You have looked after my aunt for quite some time now and have always shown kindness and respect in what has become quite challenging circumstances as my aunt's condition has worsened. It is heartbreaking for us to see how dementia affects a loved-one but your professional care has made it more bearable - thank you.

The home is always immaculate and the carers appear to be very attentive to their residents, they always seem to try and make their day special if they're celebrating their Birthday there, which I have not found in other homes. Overall I currently find the home very kind and compassionate, particularly on the dementia unit.

My family regularly visit unannounced - always find there are many carers on duty. They are welcoming and very attentive to my relative. Entertainment is carried out daily and when I have visited the food always looks good and a good amount. Our relatives' bedroom/bathroom are kept clean and tidy. The receptionists are always very helpful, as are the carers on duty when we phone for an update on our relatives' condition.

My mum was cared for, loved and respected at Sherrell House. Although her stay was very short, the staff were caring, understanding and completely competent. The home is always spotless, without odour and a happy place to visit. I would gladly take up residence there myself-

A big thank you to the staff for making those last few weeks of mum's life a happy one.

My mother is obviously happy here, she likes the staff and they are kind and attentive to her. My mother takes part in the activities on offer and from the evidence of the scrapbook photos she enjoys them whether it's pet day or an art activity. The care that my mother receives here helps me to be more relaxed, I don't need to worry about her health and well-being as I did before she came here.

Sherrell House is a lovely environment with good facilities and well-kept spaces. The staff are caring and many go beyond our expectations to provide a high level of care and compassion, especially given the challenging needs of some of the residents. Additional activities and facilities, such as visits out and the hairdresser are very much appreciated.

I visit twice a week and find the staff both pleasant and friendly. They are busy and efficient, showing great care and interest in the residents. I have had a bad experience with a care home and only wish I'd been able to use this care home for my father.

My only criticism is the lack of enough parking places.

I have noticed a vast improvement in standards across the home since mum arrived a year ago.

The manager is marvellous! Reception staff are welcoming and helpful, carers are attentive and have gotten to know my mum's specific needs, likes and dislikes.

It has its good days and not so good days.
Is there a lack of staff or changes? Things have changed lately and have gone down a bit.
It maybe because of holidays, regular staff?
Food not as good as it was. Who cooks the food?
The staff are very kind but they cannot do miracles.

Some times residents cannot understand some staff language/accents.

Reply from Sonia Kasese, General Manager at Excelcare Sherrell House

We are very concerned to hear about this experience and it is the home's priority to ensure all our residents are supported with quality care including high standards of food options. We will be immediately reviewing these concerns and aim to address all concerns raised.

My mother has been a resident since July 2015.
We have experienced very few if any problems during her stay.
The management and particularly staff have always been very supportive under what must be, at times, difficult circumstances.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Sherrell House to anyone.

A lady from the county council visited my father in early August 2015, she was very respectful and treated my father very well, she managed to get the best from him and he was very relaxed with her, which is difficult when suffering from dementia. She spent approximately one hour with us and was very thorough and very impressed with Sherrell House.

Mum has been a resident in Sherrell House for over a year. During that time we have found all the staff to be welcoming efficient, supportive and caring at all times. The work hard to make residents feel it is their home. There is a family atmosphere which we greatly value as relatives. When discussing mums health with staff they show a good understanding of her physical and emotional needs and we feel these are met. I have no complaints at all just gratitude.

I visit a friend occasionally, generally everything is very good, staff, food, room etc. I am not here enough to know much about the activities but realise it's very difficult with such an elderly group of people. Everyone seems happy and well cared for, I do not know the cost of the care.

We visit a friend on the second floor every week. We are very impressed with the care given, the staff are lovely and very kind to the residents. The rooms are very clean and comfy. I would have loved my mum to have come but it was not possible (she used to live in LB Waltham Forest) - this is a lovely home compared to many I've seen. I cannot comment on the food as I haven't seen it but our friend enjoys his meals.

My mum has been at Sherrell House for around 2 months, and so far I have been very impressed with the service provided. My mum's well being is being well catered for and I have noticed a significant improvement in her health. When my daughter and myself first visited the care home, we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere created by the staff. They are happy, positive and energetic, all of which has seemed to rub off on my mum.

I am a qualified nurse and midwife with additional qualifications in psychiatric and community nursing, giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical background. Before working in elderly care, I gained extensive experience in Intensive Care, specialising in cardiac care, and I also hold a qualification in nutrition management, which supports a holistic approach to residents’ health and well-being.

Caring for older people is something I am deeply passionate about. Every resident has a life story that deserves to be respected and honoured, and I strongly believe they should always be treated with kindness, dignity, compassion, and the highest standard of care.

I chose to join the Sherrell House team because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and the commitment shown by its compassionate and dedicated team.

Outside of work, music has always been a big part of my life. I used to play both the piano and saxophone, and although it has been a while, my love of music remains. I also enjoy cooking and like to think I can occasionally channel my inner Michelin-star chef!
