All the staff are so warm and friendly. Mum settled in quickly and loves it there. There are also lots of activities that she enjoys including singing along with others to tunes from the past. It gives me and my brother peace of mind to know she's happy, safe and well cared for.

Having been visiting my mum at Sherrell House for the past 16-months, I have seen a visible difference in her wellbeing, she has settled in well and is positively responsive to all the team who care for her, knowing Mum, I believe this is a sure sign that the care she receives is excellent. The whole
team are a credit to the business.

My husband has been poorly with a severe chest infection and has been looked after exceptionally well. The home has kept me informed all the way along.
Last year in October 2 members of staff saved his life by performing CPR for which I was extremely grateful as I was in Canada.

I am worried about security after the loss of a valuable wedding ring, also, all good quality new clothing just disappears. My husband has lots of clothes missing! We don't buy expensive clothes for him anymore, for fear that they never come back to his room even though they are labelled clearly.

My mother has been a resident at Sherrell House for almost seven years. During that time we have been more than happy with the care and support she has received. The staff are friendly, caring and professional. We particularly like the family get-togethers, i.e. BBQ and Christmas lunch.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.867)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.867) out of 10 for Excelcare Sherrell House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.892 for Excelcare Sherrell House is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 222 Ratings = 4.892
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Excelcare Sherrell House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 92 registered maximum number of service users is 18.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2026

I am a qualified nurse and midwife with additional qualifications in psychiatric and community nursing, giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical background. Before working in elderly care, I gained extensive experience in Intensive Care, specialising in cardiac care, and I also hold a qualification in nutrition management, which supports a holistic approach to residents’ health and well-being.

Caring for older people is something I am deeply passionate about. Every resident has a life story that deserves to be respected and honoured, and I strongly believe they should always be treated with kindness, dignity, compassion, and the highest standard of care.

I chose to join the Sherrell House team because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and the commitment shown by its compassionate and dedicated team.

Outside of work, music has always been a big part of my life. I used to play both the piano and saxophone, and although it has been a while, my love of music remains. I also enjoy cooking and like to think I can occasionally channel my inner Michelin-star chef!
