Sherrell House is a purpose built modern friendly care home located in Chigwell Essex offering skilled professionals for a wide range of personal and nursing needs.

The home has two specialist dementia units as well as a nursing unit. All beds have en-suite facilities and are decorated to a high standard. The simple design and layout of the building provides wide corridors with good lighting. Lounges, dining rooms and quiet rooms are located around the home, with communal rooms on each floor, close to the bedrooms, so residents can choose how and to spend their day.

In addition to this, the home has a hair salon where you can enjoy being pampered and a cinema area should you want to watch a film. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building enabling contact with families and friends from afar to be maintained.

The resident chef prepares tasty home-cooked meals each day which are served in the three dining areas. Each meal is designed to suit individual food preferences and cultures and uses fresh ingredients.

The aim is to create a homely atmosphere and quality care services where people are treated with respect and dignity. A home from home where the resident and their families can relax, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones are safe.

My wife has been a resident of Sherrell House for a year now, and I couldn’t wish for a better care home for her. Sherrell House is a wonderful, caring home, and the care my wife receives is 5-star. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, and the food is excellent. I am very happy with Sherrell House
and all the staff who take such fantastic care of my wife.

I have my brother and my sister-in-law in Sherrell House. The assistance I had for making this possible was outstanding. To be able to visit both at the same time/place is such an advantage for me, and them. I cannot fault the care my brother has had. Carers have been superb in looking after him. They
have been respectful, kind and gentle and helped him to settle in well.

My father has been living at Sherrell House for over 2.5 years now, and I can honestly say he has been cared for exceptionally well by the professional and compassionate team. After a bad experience at his previous home, I am so relieved he was at Sherrell for the pandemic, as despite challenges in
the early weeks with poor testing and PPE availability, the staff bent over backwards to keep residents as safe as possible. Visiting has been a nightmare due to official guidelines, but I've been kept informed throughout, and when I have been able to visit safely, Dad was in good spirits, well-fed and always well-groomed, which speaks volumes about the care team.
Dad's health issues make him frustrated and snappy some days, but the carers know how to keep him safe without upsetting him while maintaining his dignity.
Sherrell is modern and stylish, always looking and smelling hygienically clean, and the food is pretty good too, tailored to individual needs.
I'm very impressed and grateful to the whole team.

My mother is always happy; she enjoys time spent with staff and has a good laugh. The staff are caring, kind and easily approachable, very friendly. Any issues I have had, I have been able to resolve easily with the unit manager, who always takes the time and the effort to respond to my queries. Lately,
she was so reassuring and made me understand and feel comfortable by explaining the reasons for my mum’s determination. She made me feel relaxed and comfortable by explaining everything that has been done so far and the plan she had in case all that was not enough. I could not wish for a better place for my mum to spend her last years.

My aunt has been a resident at Sherrell House for just over three years now. The care she has received during that time has been excellent, and the team of staff are caring and committed. I can’t thank them enough for taking such good care of my aunt, especially during the months when visiting was either

My mum needed respite care, and Sherrell House was recommended by her current home carers. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and very professional. I was very impressed by their adherence to the Covid protocols and felt Mum would be completely safe and happy there. Each member of staff
that I met seemed genuinely interested in Mum's needs, and nothing was too much for them. When I picked her up at the end of her stay, she said that she didn't want to leave.

This care home is an excellent home for loved ones. The staff give 110% care and go beyond and above their duties. I could not wish for a better place for my dear mother. Its cleanliness is excellent, and the staff work tirelessly to give their residents the best care. The staff on the 2nd floor are
angels and always take time to answer any questions about their residents.

Adele Petersen

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2026

I am a qualified nurse and midwife with additional qualifications in psychiatric and community nursing, giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical background. Before working in elderly care, I gained extensive experience in Intensive Care, specialising in cardiac care, and I also hold a qualification in nutrition management, which supports a holistic approach to residents’ health and well-being.


Caring for older people is something I am deeply passionate about. Every resident has a life story that deserves to be respected and honoured, and I strongly believe they should always be treated with kindness, dignity, compassion, and the highest standard of care.


I chose to join the Sherrell House team because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and the commitment shown by its compassionate and dedicated team.


Outside of work, music has always been a big part of my life. I used to play both the piano and saxophone, and although it has been a while, my love of music remains. I also enjoy cooking and like to think I can occasionally channel my inner Michelin-star chef!
