Sherrell House is a purpose built modern friendly care home located in Chigwell Essex offering skilled professionals for a wide range of personal and nursing needs.

The home has two specialist dementia units as well as a nursing unit. All beds have en-suite facilities and are decorated to a high standard. The simple design and layout of the building provides wide corridors with good lighting. Lounges, dining rooms and quiet rooms are located around the home, with communal rooms on each floor, close to the bedrooms, so residents can choose how and to spend their day.

In addition to this, the home has a hair salon where you can enjoy being pampered and a cinema area should you want to watch a film. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building enabling contact with families and friends from afar to be maintained.

The resident chef prepares tasty home-cooked meals each day which are served in the three dining areas. Each meal is designed to suit individual food preferences and cultures and uses fresh ingredients.

The aim is to create a homely atmosphere and quality care services where people are treated with respect and dignity. A home from home where the resident and their families can relax, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones are safe.

A lady from the county council visited my father in early August 2015, she was very respectful and treated my father very well, she managed to get the best from him and he was very relaxed with her, which is difficult when suffering from dementia. She spent approximately one hour with us and was very
thorough and very impressed with Sherrell House.

Mum has been a resident in Sherrell House for over a year. During that time we have found all the staff to be welcoming efficient, supportive and caring at all times. The work hard to make residents feel it is their home. There is a family atmosphere which we greatly value as relatives. When discussing
mums health with staff they show a good understanding of her physical and emotional needs and we feel these are met. I have no complaints at all just gratitude.

I visit a friend occasionally, generally everything is very good, staff, food, room etc. I am not here enough to know much about the activities but realise it's very difficult with such an elderly group of people. Everyone seems happy and well cared for, I do not know the cost of the care.

We visit a friend on the second floor every week. We are very impressed with the care given, the staff are lovely and very kind to the residents. The rooms are very clean and comfy. I would have loved my mum to have come but it was not possible (she used to live in LB Waltham Forest) - this is a lovely
home compared to many I've seen. I cannot comment on the food as I haven't seen it but our friend enjoys his meals.

My mum has been at Sherrell House for around 2 months, and so far I have been very impressed with the service provided. My mum's well being is being well catered for and I have noticed a significant improvement in her health. When my daughter and myself first visited the care home, we were pleasantly
surprised by the atmosphere created by the staff. They are happy, positive and energetic, all of which has seemed to rub off on my mum.

The care home at Sherrell House is very well managed. The staff from reception, carers, nurses and everyone of the team seems extremely polite and professional. My mother has been there for two months and I know it's still early days yet but so far I'm very happy with the care she's been receiving.
The care home is very clean and tidy and sets a very good example on how a care home should be run.

Mum was here and step dad, pleasant staff and comfortable with them. Clean, and activities. When I am an OAP I would be happy to be placed here.

I have worked in the care sector for 19 years, but I was inspired to join Excelcare in particular because of the strong family feel and environment. All team members make you feel like you belong from the moment you start to work here. From when I first visited Sherrell House, I was so impressed with the compassion I could feel from the team every time that they spoke to, or about the people living in the home.


When I started at my first job in care, I was quite disheartened as there was no real team spirit or motivation. However, I am so glad that I continued in care, because that is certainly not the case at Sherrell House. I am part of a team that puts in 100% all of the time and is incredibly passionate. This is a fantastic environment, and I’m looking forward to seeing where my future in Excelcare takes me.
