken every precaution to the wellbeing of the residents, still providing so much care and stability, which has helped me and my family immensely through this difficult time. Thank you to all, Richmond, you are all so much appreciated.

My mum has been dancing for the first time in 30 years, clapped on and surrounded by a circle of residents. That is my mum being my mum and it is heart-wrenchingly delightful to see her dancing as I remember her when I was a boy. Thank you so much. Please continue to look after my mum and let her be amazing.

My wife went into Richmond Care Home on the fourteenth of December 2018. She was very unsettled, she would not go to bed one night when I was visiting. One of the carers was pushing a big leather armchair into my wife's bedroom when I asked what she was doing. She said if she’s sleeping in a chair it’s going to be a comfortable one, but she didn’t leave it at that. Over the following weeks she persisted and eventually got her to go to bed, This carer is now a very close friend (she will know who I'm talking about) who will text me or ring me to see if I’m ok and if I’m not she will tell me off and pick me up. A lot of the staff have become very dear to me. I wish I could name them all. For two years they loved and cared for my wife. It's wrong to call the Richmond a care home it’s a home from home for those residents. On the twelfth of November at 3.45 am my wife sadly lost her fight for life. I spent 8 days and nights with my wife until she passed. All the staff made sure I was ok and now I get messages saying to keep in touch. They are my extended family.

Mother receives exceptional care at this home. The staff are all welcoming when you visit. The deputy manager has been keeping relatives informed of all the changes that have needed to take place within the home due to COVID. I am always kept well informed of how Mum is getting on. I always feel that I can have a conversation with any of the staff or managers if needed. They do offer a fantastic open door policy. The home is warm, inviting and feels person-centred. I would recommend the home to anyone needing to place their loved one. Since the COVID-19 lockdown the staff, in my opinion, have gone above and beyond to keep all their residents safe. I think they have done a fantastic job under exceptional circumstances. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from them.

My father spent his final days in the Richmond Care home receiving palliative care for stage 2 terminal cancer. He was in there during the care home's most challenging time - during the COVID-19 outbreak. The level of care he received was incredible! All staff on the Manager's team were genuinely warm, friendly, and concerned for his welfare and our wellbeing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Ultra professional at all times, highly knowledgeable, and exceptionally compassionate. My family is thankful that my father spent his final days being cared for by such a dedicated bunch of lovely people. Dad's passing was made much more bearable because of the care he and we all received. We can not praise the Manager and his team enough.

Richmond Care Home has been a godsend for us. They have taken every care to look after my mum-in-law, even though she only attends one day a week. Nothing has been too much trouble for them, they have even offered to extend the daycare when we have had hospital visits with my father-in-law. I would not hesitate to recommend this home, as they are always caring, considerate and provide a friendly haven for my mum-in-law.
